Good Hotel Recommeded!!
25 March 2008
Just come back from the Dunas Mirador on Sunday, I will go back there! I thought it was a lovely hotel, clean rooms and very tidy. We had the All Inclusive which did have some bad points. Breakfast was poor, little choice on the English grub side, mainly continental, the bar in the reception wasnt part of the all inclusive, the bar at the pool had miserable staff and only gave half a half pint (full of froff) and the whole all inclusive ended at 10.30pm! very expensive to drink there after half 10! Was out of the way from the main areas which was nice in a way, cheap taxi ride to Playa and we enjoyed the walks around as well as to the beach. All in all the hotel was lovely, the food wasnt the best but theres a cracking pizza place round the corner!! I would return.

fair to middle
20 March 2008
Just got back from a week stay on All Inclusive. The food was not to bad although more catered for German and Spanish and a bit cold we felt. The hotel was clean and tidy with helpful staff mostly, one or two were quite rude if you didn't stand in the right place to get your drink or sat on the wrong seats. Because I am disabled the pool only has steps to get in and out and to get to the entertainment, which was held in the disco, there were steps up and down. The entertainment in the hotel was in spanish so if you have problems walking or going up steps it might not be for you. We were unfortunate whilst we were there that there were lots of 15/16 year olds on a school trip this made it very noisy and it was quite odd that on All Inclusive you could only get drinks from the pool bar and the restaurant. good value
26 February 2008
We stayed at thr Dudas Mirador mid February 08 for seven nights. The hotel is such good value for price payed. Food, rooms, staff, pool area, cleaning/towels and intertainment was very good. The intertainment by Juan Carlos Bueno and dance Monday to Thursday was first class. The Maspalomas beech and resturants are very good. I would return to this hotel.

Great stay. We can only recommend it!
25 February 2008
Very nice hotel. I don't get it why it only has 3 stars?
Good food (We can only recommend the "All Inclusive" program).
Nice staff, always friendly. Everyting is clean and tidy.
We have two children of 1 and 2 years, and they really enjoyed the pools and the various food :-)
We will defeneatly come back again.
The Hotel is af bit far from everything so we would recommend you to rent a car. It's very cheap at the Canaries.
I can only say: go there :-)

A really nice hotel
12 February 2008
Recently stayed at the Dunas Mirador Maspalomas Hotel for two weeks from 28 January. We had a really enjoyable stay. The hotel offers excellent value beyond what we had expected, given its 3 star rating. Our room was clean and spacious and the beds comfortable, although the furnishings a little tired. There was also a sofa and coffee table in the bedroom and the bathroom had a shower and power-points. On the bedroom balcony there are towel rails for drying swimsuits and also chairs and a table for sitting outside. If you require a hair dryer, beach towels or a t.v. remote control wand you must rent these. Rooms have a safe but you must pay a deposit to use it. There is a laundry facility at the hotel.
The grounds of the hotel were well kept; the staff was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel necessitated access to the beach via the free bus service or via cheap taxis that arrived within moments of the hotel staff contacting the taxi service and these taxis got you to the beach in minutes. (The beach is an absolute must see and is very beautiful at sunset.) However, we cannot recommend walking from the hotel to the beach because some busy roads are without pavements. There is also a car hire service on site too.
The Faro 2 Shopping centre is a 20-minute walk from the hotel as is an amusement park that would be ideal for young children and teens. There are also local shops around the corner of the hotel that sell international papers and useful items often needed on holiday. Although the hotel is located on a hill, we did not find this difficult on foot.
We opted for the all-inclusive scheme at the hotel. Overall, the quality of the food and its presentation was very good, with lots of choice on offer at the self-serve buffets that catered for all tastes, including a range of beverages (soft drinks, beer and red/white/rose wine). There was a cake and coffee hour every afternoon. Even the pool snack bar offered free drinks, burgers, chips, and sandwiches too. Overall, we will definitely consider going back to this hotel again. We had a restful time and despite the language differences, the hotel staff and guests were all very courteous, making our stay a very pleasant one.

