Establishment An established hotel in Paddington, the Dolphin has occupied a place in central London for over twenty years. Having built a respectable clientele from all over the world and especially from neighbouring countries, as well as Scandinavia, Italy, Germany, Hellas and the USA, the Dolphin Hotel comes widely tried, tested and reccommended by its past guests. The Dolphin Hotel occupies an attractive victorian building, first built in the 1850s, situated in a tree lined square around one hundred yards away from Paddington main line and underground stations, while Hyde Park, Madame Tussaud's, the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Oxford Street and numerous other London attractions are all either within walking distance or within easy reach. The area is covered very well by a number of restaurants, which offer food of different tastes including Indian, Italian, Greek and Chinese food. Many original features of this building have been restored with the comfortable lounge being one example, located on the ground floor of the hotel, offering relaxing views over a delightful garden. The hotel's aim has always been to offer value for money and good service for a budget accommodation option. All rooms are equipped with satellite televisions, refrigerators, kettles for tea/coffee making and direct dialing telephones. Most of the rooms at the Dolphin Hotel also have hairdryers, trouser presses and safes.

What our customers say

This hotel is very much what you should expect from the price. It is clean and tidy but somewhat worn and being an old victorian terrace there are lots of narrow stairs. It is set on a pleasant square which is also right next to the underground station at Paddington so there is train noise much of the time. We were on the 3rd floor in a room sold to us as a quad but actually having 5 single beds (useful to know if you are a bigger party!). The hotel is linked to the Shakespeare next door and that is actually where our room was. The room had a tiny ensuite and a TV but i suspect that not all the rooms do as there were also bathrooms on soke of the landings. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The reception area has a small lounge and separate games room with pool table and slot machines. The continental breakfast included is plentiful (on a help yourself buffet) but not very exciting. They do offer a full english as well which you pay extra for and that looked very decent from what we saw. Be warned however, there are a lot of residents and a fairly small dining area so if you leave breakfast until after 8.30am you may well have to queue!
