Flying visit to London
10 March 2008
Stayed at the Crown Plaza whilst visiting London with my son, who has learning difficulties. The staff service was superb and made my son so welcome. The room was ready early, which helped greatly and bathroom facilities were excellent for his care. We only had breakfast in the restaurant but the service and food were faultless. This is the only hotel I have stayed at in the uk where gluten-free bread was available for breakfast. My regards to Salvatore on reception, who used to live in Poole and visit my local pub on Poole Quay - many thanks

Great london hotel
27 August 2007
This hotel was a great base for visiting London. We managed to find it with ease, very close to Liverpool Street station. The restaurant is fantastic with great views over London. The rooms are very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was even ready for us early so we managed to drop off our bags and get changed before heading out. would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent hotel, have stayed on several occasions when it was known as the St Gregory. Standard of rooms high, well furnished with good facilities. Staff are warm and welcoming with professional attitude. Food good and views from the restaurant are wonderful. Situation is good for travellers to City and those from the East of England. Hope Crown Plaza maintain the same standards without too high price increases

The hotel St Gregory is very ok. The setting is very good. I chose the hotel because I needed to get to the Stansted airport very early in the morning. It served its purpose. Talking about the room bar, I think the rules are very tight about 30 seconds and no free bottle water are very tight. Another area of concern is list of TV channels, There are no sports channels like Sky Sports 1. Otherwise, I enjoyed my short stay.

Although the Hotel was a little difficult to find (for someone who doesn't know London) it turned out to be a little gem. The staff were both friendly and efficient, the car parking was secure and extremely convenient. The position of the Hotel was great - only a five minute walk from Liverpool St. Station making all of London easily accessible. Breakfast was good with great views from the rooftop restaurant, with plenty of choice and loads of it for the bigger eater. Only gripe was that the GLobe restaurant is not open at the weekend so never got to eat there. Area does look a little dodgy when you arrive, however walked around the streets at night with my wife on numerous occasions and never once felt nervous.

The hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious with a settee and coffee table as well as desk etc. There was also plenty of storage space.Bathroom was similarly spacious and well equipped. Our room had been recently refurbished.Although on a main road, it wasn't noisy.Breakfast was good with a wide choice ranging from cooked English (- try the sausages!) to a tasty cold meat and cheese section, along with plenty of fresh fruit and cereals. Restaurant gives a penthouse view of the city if you're at a window table.Lounge area allows you to watch the world pass by and was popular, as was the well stocked bar. Staff were efficient and helpful.

Good value for money, well-located hotel. Standard double room is compact but nicely decorated with usual four star touches (in-room safe, mini-bar, internet access and TV with satellite channels. Also gym facilities available). Stunning view over the City of London from the breakfast room on 7th floor. Breakfast excellent with good variety of choice. Quick check-in and all staff well presented and courteous. I would stay here again.

Excllent well presented hotel 1/2 mile from the main business district of London.
Comfortable and clean rooms with good facilities. Good breakfast overlooking the city (7th Floor). Only real drawbacks were the extortionate prices for food and drink, which led me to seek food outside from a range of dubious looking kebab shops.
All in all a good deal for £100 inc breakfast.

Brilliant hotel, buses outside hotel cost 3.50 per day and you could go anywhere in the London district up to 4.30am the following morning. We requested more tea/coffee facilities and we had them within seconds. Staff were helpful in all ways - breakfasts were good too and as for the view of London from the seventh floor what can I say - it is just outstanding! Area outside hotel, however, would not be the best in London.

A very good hotel. We got a good deal with alpha rooms including breakfast. Breakfast is normally 14.50 sterling each otherwise. It is a minimum 15min walk from Liverpool street station which is probably the only downside of the hotel. Bedrooms were a good size and modern. Breakfast is on the top floor looking across the city, which is great. Only 4 stops on tube to heart of london. Quite close to St.Pauls and Tower of London. I recommend this hotel if you can get a good price including breakfast and dont mind being a little bit away from city centre.

