Fabulous hotel!
08 August 2008
Loved this hotel, our room was huge, with a nice view over the city. The staff were lovely and helpful. The hotel is really central, 5 mins to St Marks and lots of nice places to eat nearby. And it was really cheap through Alpharooms! Highly recommended.

Duodo Palace
24 August 2007
The lovely hotel, set amid the tiny streets of Venice was wonderful to stay in. We had a junior suite room with a balcony overlooking a canal (there are 3 rooms with a balcony) and it was great to watch the the gondolas passing by below. The hotel is quite grand but not large and the staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is a buffet affair, fine but not lavish. It is easiest to arrive at this hotel by water taxi (100euro from the airport) if you have cases. Otherwise, it is still easy using a map and the hotel is signposted on some buildings which makes it easy. It is only 5 mins from St Marks Square. i would be more than happy to stay here again.

Doudo Palace
12 May 2007
We arrived by water taxi direct to the hotel door, and it was definitely worth the extra. We were greeted by friendly and efficient staff in this beautifully restored Venetian Palazzo. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom superb. The inclusive breakfast has limited choice but was more than adequate for us, and the coffee deserves a special mention. On departure we chose to use the water taxi again, resulting in a stress-free journey to round off our holiday. We will certainly return to the Duodo Palace.

Review of 'DUODO PALACE'
07 April 2007
The hotel was not initially easy to find when arriving on foot from the water bus, but is quite centrally located for the main sights. Although it gave the appearance of four star in its furnishings etc, the guest areas are small. The standard room we had was very small, with virtually no natural light. They do have superior rooms but we were quoted an additional 100 euros a night to upgrade, which we declined, so I cannot comment on those. The continental breakfast was self service in a very small breakfast room. It was adequate, if unremarkable (the orange juice was unpleasant). Cooked was available at extra cost. Not a bad hotel, but quite pricey for what is is.

Lovely hotel.Lots of character, very centrally located but in a quiet spot near the Opera House. Staff were charming and helpful, arranging trips, a concert and giving advice.Attractive room with Venetian fabrics. As this hotel is on a canal you can arrive by private water taxi and step off into the hotel. A wonderful way to arrive in Venice for the first time as you go up the Grand Canal and under the Rialto Bridge. We would stay there again

Very well refurbished, friendly, intimate, quality hotel which is ideally situated in the very heart of Venice.
Friendly accomodating staff.
Quality bathrooms (with bath), soft towels and true 4 star standards.
Spend the extra and arrive by water taxi, it's worth it.

step back into the renaissance
01 April 2007
From the moment you arrive in Venice, you step back in time.Staying at the Duodo Palace we felt we were in the Renaissance. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels throughout the world but there is something very special about this hotel and its staff. The hotel has beautiful marble and wood - pristine but relaxed and the staff friendly and very helpful. Breakfast - great coffee! and the croissants better than anything we have tasted in France. Our room was spacious and full of Italian charm. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. We travelled from the airport by vaporetta - 12 euros each - a delightful way to arrive in Venice. On the way back a private water taxi -90 euros - an exhilarating way to leave Venice!! Try it!

we flew to venice for 3 nights in march... the only thing i found wrong with this hotel was finding it.. we walked around for 2 hours looking for it and nobody seemed to be able to point us in the right direction.. finally a street artist walked us to the door of the hotel...
the hotel is absolutley out of this world and i can most defentily say it was one of the nicest places i have ever stayed.. our room was spacious and the decor was out of this world.. the bathroom was spotless and the marble floor was heated.. the breakfast was lovley also..
the staff were very helpfull and could not do enough for us.. nothing was too much to ask.. we were leaving at 7 am on the monday morning they had a watertaxi waiting for us and a packed breakfast in a bag.... i would recommened this hotel to everyone but get clear directions on how to get to it before arrival...

The hotel was fantastic, we thoughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return. The rooms were in first class decor and immaculately clean. The staff were very curtious and helpful. We were amazed at the standards offered for such a competitive rate. The hotel was within walking distance of St Marks's Square, Rialto Bridge and loads of first class shops and restaurants. This was our first visit to Venice and we would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definately book again with Alfa Rooms.

Review of 'DUODO PALACE'
21 November 2005
Our hotel priorities for our November weekend in Venice were as follows: Quiet location but fairly central, friendly staff (We have experienced unfriendly in Italy and it was not fun), quality decor in a large bedroom ,and the Hotel Lounges and lobby area to offer a laid back, but classy, feel. After scrutinising many review sites the Duodo Palace seemed to in general, measure up in all areas of our requirements. From the airport we took a water bus to St Marks square, 10 Euros each. It took over an hour, but it was a fine November day.The walk from St Marks square to the hotel was challenging through Venice's winding alleyway configuration, but we managed to get there in the end just using the hotels web site map. The Hotel is situated in a small culdesac..perfect! A charming welcome greeted us, the bedroom was restrained, budget opulence, marble bathroom, painted walls, HUGE bed. It was number 307, it even had a fabulous, but narrow, balcony overlooking a very quiet canal. The Hotel does have a small bar, but no restaurant for meals other than breakfast. There were though nearby places to eat in abundance. It was great to take a water taxi back to the airport, picked us up at the Hotels canalside lobby, 80Euros, but a worthwhile treat. Would we stay there again? Absolutely yes for sure, for us it was a perfect Venitian getaway , and it made our weekend truly one to remember.

Review of 'DUODO PALACE'
11 July 2005
Venice is a wonderful destination - forget romance (if you can) and remember sights, food, drink and crowds. The Duodo Palace was the antidote to the latter, while Venice provided everything else. The room was beautifully furnished, but maybe could have been a little larger - but this tasteful and peaceful oasis in the best part of town for access and sightseeing, was just what was needed after a foot wearying day and prior to a brilliant night out. Major criticism was the awful, uninspired breakfast. With a little more effort here this could have been the perfect stay - but all in all, not far short. Oh, and the staff are a delight.

As the hotel advertises our room really was soundproof! We were next door to the bar, breakfast room and reception and couldn't hear a thing. It was a great room for travelling with our baby as it was large, ground floor and they provided a travel cot with nice cotton sheets.
I can not fault the hotel at all, very clean, nice breakfast (no restaurant but Venice has loads)and polite staff. Great location. Ask for room 100 and you won't be disappointed.
