Nice aparthotel

12 August 2008
We have just returned from the Jardin De Playa , two adults and our five year old son - the apartment was large enough , decor a bit dated but clean , beds comfortable. The pool was lovely with lifeguard on duty and a small beach to go swimming in the sea. Laura on reception was one of the kindess , helpful ladies as we had a bag lost by Ryanair (will not be travelling with them again) and with her help and Steve who knew someone at the airport , got our bag back - THANK YOU. Lots of bars , restaurants and shops around with the square round the corner with nightly entertainment.

Happy Days!

27 July 2008
This hotel was really good, clean, good pool for kids, good food that i found cheap. Has a little beach just next to it also which was great. Ideal location just near the main square where all the free entertainment is every night. Great family holiday spot......

VERY ENJOYABLE

25 July 2008
We stayed in this hotel in July 2008 and had a great holiday. We had previously stayed in the Jardin Del Mar but we found the pool there very deep for our children aged 7 & 5. The pool at the Del Playa was fantastic as was the children's entertainment. Would recommend to anyone with children. The Del Playa is directly behind Spanish Square (although there are about 25 steps to get there). Returning next year what more can I say.

We went to this hotel in June 2008 and had a lovely holiday. The hotel was really really good. We asked when booking the hotel for a sea view and got just what we asked for. The food was very good and all the staff were helpfull. It was nice and quiet at night, so after a night out in Santa Ponsa you could have a good nights sleep and lie in every morning. The meal times were nice and long so you did not have to rush down for breakfast or dinner. Good pool for kids. A lovely holiday and will go back again.

good value

28 June 2008
Just came back from a 4 day stay at the jardin de playa the apartments were basic but clean. The pool was a good size & lifeguard on duty all day, plenty of sunbeds mostly irish english & scots staying when we were there and it was a good atmosphere all round. I would stay at these apartments again as although they are basic they are cheap & clean. A bit dissapointed about the indoor pool (it was drained during our stay) but we had great weather so the kids were happy enough.

Enjoyable stay

06 June 2008
Just arrived home after ten days at the Jardin De Playa. Clean, comfortable rooms and a very good bathroom - powerful shower, good size bath and loads of hot water at any time of the day. Spent most of our time (when we weren't out and about) out on the balcony overlooking the lovely, well-kept grounds and the pool. Maid service was very good and clean towels were always available. We had a kettle for our tea and coffee needs and did boil some eggs and make toast (over the gas flame!) but we ate out most of the time and didn't have much need for cooking facilities. I'm sure we would have managed if we had to but toasters etc. can be hired if you want them. The rooms could do with a few hooks here and there for hanging things up and also some drying rails or facilities on the balcony. We'd brought our own line and pegs though - you just can't hang everything over the balcony rails! The swimming pool was a bit bracing (!) but it was great once you were in and cooled us off nicely after sunbathing. Predominantly Irish people staying when we were there, with a few Scots and English and a mixture of others. Very few Germans around and no big rush for sunbeds! We had a great laugh with our fellow guests who were all very friendly and good-humoured. Evening meals were excellent value - especially if you like a big choice of salads. If I could eat like that every day, I'd never eat meat again! The waiters were very friendly and attentive. We found the breakfasts a bit greasy but we soon found Teazers where they serve one of the best breakfasts in the place! Avoid the California, near the supermarket - their eggs are like nothing on earth! Good apartment for the price and in a resort with plenty of entertainment to suit all age groups. Can't complain. Would definitely go back to Santa Ponsa which we found was very clean and there are a few good places to visit using the local buses and taxis. I would have no problem staying in these apartments again. I would agree that the resort is quite hilly and not really suitable for anyone who has trouble walking or has any ailment that would make walking a bit of a chore.

14 DAYS

18 May 2008
we have just come back from our 14 day stay at this apart-hotel we were greeted by a young lady who spoke beautiful english and was extremely pleasant and who genuinly was interested in your outward journey to mallorca we were directed to our room and in all the years we have travelled abroad these beds were the most comfortable we have slept in ,we were half board and the food choice was incredable waiters very friendly kept the dining room spottless and the various display of food by the cheffs was lovely by using silver foil and various vegatable leaves and fruits was very good we could only find one fault was the outdoor pool was so cold it took your breath away but we would certainly go back again the whole resort was very good and very freindly

resort is not for anyone who has any difficulty walking. hotel is clean and staff are are friendly and then it goes downhill, literally! bar shuts without any warnings, food was the worst i have ever had, overcooked and cold. sun loungers are the cheapest variety that you can't adjust. don't think you can have a nice walk in this resort unless you are into hill walking. looking at some of the comments already made would make you think it was us, believe that at your peril. this hotel apart from the bad location badly needs upgrading, to get a pan out of the cupboard you had to open the fridge door. but the room did have a kettle.

