Great Location
02 August 2008
The location for the Diplomatic was perfect! It was easy to walk to all the main sites. The staff were nice and helpful and the room was really comfortable. We highly recommend this hotel. We'd definitely stay there again.

Rome..what a city!
24 June 2008
We were extremely pleased with the location of this hotel. I had chosen it mainly because of the feedback from previous guests. It was so central that within ten minutes you could be standing on the Spanish Steps or in front of the Vatican! The room was cool and comfortable, just what we needed after sweaty walks round the city (and the bathroom had a fab shower!). The breakfast was a lovely continental selection and well presented. The staff friendly and always helpful. We found some really nice places to eat within close proximity to the hotel, again as recommended by others are Vito's Restaurant which was good, the Professionisti (which just happened to have the most amazing Tiramisu cake) and the Cafe Roma which was very reasonably priced. The Diplomatic is an excellent choice for a city centre hotel enabling easy access to everything you want to see and a good base to come back to. We would definitely stay here again!

Rome in May
19 May 2008
We felt the location of this hotel couldn't have been better. Everything is a short walk away and the area feels very safe.We had some lovely lunches and dinners out on terraces at local restaurants. The room was fairly quiet for a city and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was good and not too small. The breakfast was very good. I love cake at breakfast. We would definitely use this hotel again.

50th Birthday Celebrations
13 November 2007
The location of this hotel is excellent if you want to sample the Italian way of life. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I contacted the hotel direct and they arranged for champagne and fruiteon arrival and upgraded us to a kingsize room at no extra cost. The room was facing the road but very little noise could be heard but maybe in the summer months it might be noisy. The towels and toiletries were changed daily. There is a lovely breakfast room and terrace. Good choice for breakfast - meat, bread, rolls, fruits, yogurts, cereals, cakes etc. and the waitress was very friendly.
There is a good choice of restaurants nearby as already mentioned by Graham in an earlier review. Vito's and the Picola Irpina are definately the places to go for a taste of Italian food. We walked to all the main locations from the hotel and were glad to return across the Tiber to our area in the evening.
I would recommend the Diplomat and we are planning our next trip already, excellent value for money

First visit to Rome
30 September 2007
The Diplomatic was the ideal place to stay as it is situated within easy walking distance of ALL the sites, and near to the river. If strolling around doesn't appeal, or you want to get your bearings before you start you can literally walk out of the door onto the tour bus which stops directly outside every few minutes. The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean with towels replaced daily as you would expect. The breakfast was continental style and included juices, cereals, tea, coffee, ham, cheese, fresh bread rolls, yoghurt, fruit salad and peches in syrup. There was also dutch toast with a choice of preserves. The breakfast room was spacious and the staff polite. Vito's (just across the Road) is definitely the place to eat and close enogh to stagger back to the hotel and into bed after a tiring day, also the Picola Irpina Restaurant its used by the locals and is'nt full of tourists. There's a good choice of food on the menu which is fresh, reasonably priced and is full of flavour --- To get to this restaurant turn right as you come out of the hotel cross the main walk for 20 yards then turn left and its approx 800 yards along the side street (at night its shown with a green neon sign saying Tratoria). the Proffesionalist cafe next door is OK for coffee and cakes but not for 2-3 course meals. would also recommend the ROMA PASS , 20 euro for 3 days, free bus rides, free access to the first 2 museums (without queuing !) (take the colloseum , most expensive and the longest waiting time) anyway i'm starting to ramble now so if your still reading this go to Rome, stay at The Diplomatic you won't be dissapointed!!!!!!!!!!

La Dolce Vita
10 August 2007
This hotel provides a perfect base from which to explore the city.If you are a walker/stroller you can explore from the Vatican to the Colosseum at your own pace with ease. There is also easy access to bus routes/tours unless all your loose change went in the Trevi earlier.Local eateries are available but within a 15 min gentle stroll you are in P.Navona with further options en route. The rooms are clean with good bathrooms/ air con and a mini safe .Only downside is that there is no tea/coffee making facilities in the room for a brew on returning from all this exploring- there is a mini bar in the room. The location is quiet with no major nighlife causing disruption in the early hours.Breakfast is continental style and adequate.Staff friendly and professional. Would stay here again.

Great Place to Stay in Rome
04 June 2007
The Diplomatic is an ideal place to base yourself for a trip to Rome, indeed this is our third stay.
The staff all speak very good english and are very polite and always willing to help you.
The rooms are spotlessly clean, as is the rest of the hotel, and the buffet breakfast is adequate.
The location could not be better and is superb value for money.
All of the 'tourist sights are within a steady stroll of the hotel (40 mins max), and places like trastevere (recommended for a 'boho' look at rome, and much cheaper eating and drinking) are also within 20 mins walk.
We wouldnt stop anywhere else.