Great value for money
19 September 2007
We had a great time!! This is quite a large well equipped and very clean hotel. The food was really good which a good choice. We stayed away from the pool bar at lunch times as they only serve burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and chips, but the restaurant on the other hand was great. I can certainly say that I would agree with the rest of the reviews regarding the excellent food. The pool area was always clean and our room was immaculate. The staff were friendly, and the entertainment both day and night was pretty good to. We found that the disco bar now serve all inclusive clients until 10.30 although they still start the entertainment later. There were an awful lot of German and Dutch people there but you should'nt let them intimidate you or put you off. We are used to the Spanish so that did'nt bother us at all. We caught the bus to and from the beach a couple of times which was only about a 10 minute ride and the Faro 2 shopping complex is about a 15 minute walk (better to get a taxi on the way back instead of walking up the hill though). On the whole a very relaxing and enjoyable time. We also booked the shuttle bus transfer which was excellent both ways.

very dissappointed
16 July 2007
Just got back yesterday and wnat to go again, but would steer well clear of this hotel. Very dissatisfied with the food and the service at the hotel, we would not recommend it to English families. The staff seemed reluctant to help and were not very cheerful. We felt if we German or Spanish things may have been different. All the entertainment was in German or Spanish and was very poor. My advice would be to stay near the light house or in Playa de Ingles.

08 April 2007
Just back from spending 5 days at the Mirador in Maspolomos, the hotel is very big and quite busy, mainly with families and couples. the facilities are quite good, with a big salt water pool and a smaller pool for kids, plenty of sun beads surround the pool, get ur towel down early as the sunbeads are taken up very quickly each morning. There is a very good pool side bar for getting drinks and snaks during the day, if all inclusive this is free, we were half board but still managed to get a free drink , it depends on the barman. The restaurant area serves buffet style breakfeast, lunch and dinner, it was always quite busy, breakfeat quite good with good choice of fruits, breads, juices and hot breakfeasts. we only had dinner once in hotel, we taught it was ok, noting special, better to go out and experience real canarian food. The room was basic enough, with a nice balcony view overloking the pool, the rooms were cleaned every day. Over we enjoyed or stay at the Mirador even though it is a bit far from the beach,Taxis only 3-4 euro. more suited to people who want to lie in the sun for a week or two, or for families. the staff were quite friendly and helpfull.

dont listen to negative things written by other people (theres no pleasing some). this hotel is absolutely fantastic. the facilities are 5 star, the food 5 star. Staff are excellent especially the entertainment crew and bar staff.
i would recomend it for every age group. plenty for kids to do, teenagers and bigger kids like myself. people have written bad comments about the staff and this is not the case, we made good friends and even went out on the town with some of them. the hotel is in a decent area and you can get anywhere for 3 euros, although we liked to walk as it helped to burn off all the excess food. speaking of which , the food was absolutely amazing, plenty to choose from, hygenic and very very tasty.
we are planning to come back here.

Hotel is very clean, and the staff are pleasant and helpful. The location is slightly outside of Maspalomas, and its a 50 min walk or a cheap taxi fair into Playa Del Inlges. Food and Room were excellent, clean towels/bedlinen regularly. Overall a very good stay and superb value for money. A+++

25 February 2007
Stayed here in Feb half term. Had a lovely time. Room was basic but sufficient. Unlucky to have a balcony overlooking the main road, but not too noisy with the door closed, & it did get the sunshine late afternoon. The hotel was generally nice, friendly staff. The animation team were good fun. Meals are at set times & were OK. Not a great variety, especially for children. Food at lunchtime at the poolside bar was very basic(burger, hot dog, toasted sandwich & chips only). Loads of sunbeds. Nice pool, although saltwater. Swimming towels available to hire. All inclusive drinks available from the poolside bar 10.30am-10.30pm only. Served in 'klix machine' style plastic cups. Can understand this during the day, but not in the evening. Drinks available in the dining room self service. There is a disco bar opens at 8.30pm, & drinks are available there 8.30-9.30 only, after which it's chargable. The entertainment starts after 9.30, so we'd slip out to the poolside bar & sneak freebies back in. Nice walk down a steep hill to local ammenities, entertainment etc, but quite a hard walk back. Easier in a Taxi. Taxi from airport only thirty five euros. Altogether, excellent value for money. We love Maspalomas & particularly Faro with it's shops & lack of timeshare sales people. We will return to the area again for winter sun & will quite probably use this hotel again.

