GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY
04 March 2008
Once again a great stay at the El Faro, rooms clean and beds changed midweek. In need of a little refurbishment but will definitely be coming back. Great food and friendly people at Smugglers and Beer Academy, made our holiday once again.

Decent Budget Hotel
20 February 2008
We found El Faro to be a pleasant budget hotel. The rooms were fairly spacious, views fantastic. The heating is a definite bonus on cold evenings, and the showers were powerful with plentiful hot water. Overall El Faro is a good value budget hotel.

helpful gym good value
14 February 2008
nice place. is indeed a long way out about 25 mins brisk walk from old town but quiet area and more spanish than new town. good supermarket 5 mins walk up hill. gym helpful and cheap. lots of weights but adequate cardio facilities and some classes. buses easy to use and one euro anywhere but most useful bus stop is an uphill wak.
sun on balcony for much of day even in feb. helpful staff behind desk.
all in all would recommend, especially if prefer a more spanish area.

Winter Getaway
27 January 2008
We stayed here in January 08. Having read some poor reviews prior to going we were not sure what to expect, however on arrival although we found the apartments to be basic and slightly jaded, however they were clean and fit for purpose with everything we needed. Clean sheets and towel change midweek, good power from the shower and pleasant staff particularly Roberto who was keen on customer service. During our stay there were two mishaps ; our shower broke and we lost electricity one evening however on alerting reception on our way out each morning the problems were resolved by our return which was the best we could hope for. The apartments are a little out the way of main Benidorm however we preferred the quiet and slightly upmarket location of Playa Poniente which has more of a Spanish feel. In good weather a walk to the old town is between 30 -40 minutes and helped to keep us fit and active. It was better for sleeping at night here than central Benidorm where the bars stay open til 5 and I am sure can get really rowdy in summer. The apartments have a fantastically equipped gym too which is used by lots of local residents. On the whole we cant understand why others have given poor reviews. I mean what do people expect? You get what you pay for and for around £8 a night per person we certainly couldnt complain.
If returning to Benidorm we would certainly consider staying at El Faro again which also has a nice pool for summer time use and we felt was excellent value for our money. The weather was also incredible even better than our summers in Scotland at times!

This was a great hotel. Everything we needed was there. Would recomend this hotel to anyone.
Staff were friendly, bar open 24 hours. Absolutly fantastic! Quite far out but it was only 8 euros for a taxi into the new town.
Will be back again.

Excellent Holiday
08 November 2007
My partner, his daughter who is 4 and myself went to Benidorm for 2 weeks in October and it was the best! The hotel was everything we could ask for considering the price. We had 2 towel changes during our stay and the staff were marvellous - especially Justine who took a shine to the little one. It was a little out of the way of the centre but we didin't mind and hired a car to get about but if you don't want to do this the local bus service is fantastic, you can get anywhere with a euro. A must see is a bar along the road called the Beer Academy and The Smugglers does a mean haddock and chips! We are definately gong back - soon hopefully and would definately stay at El Faro. Hope you enjoy your holiday.

El Faro
25 October 2007
Stayed for 8 nights from 5th Oct. 3rd Time I have stayed at El Faro and again the facilities and rooms were basic, but very clean. Pool is cleaned everyday, staff were helpful. Only downside was that the room was not cleaned during the stay and no fresh towels provided. These had to be asked for. This happened last year as well but its the only point that can be improved. Location is quiet and views are really good especially from the higher room balconies.

Review of 'El Faro'
12 March 2007
Third successive year we have used El Faro as a base for a golfing holiday on the Costa del Golf. We were a group of 16 men and the rooms were clean and comfortable, although fairly basic and compact. Staff are friendly and helpful and hotel is ideally positioned, just a two minute walk from the beach and five minutes from the old town. Breakfast is a little dissapointing, but we opted for one of the many seaside resteraunts which serve English and continental breakfasts on the seafront. Hotel is a little difficult to find on the first occasion and street parking is a problem although there is a first class secure car park approx 400 yds away.

The El Faro in Playa Poniente is in a pleasant, steady location ideally situated for the beach,a nice steady walk or a one euro bus ride to Benidorm in one direction and a bus ride to Finistrat beach the other. The hotel and room was clean, tidy and staff helpful. My stay was enjoyable and value for money, I would use this hotel and location again. Phil, Nottingham.

After reading the mixed reviews of the hotel I was a little sceptical about the hotel....
All I can say is fantastic value for money, a total enjoyable stay. The hotel was out of the centre of Benidorm which was a bonus!! We hired a car from the airport so we could travel around and we didn't need to get taxi's.
The hotel was very clean & near a beautiful beach, all the staff were helpful and friendly.
I would definately return. Excellent value for money

Our Excellent Stay at the 'El Faro'
27 February 2007
We stayed at the El Faro for one week in February 2007. We were visiting relatives who live out in Benidorm for the winter. The service we recieved at the El Faro was great. From the minute we arrived we were made very welcome. The staff were very friendly, especially Maggie and even Marcello (the night bar man)who did not speak much (if any) english always had a smile. I think he was probably laughing at my very limited attempts to speak spanish! The apartements, although basic were clean and had everything we needed and we got clean sheets and towels mid-week. The El Far is a littel way out of the Old Town and Levante but the bus service is excellent and cheap (One Euro, no matter how far you are going) and taxis are readily avaiable. All in all we really enjoyed our week at the El Faro and will not hesitate to go back there.