PERFECTION!!! Don't look anywhere else!
05 April 2007
The Diplomatic was the ideal place to stay as it is situated within easy walking distance of ALL the sites, and near to the river. If strolling around doesn't appeal, or you want to get your bearings before you start you can literally walk out of the door onto the tour bus which stops directly outside every few minutes. The rooms are extremely clean with modern bathrooms - and a long deep bath which i loved after all that walking (just allow plenty of time for it to fill!). I think it's true to say that the front rooms are slightly bigger but the back rooms are quieter. As we went in March and were happy to close the window at night we opted for space - having said that we were so tired every night we could probably have slept on the road itself and not heard the traffic! The breakfasts are excellent - fruit, yogurt, juice, bread, sheeses, cold meats and a variety of delicious warm pastries - oh, and some of the best cappucino you'll find anywhere in Rome! There's no bar or restaurant but we got take-away gin and tonics from Proffesionalist next door (and bedtime pastries and capuccino) and found several good eating places. Vito, down the street opposite was our favourite but ask the friendly receptionist where he would recommend. We're 2 ladies in our 40s and we felt perectly safe walking around this area at night. I can't write any more - it's making me pine to be on the next plane back! Stay at The Diplomatic - you'll love it!

Review of hotel 'DIPLOMATIC', Rome
01 April 2007
This hotel was awesome for a short break in Rome. We stayed for 3 nights and had absolutely no problems. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless, the staff friendly (they spoke perfect English!) and the breakfast was simple, but just what we needed! The hotel is also in prime position for all of the main sighseeing places and is a brilliant base. A very very enjoyable stay! I would definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone!

This hotel was absolutely perfect! Centrally located between the vatican and the spanish steps, trevi fountain etc. Everything within walking distance (the coliseum is approx 40 mins slow stroll if you walk directly without stopping to look at all the other fab sites around!!) The hotel itself was gorgeous, the room huge and the bathroom very very nice. Breakfast continental style and the fresh pastries every morning were beautiful! can not recommend it highly enough

Review of 'DIPLOMATIC'
26 June 2006
Hotel is really well positioned for a weekend trip to Rome. Located centrally between the Vatican and the Christmas Steps. A number 87 bus outside the hotel will get you to the Colosseum for 1 euro! Hotel is pleasant but not the best 3 star hotel we have stayed at. Everything was clean, and the hotel staff were very freindly and helpful. The breakfast [buffet style] was adequate, but not exceptional. Very basic other facilities. Would definately go back here again as it was so central and quiet at night! The air conditioneing was fantastic after a hot Rome sight-seeing day!

DIPLOMATIC Heaven
30 May 2006
We stayed at the Diplomatic from 26th - 29th May and found the place fantastic, the room was beautifully decorated with a 40s/50s era feel to it, the bathroom was superb, and the shower definitely had some power, just what you want to wake you up for another day seeing the fantastic sights of Rome. Breakfast was perfect, continental style. The staff were brilliant and very helpful. We were recommended a very romantic restaurant "Valentinos", and we were not disappointed! The concierge even noticed my birthday was exactly the same as his and mentioned it, how's that for attention to detail! The location of the hotel is superb, a few hundred metres from the Tiber River, and very close to Vatican City. All the rest of the main sights were within walking distance as well. If your going to Rome for a weekend break then stay here!

Review of 'DIPLOMATIC'
15 May 2006
Upon arrival, the concierge knew my name, and had everything ready. The room was small, but nice and clean. There was a television, but no english-speaking channels. The bathroom was great, although no bathtub. The only drawback was that there was only one electric outlet, in the bathroom, and it was not possible to charge my computer there, as it was only for "plain" European electric outlets (don't know the English term). Breakfast was served by two very sweet and efficient women, and although plain, it was good and filling. The hotel is located in the center of town, but a little bit off from the worst tourist traps, so it's quite peaceful around the hotel (compared to other places in the city). My room faced the street, but this caused no trouble or discomfort. I would certainly recommend staying at the Diplomatic.

Review of 'DIPLOMATIC'
28 February 2006
Could not have wished for a better location with easy walk to all the attractions (although public transport is fantastic). The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating, having no problems with looking after bags after we'd checked out, or for when we had a late check-in. Rooms spacious, clean and modern, and breakfast also above average. We will return to Rome, and we'll happily stay in the Diplomatic again.

Review of 'DIPLOMATIC'
26 June 2005
We stayed at this hotel from 10th-14th June. It is a good basic hotel which is an excellent location. All the sights of Rome are within easy walking distance. We stayed on the third floor at the back of the hotel. The bedroom was not too small but unfortunately the bathroom was cramped. We had the opportunity to see one of the rooms on the front of the hotel and although the bedroom was smaller it had a better layout with a much more spacious bathroom. The breakfast room was more than adequate and the food provided was good, although there was not a great deal to choose from. The staff at this hotel were very pleasant and helpful. We found a good bar/restaurant close by called Vito's which was excellent and at the end of the road just before crossing the river there is restaurant that sells divine desserts which are not to be missed.