NOT AGAIN
08 January 2007
The hotel was clean and the reception staff very friendly, the room was a good standard and large. We had booked all inclusive not knowing that this would mean that if you wished to drink in the evening you had to sit with a winter coat on as the only place you could drink was at the pool bar, this was situated at the end of the swimming pool and was open to the strong winds. The temprature was 8 to 10 degrees at night with a strong win and as all drinks came in little plastic glass's, these were blowing all over. On Christmas day they had a special dinner and you asked for 6 o'clock or 8 o'clock sitting, we with some friends booked for 8 o'clock and at 8.45 we had still not got into the resturant and when we did they had no seats left, and 400 hundred people were fighting over the food. Which was not very good. The Hotel put on a show in the evening at the main bar, which not only meant you had to pay for your drinks but they also had the neck to try and charge 18 euros for a seat. My overall impression of the hotel was they wanted your money but didn't what to give you anything for it. The Food was OK but the same cheap food every day, Pork, Chicken, Pasta, and Salad. The hotel is 3.5 Km from the beach which is all up hill. Taxi required to go out at night. I'm not a complete misery and have stayed in some very nice Hotels in this resort but not this one, you have been warned.

stayed 23.12.06- 30.12.06 rooms:very clean basic but good. food: excellent. drink: good selection of drinks entertainment: ok one complaint i had was that we were all inclusive and only able to get a drink from pool bar. [which was very cold at night] all inclusive in disco bar for 1 hour whilst kids disco was on. then at 21:30 it stopped and you were not really allowed to bring drinks in from pool bar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the evening entertainment was in disco bar and started at 21:30 so they wanted you to pay for drinks but we ordered extra drinks in disco to last us or sneaked them in from pool bar. would stay again if we were able to get drinks from other bars

Review of 'DUNAS MIRADOR MASPALOMAS'
21 December 2006
I am a young 61 years of age - and this was only my second holiday as a solo traveller. I cannot begin to explain just how much I enjoyed myself at the Dunas Mirador. My first full day I walked for five hours along the beach and back with wonderful views of the dunes and sea. The same views can be achieved by making use of the free bus service run from the hotel each morning with return journeys in the afternoon. The meals were of a very high standard with great variation. The staff are more than friendly - nothing was to much trouble for them. This is a destination not to be missed. For those younger than 61 (16) the on site disco and entertainmet was, so I was informed, very good indead - I was in bed by 10pm and was never disturbed by any noise - and i'm a light sleeper. Go on give it a chance book a stay at Dunas Mirador in Maspalomas - you have to trust someones opinion.

Review of 'DUNAS MIRADOR MASPALOMAS'
19 December 2006
Stay 4th – 11th December 2006
I was a little unsure after reading the other reviews on the Internet as to what we should expect, and on my return decided to give you a clear and honest opinion.
People commented negatively on staff attitudes – I found the staff accommodating and helpful, almost everyone spoke a little English. You have to remember these people work hard and they are busy, and as with everywhere, you may come across someone who’s having a problematic or bad day, give them some grace. Give a smile and be generous with your “hellos” and you’ll reap the rewards of enjoying your stay all the more.
Food - I was astounded at the choice, of course there are never going to please everyone, but the quality of the meat and fresh ingredients was fantastic. Breakfast ranged from 10 types of bread (including donuts and custard filled croissants to warm rolls and French sticks). There were 4 types of cold meats, cheeses, yoghurts, and fresh fruit. Lots of types of fruit juice, coffee and tea, milk (incl choc milk) 4 types of cereal, jams and honey. On the Hot side – they have egg (fried or scrambled,) Bacon and sausage, and boiled eggs. This is the only element that’s not too nice. The bacon is part cooked, and fatty with a bone in and the sausages strictly continental (hot dog style). But this is the only fault Lunch was a fantastic spread of salads and meats hot and cold – hot dishes, pasta, rice and chicken bites. Loads of stuff … The evening meal was even better with juicy beef steaks (twice a week) roast beef, chicken – fresh fish, pasta, salads, different potatos and veg galore, and then if you have any room, pudding!!
Accommodation – the rooms were cleaned 5 times a week (and they did a fantastic job!), fresh towels, sheets changed weekly (more if you want). The rooms were big and spacious and recommend a room with the pool view (A block was good). The adjoining bathroom again clean and spacious with bath / show (showers were lovely and warm and quite powerful). Watch out for slippy floors! There were 2 chairs and a table inside and the same outside on the balcony. There is a TV, which had BBC World News and CNN on in English. Bedside draws – large wardrobe complete with coat hangers. Plenty of plugs should you take an adapter.
Pool – so clean! The poolside was scrubbed every other day.