Fantastic Value!

03 May 2008
I stayed at this aparthotel in April with my fiancee, our daughter and my fiancees grandmother. All of us were a little bit wary as we'd only paid about £50 each to stay self catering for 10 days. We were all expecting a 'Fawlty Towers'!!! However we were very pleasently surprised. The rooms and the hotel itself were clean. The maids were friendly and kept our apartment immaculate, Reception staff were pleasant and helpful, Bar staff were also fantastic making a fuss of our 4 year old and winning teddies off the teddy machine for her. There was kids mini disco every night and a quiz or bingo for the adults with a bottle of champagne or cash rewards. The pool was cold but I'm sure it warms up in the summer sun. Although the weather was lovely most days, others it was a little bit windy. There is also an indoor pool and facilities to book a massage. All in all we were really pleased with everything about this aparthotel. It was juat a short walk to other bars, restaurants and shops and Katies bar in the square does the best fry-ups in town! If we go back to Santa Ponsa we would definately stay at this hotel and have recommended it to family and friends. It catered for all of us from age 4 up to 64 and none of us had any complaints.

Short stay

06 April 2008
Just had 5 days in this apart/hotel. Not too bad except avoid room 225. It is next to the reception area and lifts and was so noisy. Large groups booking into reception up to Midnight, shouting and laughing. Cleaners clattering in the mornings. Apart from that a good value hotel. The outdoor pool was freezing cold despite good weather. The sandy cove adjacent to the hotel is not as picturess as described. More like a rocky cove full of sea weed. Nice bathing and swimming area just a 2 min walk around the cove. Plenty of parking in under ground car park and walking distance to Santa Ponsa and numerous eating and drinking establisments. Supermarket also nearby.

Cheap & cheerful describes this hotel. The rooms are cosy (small), bright (if you ask for seaview), homey (housekeeping visits erractically) and kind of like camping with old 70's furniture in a new-ish concrete pad. However the bathroom fixtures were brand new, the TV dials in 3 24-hr news channels in English so you will be absolutely up-to-date on world events should you desire to stay glued to the telly. There's scads of frumpy pubs, your local away from your local right around the corner. We stayed in a kitchenette suite that meant the little gas burner stove was fired by a tank in a cupboard. No microwave, no toaster so be prepared to 'rough' it. The outdoor pool looked great from afar, but was freezing. The heated indoor pool was warm and alive with plenty of screaming kids. The beach is a rocky alcove, but if you hoof it for 5 min you'll hit a finger of sand where you can stretch out in the Mallorcan sun even in March where the high temp hit 21C. We didn't partake of half board choosing to explore Spanish restaurants that we're quite good and not pricey. Overall we enjoyed the hotel and the civil behaving staff. We'd stay here again as you can't complain about anything in relation to the price and location.

Seldom in today's world do you truly believe that you've had a bargain when it comes to accomodation, well the Jardin de Playa in late March at £18 per room per night is a cracking Bargain.

The apartments are generously proportioned, clean and with basic facilities like TV / Fridge / Cooker. The bathhroom was immaculate and the power shower a delight after a hard day's work in the Mountains.

Reception was friendly and the bar / pool area was always clean and tidy, if a little smokey late at night.

Overall this has to be the bargain place of the island, and free carparking! BBBBBBAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGAAAAAIIIIIINNNNN

Excellent value accommodation. Clean, well maintained, bike-friendly, good enough. Reasonably good location, well served by taxis and buses, good parking facilities. Been here on 4 spring time cycling holidays now. Unusually, the place was full this time so maybe the word is getting around. Not 5 star but let's not pretend the price is 5 star. Faultless at 9 quid per night.

Lovely clean hotel only problem was we were the only english family there so we felt out of it. The entertainment started late at night so was no good for us. The indoor pool was nice and warm and the kids loved it. Meals were a funny concoction but plenty to choose from. It was very quiet for christmas wouldn't go again this time of year although the rooms were lovely and warm.