Review of 'El Faro'
20 September 2006
The Hotel was clean and basic. The staff were friendly and happy to help, we reported the lock on the patio door was broke as soon as we arrived and within the next hour it had been fixed. If your looking for a base just to wash and sleep this is the place, dont expect nothing special, you get what you pay for. The hotel is based in a very quiet area and it costs one Euro for a bus into the busier part or seven Euro for a Taxi into the Square (nightlife). There is a resturant just round the corner called The Smugglers Rest that i deffinatly recommend, The food was fantastic and great price, a 2 course sunday lunch was eight euro and the beef and lamb melted in your mouth, deffinatly worth a visit. The couple that own it drink in the hotel and gave us directions. The hotel has a great gym packed with lots of up to date equipment, great if you want to work off the over eating. Overall a lovely place.

Accomodation was as described, near to beach, near to local amenities. Nice pool and sun lounge area. The receptionist was nice and check in very easy. Car park was 3.50 per night. Hot water at all times of the day and nice balcony area. The only fault I found was that I thought the towels were a bit worn and for 4 people there should have been a few more. However, this did not spoil our 2 night stay there. Would stay there again and would recommend this hotel for a short break.

I would never want to stay anywhere else!!
The rooms were basic but clean, the staff was the best i have encountered! We were made to feel part of the family it was fabulous. I have been travelling to Benidorm for many years and stayed in many different hotels/apartments. When i travel back to Benidorm i will be staying in El Faro and nowhere else. Just 50yards from the beach. A nice walk along the prominade to the old town. A short taxi ride to the new town and all the pubs and clubs and hussle and bussle. Lovely pool area. What can i say? had the best holiday ever!!

Excellent value for money, my three mates and I shared an apartment for four nights for the equivelant of £6 per night. Hotel not too far from the nightlife, but far enough away if you want a quiet night at the hotel. Rooms and facilities were clean and well kept, and it's really close to the beach.

25 April 2006
20 girls on a henweekend. Rooms were basic but clean and had we needed, we were on the 14th floor and had a view of the beach which is about a 3 minute walk away. The beach is very clean with lots of sun loungers (3 euro's each per day). You can get a bus into the old town (about 1 euro each) or a cab (about 6 euro's). This was a quiet part of town which was nice as we just travelled into town for the mayhem. The night shift was great for keeping the bar open until the last person left (sometimes 7am!) Overall I would recommend this hotel for a quiet basic accomodation in Benidorm. There are pubs and restaurants around but if you want more madness it is easy to find.

Good hotel and very friendly staff who were happy to oblige until early hours with drinks. Requested a low room and got the first floor which was perfect. Could do with a lick of paint but otherwise very clean and ideal for a short break. We were there in April so only a few residents, virtually had pool to ourselves. Is quite a way out of the main town but ideal for lovely beach and peace and quiet, near enough to old town. Walked into Benidorm on seafront which took about 1/2 hour but taxis only cost 8euros into centre of town.

Just stayed at the El Faro, excellent value for money! 16 of us stayed ageing from 19-57, every one of us enjoyed the stay here. There are buses a few minutes walk which takes you to the old town for 1 euro, around a 5 minute drive. Taxi to levente beach area (main nightlife) 10 minute drive 8 euro. This area is much nicer to stay, as it's alot more relaxed and layed back, however close enough to get to the nightlife and shops if required. Beach one block down again alot better beach than levente. Staff very friendly! would go back again!

Review of 'EL FARO'

The El Faro appartments, situated in the La Cala end of Benidorm,on the Poniente beach. First visit here in May 2005, for 7 days a mature couple, we prefer a quieter acccomodation, with the choice of much more within a walk or bus ride away. The first visit, was in May for 7 days the appartments are quite spacious, and clean, if you have a room with a kettle to make a drink, then you are one of the lucky ones, we asked for a kettle and got a milk jug, still instead used a saucepan instead. Second visit in June 2005 for 10 days, definately rate this accomodation to anyone , can also reccomend a good all round cafe/restaurant just as you approach the old town, on the Poniente beach called the SOL-E-MAR a fullenglish breakfast with tea/coffee or orange juice for just 2 euros and 50 cents, each a bargain and very friendly staff.

You couldnt ask for better with El Faro. It had everything you could ask for. Sea view, pool, clean rooms, hot water every day, a internet cafe, bar, gym should u want to use it.
I had a great time at the El Faro and will definately go again. It had everything I could ask for and more. Plus it was close to a couple of english cafes. Ginger Nuts who do a great breakfast for about 5 euros and Smugglers in for a excellent meal in the afternoon/evening, just the kind of home cooked meal u so want

Review of 'EL FARO'
25 March 2005
A value for money, no frills hotel. The apartment was very spacious, clean and comfortable it was also warm, with central heating for the cold Spanish evenings at this time of year (March). There was a pleasant reception area and bar, other facilities ie. fitness centre, internet and games area etc. The pool, surrounding patio and grass areas were kept clean and there was plenty of room for the sun loungers. There was also ample parking if you required it. The Hotel is situated just inside the Poniente beach area, about 20 minutes walk into the old town, via the promenade. There are also local buses, should you wish to travel further into Benidorm. Should you not want to venture too far from the hotel, the beach was just 2 minutes walk, also there were plenty of bars, restuarants and cafe in the vicinity. We would certainly return for another stay and would recommend it.

Review of 'EL FARO'
24 March 2005
I stayed at the El Faro in March 2004. We stayed on a self catering basis but there is a resturant at the accommodation. The rooms are very basic, but clean. The location of the El Faro is at the Poniente end of Benidorm and a short bus ride into the town centre.
The beach a minute walk awayt and there are pubs, bars and resturants in the immediate vacinity.
Overall the El Faro is good value for money, but it is located in the quieter part of Benidorm, so not really suitable for the partying type, but recommended for a peacefull quiet holiday.