Good hotel let down by standard of food, it was always luke warm. Hotel very quiet so lots of brand new sunbeds. Rooms large, Pool fantastic, Bars ok, Staff brilliant with the kids. Hotel entertainment ok but would have been more enjoyable had there been more guests. Overall a good week in the sun in a 3* hotel that doesn't pretend to be anything else. We have stayed in better but we have also paid a lot more for a lot less!!!

The hotel was an extremely good 3 star. English was well spoken by the hotel reception staff. Rooms were very spacious. We were allocated a small apartment type room. Food was good, with a reasonable variety and selection for evening mail. Excellent value. The only drawback was the location of the hotel. It is about 3 miles from the beach and also over a mile to any reasonable night life and 3 miles from the main centre. A bus service is provided to the beach but the last bus departs from the beach at 5p.m. Taxis are very cheap - about 4 Euros a trip, - but this mounts up if you need a taxi everytime you go out.

I'm not sure what people expect for the amount of money this hotel costs but I thought it was excellent and if you have booked this hotel I feel you will have a great time, don't be put off by bad reviews. I'm a very fussy eater but I found soemthing to eat every night, a great salad selection available. Tips for drinkers would be to mix the free wine with lemonade for a nicer taste! The pool area is lovely and the hotel staff were very helpful. I had a great week!

This hotel complex was lovely, clean and everything it should of been. Pools were great, animation team fantastic with the kids, enough to keep them busy and amused. All inclusive was great value for money, my fussy 12yr old didn't starve but nor did he eat rubbish all week. Sirloin steaks fab, fruit good, pasta etc, best food we've encountered on an all inc. All inc bar closed at 2230, bit disappointing and very quiet in the evenings, all round, great value for money and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Clean, spacious friendly hotel with all ammenities. VERY good deal for our week's stay as it was half board. Didn't each much at hotel due to wanting to travel and eat out in teh evenings. Food is reasonable, but canteen like - not for romantics. Location is short taxi ride from Mas Palomas (Euro4). When booking rooms, pool view is best. At the rear of block C you can hear traffic passing by. Large clean split pool. Well presented hotel. Would recommend.

Review of 'MIRADOR MASPALOMAS'
04 February 2006
Initially the Mirador makes you feel welcome, and the reception is very clean and tidy. The pool area was kept very clean at all time. Unfortunately a majority of the sunbeds had broken plastic pieces, and children kept trapping their legs inside, causing distress and injury. No attempt was made to remove or repair the beds. The food was just about edible (but cold - thank goodness for the microwave !!!!!), but there was always a choice. The drinks rules and regulations were totally absurd, you could only drink them around the pool bar ( up to 10.30pm.) and disco bar ( 8.30pm - 9.30pm.). Not much use when the nightime entertainment was not until 9.30pm. or 11.00pm. The bar staff were on the whole courteous and fast at serving apart from when the all inclusive was due to finish. On the whole however, the holiday was O.K., but I would not go back to the Mirador or recommend it to anyone.

Booked an all-inclusive week at this hotel not knowing what to expect. Hotel was excellant with good size rooms and very clean. Choice of food was good and so was the quality. Pool area was nicely laid out and considering the size of the hotel the pools themselves were never that crowded. My only critism would be the evening entertainment although the animation team did a very good job. Overall great value for money and we would definitely go there again.