We have just got back from Le Jardin De Playa in Santa Ponsa on Thursday 31st August. We arrived at the hotel to find there was only one room available which we were told was not a very nice apartment, so they offered to take us to another of their hotels 1/2 mile away (Punta del Mar). The other hotel was beautiful the pool was on the edge of the sea and the balcony overlooked the sea also. The next day we were transferred back to the Jardin De Playa and after being in the Punta Del Mar the night before this was a slight disappointment! The Jardin De Playa is a nice hotel but it is a 3star so facilities were very basic especially the rooms.  The kitchen area is tiny and one of my children slept on a bed thet pulled out from under the settee where my other child slept. The main bedroom was fine and the bathroom was adequate.  We paid for breakfast each day and there was plenty to eat, the children loved being able to help themselves to all the different food available though some of the dishes were a bit strange to have at breakfast time! The beach as described on the internet cannot be called a beach it is basically two ledges for sunbathing only.  The main beach about 10 minutes walk away is lovely and well worth going to.  The pool at the hotel is great also, there is a deep area and a small shallow area for younger children. Santa Ponsa is a lovely resort and the Square is good to go to in the evenings. Young children and older children will enjoy it.  I hope this review is helpful to anyone wanting to book this hotel, we had a good holiday you get what you pay for!

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which was spacious but basic.
Being self catering we were suprised there was no microwave or toaster. Beds were not the most comfortable we've ever slept on.  The hotel was very German orientated, so needless to say you had to be up early (7.30am) for a sun lounger, but I can assure you the Brits are just as bad at putting the towels down to reserve them for the best spots, as it was very busy being the 6 weeks school holidays.  Very good for a quiet holiday, there was no music blaring and no reps in your face. The childrens play area was for toddlers only and the pool had no shallow end as such, as our child (5yrs) was too old for the toddlers pool but was but was out of his depth in the main one.  The private beach described is overated with very little sand and very rocky, but has a beautiful view.  In my opinion this hotel is for families with toddlers or teenage children.

Hotel was a standard of 3 star, but rooms were slightly tired (our lamp did not even have a lampshade)But cannot fault maid service - regular and efficent.
Hotel location was good as we were a young family of four, pool area could have been kept tidier and the hotel is offered all inclusive for German visitors - this meant bar and ice cream for other guest were expensive(dont worry lovely wee beach around the cove where there is bar facilities which is friendly and cheap and nice to escape for a hour a day).

Entertainment was non exsistant but close to the Santa Ponsa Square where entertainment is nightly and ideal for families _ Plus side to this was that when you returned to your hotel it was peaceful and easy to sleep.

On the whole good family value holiday.

JULY 2006 WE REALLY ENJOYED SANTA PONSA,FAMILY RESORT.INITIALLY WE WERE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE ROOM & THE VIEW [SIDE SEA VIEW ROOM]NOT WORTH THE SUPPLEMENT.THE ROOM A LITTLE SMALL WITH VERY LIMITED ROOM FOR CLOTHES,BUT WE HAD TO MAKE DO!!THE COMPLEX WAS INANDATED WITH IRISH PEOPLE WHO WERE LOVELY,OUR TWO 6YEAR OLD GRANDKIDS MADE LOTS OF FRIENDS,ALL THE STAFF WERE BRILLIANT,THE STAFF IN THE KIDS CLUB TRIED REALLY HARD TO PLEASE I APPLAUDE THEM.THE HOTEL IS LOVELY AND CLEAN THE MAIDS ARE VERY PLEASANT AND OBLIGING.THE HALF BOARD BASIS WAS WELL WORTH THE MONEY,DINING ROOM STAFF WERE EXCELLENT,COULD HAVE DONE WITH A LITTLE MORE CHOICE ON THE MENU BUT,WE DID EAT WELL THE WHOLE 10 DAYS.THE POOL AREA GOT A VERY BUSY,YOU MUST BE UP AND WAITING BY 7.45 TO RESERVE YOUR SUNBEDS!!!!!!! HOTEL IDEALLY SITUATED,3MINS FROM SQUARE WHICH IS A MUST,15MIN STROLL TO MAIN BEACH VERY SHALLOW AND VERY SAFE FOR KIDS.I WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL FOR A FAMILY VALUE FOR MONEY STAY.VERY ENJOYABLE,THE KIDS THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT,WHO ARE WE TO ARGUE!

Hotel was excellent value for money, rooms nice and spacious, maid service every other day. Staff friendly and welcoming. Lovely location in the quieter part of Santa Ponsa, overlooking a small cove, just a 20-25 minute stroll to the beach and centre of the resort. Kids loved the pool but otherwise facilities were disappointing: bar area ok, restaurant uninspiring/little choice of dishes, entertainment "team" appeared to consist of one girl and the entertainment seemed to focus mainly on the German guests. Overall, good value hotel for a relaxing break close to the island's main attractions (Pirates, water parks, Palma, etc.)

On arrival we were sorted straight away and were delighted when we got to our room it was clean spacious and the view from the balcony was great on the first floor overlooking the pool and to the right of us was the ocean. The pool area was clean and a nice crowd of people. We didnt go to any of the entertainment held in the hotel but there seemed to be plenty on. we went up to the square which was just 5min walk from hotel which had live music and shows every night and facepainting for the kids plenty of seating areas and snack bars and shops with souviners and novelties for the kids.
The restaurants were much the same but good on the square and cheap to eat out. A resterant we went to many nights was 'Romania pizza', very friendly staff and resonable, good choice on the menu and the pizzas were fab. It is situated walking out of the square go up hill past supermarket and down about 3 or 4 resterant on your left, try it.
I would not hesitate going back again, if you like bit of quiteness and good entertainment close by i'd recomend this place.

This aparthotel complex was obviously of a very good standard when it was built, however time has took it's toll on it and could do with a bit of TLC.
All in all a good holiday was had and staff were friendly.
As a family we were dissapointed in the entertainment as what was on the notice board did not always occur and the childrens club wasn't encouraged or publicised enough.
This accomadation is a cheap and cheerful holiday base.

23 April 2006
The hotel is situated in a good location, close to all local shops, supermarkets and the 'square', where there are plenty of family bars to choose from. Although we went out of season in early April, there were still many bars and restaurants to choose from although the bigger ones remained close. The hotel was very clean, linen changed 3 times in a week. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were basic but sufficient, views are good if u get a pool/sea view. The pool is very large and always clean - indoor pool wasn't that heated, but good for the kids. Beach is just rocky area leading to sea, no sand, but the main beach, which is very clean and welcoming,is 1o min stroll away as is the main town area. Recommend Duke of York and Rein restaurants for top quality food at excellent prices , with very good service. The California cafe by the hotel is also excellent for lunchtime or breakfasts - good prices for the quality. Snack bar at hotel by pool was closed so cant comment on food there! Its a Lovely hotel to stay at if you don't want to be in the middle of everything - can imagine how busy the centre gets in summer so this hotel is perfect for both relaxing, yet close enough to walk into the nightlife. Taxi and bus stop 2 mins away..1o mins to palmnova - 8euros. Choose this hotel and you'll have a wonderful holiday - definate recommendation to all.

When we arrived at the apartments they were full, we had to stay the night at the sister hotel Punta del Mar, we were well looked after, a taxi was booked and paid for by the hotel and we even had complimentary breakfast! This did not spoil our holiday as it was a very nice hotel. The next day we returned to the apartments to be given an apartment with a fantastic pool/sea view. The apartments are basic and a little dated but they were spotless clean with clean towels most days. The pool was very nice and the staff were very friendly.
The resort of Santa Ponsa was quiet and had a wide variety of very good restaurants, we ate at Granny's, Oeste, Duke of York , La Jardin and crocodillos, all were very good and reasonably priced.
When you come out of the complex Don't turn right, go left or up the steps opposite the complex, this will bring you into the Square and will save you 15 mins walking time!

The hotel was pleasant enough, Santa Ponsa has everything you may need though if you catch a bus into Palma make sure you get the direct one. (102) as the slow bus (104) takes 1 hour 15 mins. We stayed at the Apartment Option which was really cheap, £120 for week in April ( 1 Bed). Maid service was a bit unpredictable most days just emptied bins other times did the whole apartment!, There were two ducks swimming in the outdoor pool daily which led me to beleive there was enough chlorine in it. Reception desk was not skilled in people relations, but thats quite common. But on the whole it was very good for the price, basic, clean, plesant and cheap.

Review of 'JARDIN DE PLAYA'

21 March 2006
We have just returned from an eleven day winter break and have had a super time. The weather was perfect and the apartments likewise. The rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious and adequate - kitchen had a full cooker, frige/freezer and plenty of hot water- fully equipped bathroom -large balconies [big enough to take the easy chairs on and relax in the sun.]

We chose to go half board and could not complain about the food at all. There was plenty of choice and they catered for all diets. The food was hot, well presented and plentiful in amounts. Waiters were pleasant and efficient. They kept the restaurant clean and tidy.

It was very quiet, with very few bars and cafes open. This suited us completely but for anyone wanting a lively holiday, then this is not the place, at this time of the year. The bars were opening up by the end of March.

The downfalls were that  -- we found the area quite hilly and for anyone with walking difficulties, they would have great problems but the hotel had been adapted and was wheelchair friendly.
-- some of the rooms were quite dark due to being in the shade of the trees. Ask for a pool view in the main block and you will get the sun on the balcony all day.
-- the better beach was a good walk away and the path along the coastal path was very rugged and uneven.

Would we go back here again?
Yes, without a doubt- but at this time of the year. The summer months would see the resort as a hive of activity which would suit young couples and families with children - it would be noisey.

We stayed at these apartments on a low season holiday and although there were very few of the shops and pubs open, it suited us completely The weather was perfect -mid 70's to 80 for ten of the eleven days we were there - and that was in March. The apartments were spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped - the kitchen had a full cooker, fridge with a small freezer and plenty of hot water. The heating system was efficient and effective.Towels were changed on alternate days and beds weekly.Balconies were big with ample room to sunbathe. Very pleasant reception with 24 hour cover. We went half board and really could not complain about the food - it was hot with plenty of choice and amount. The only downside was, that the area was hilly and for people with walking difficulties it was a problem - but the hotel had made adaptions and could accommadate wheelchairs. Also some of the rooms were quite dark due to surrouding trees - so ask for a room overlooking the pool. Would we return here? Yes, without a doubt in the winter but it would be too lively in the summer for us - however for younger people and families then you would not go wrong in booking your summer holiday at this aparthotel.

Just returned having spent half term in this hotel. Everywhere was clean, the room serviced three times during the week. All staff were very helpful and welcoming. The food in the restuarant was very good (even my two daughters found it to their liking)with an assortment at each meal.Little difficult to find in the dark on the first evening (night arrival) but proved to be a good base to travel the island. Would definately return for another stay - out of season. Would probably be too much at the height of the season with the number of apartments and local bars.

short stay of two nights only, we found room to be dated but very clean with loads of space. We had a good view of the sea,the large balcony was fantasic. We did not eat at the hotel this time so unable to coment on the food, although we noted the prices were very reasonble.
It is our 25th wedding anniversary in April and we are looking foreward to booking another weeks stay.
The hotel rate is very good value for money.

We stayed in the jardin De Playa over the New Year in a self catering apartment which was kept very clean and warm. The hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly. The location is excellent for families who like the entertainment at "The Square " in the evenings and handy for the shops as well. We would certainly go back at any time of the year. Towels were changed frequently and the beds made every day. We would recommend the Hotel and Apartments to anyone.

Just got home and had a fantastic time. The Hotel was as many of the Reviews stated clean but alittle dated. Could do with a general lick of paint and new Lamp Shades!!! Those that have already stayed there will understand. Wonderful location and our room had a beautiful sea view and a large balcony. Santa Ponsa was a great base resort that caters for all. We did not go to the square a bit loud and cheesy for us, however if you go into the harbour you will find lots of nice resturants that are fairly priced. You must try Maxwells for your breakfast so friendly and spotless you could of eaten off the floor and the best breakfast ever, it was a five minute walk from the hotel. I would definatly return to the Jardin de Playa staff were excellent and the entertainment kept us entertained certainly the Brazilian Dancers!! The taxi from the airport will cost 35 Euros and a taxi into Palma around 22 Euros and to the Water parc only 10 euros Book the water parks at the small excursion shops dotted around Santa Ponsa they will give you children free saving your taxi fare. I would definatly recommend this hotel to anyone. Have a wonderful Holiday.

This aparthotel was ideally situated for families with children under 10.  It is approx 20 mins walk from the main santa ponsa beach but does have a small sandy/rocky cove immediately outside the blocks, my children spent most of their time in the pool though which was quite cool but didn't seem to bother them! The centre of the resort was also 20 mins away but we rarely went there as 'The Square' was a minutes walk away. There was entertainment and bars here to keep everyone happy and very child friendly, you could keep an eye on your children easily. We really enjoyed it and would definitely reccommend going.