Review of 'SAINT GREGORY'
11 September 2006
I’ve stayed at Saint Gregory Hotel twice and each time it has been a fantastic stay. It’s in the up and coming area of Shoreditch and only 10 minutes away from the centre (and only 5 minutes walk from the infamous Spitalfields market) The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. We pre paid the second time round so check in took literally 2 minutes and they ensured that our entire group stayed together on the same floor. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds, mini bar and a TV but the best part of the room is the bathroom. There is a bath for those of you who like to have a long soak or there is a shower, which is amazing and certainly wakes you up after a long journey. You get a selection of goodies, from shower gels to hand creams which for a change smell wonderful. The curtains block out the light completely and the windows are double glazed so you cant hear any sound from the busy main road. Breakfast was in the globe restaurant which is situated on the 7th floor so the views of the city are amazing. The breakfast staff were very attentive and helpful and we never felt pressurised into hurrying up. The selection available was great, from chocolate croissants to a full English, and fresh fruit and cereal for the health conscience. I have recommended this hotel to several friends and family and they have all been equally impressed, especially considering the cost of the rooms which is around £65 a night per couple. The only downside is the cost of parking which is £20 a night, but for the centre of London where parking is very limited I wouldnt expect anything less. Best to travel by public transport anyway as the tube station (liverpool Street) is about 5 minute walk away and the traffic can be a bit horrendous on the road. Whenever I visit London Saint Gregory will always be my first choice.

I stayed at st Gregory and I was impressed with the decor. It had an international feel to it. The reception was air conditioned, bright, stylish and modern. Check in and out was easy and staff were friendly. The rooms were clean with good facilities i.e hospitality tray, mini bar, tv, internet, telephone and was well impressed when I switched on the tv and it had a message. Welcome Caroline Moss, we hope you enjoy your stay. We had breakfast and there was a good variety and it was good food. It was served on the 7th floor and had a good view of London. I definetely would recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a 4* hotel and deserved to be higher

The reason I stayed at the St Gregory was for easy walking distance to Interquad Training centres near Liverpool Street Station. The rooms are very comfortable with all the facilities you will need; including internet access, good quality ensuite, satellite TV. You get a fantastic price from Alpharooms if you book a room with breakfast, because the breakfast is excellent. The breakfast is on the top floor overlooking the City through large windows. Overall the service is also excellent all-round. I can think of nothing better value (if you book through Alpharooms at least).

looked good to begin with, with a weekend offer. £70 instead of £200. However because it is in the city of London which is empty at the weekend most of the facilities were closed including the restaurant. Breakfast starts at 7am which was too late for us. we were advised to have breakfast delivered to the room at 6am and advised to fill in the card of our requirements and leave on the dooor. We ticked for cereal, warm rolls, toast, croissants, fruit juice, tea and coffee - what we got...4 slices of cold soggy toast, no butter, 7 pots of jam!! tea and coffee, no milk. no fruit juice, no rolls, no croissants at a cost of £19 pp. Because the retaurant was closed the night before, we were advised we could eat in the bar, which has a nice decor and is clean and comfortable, however sky sports was booming out for the ammusement of the bartender as there was no one else in. 3 screens and very loud!! rooms are clean and nice but small. up earle and asked for coffee in the lobby, told they couldn't do it, but you could order a sandwich!!!! In fairness we was refunded for the breakfast, but never recieved a reply from my letter of complaint. good value for the room as it was discounted, but there is no way it is worth the full price

Hotel was very nice, clean and modern. Nice chilled out bar. Only problems encountered - no twin rooms available when checked in, they tried to give us a King room, which was no good, after some pressure, they gave us two separate rooms. Also, breakfast was okay, had to ask three times for tea, the service was slow and the food kept running low and ran out of juice glasses for 20 minutes.

A real find! A friendly welcome, helpful, courteous staff enhanced our family wedding. We had 6 rooms between us and everyone was delighted with the spotlessly clean, modern facilities, easily accessible to Old Street and Liverpool Street. Breakfast was generous and delicious with a very good choice. The only negative was the croissants - bit hard - but if that's all the fault 11 people could find then it says a huge amount for the hotel. We'd certainly stay there again.

My family and I booked several rooms at the Saint Gregory last weekend because we had a wedding to attend in Shoreditch Town Hall (my son's, in fact). So, logistically the hotel couldn't have been better: we were able to walk the cake round and then ourselves wearing full wedding rig. We were happy with everything about our stay. The welcome was wonderful: one member of your staff at the Reception desk particularly deserves commendation. When I visited some weeks ago to make sure I had a car parking space reserved, he noted my name, remembered it on the day, saw us approaching the grille leading into the car park, came down and helped us most courteously with everything. The rooms were lovely and clean and new. We very much enjoyed breakfast (excellent) looking out over London from the 7th floor - such a good idea. The best thing of all was that at £61.50 for 2 the rate was cheap enough to encourage us to come again if we want a weekend base near the City (and other attractions like the lovely Geffrye Museum).

Hotel a little further away from the tube than expected but once there the distance was irrelevant as public transport directly outside the hotel. Very modern and bright. The bedroom was larger than expected with useful accessories of internet use and television. Bathroom was lovely. But the best was yet to come. The breakfast room/restaurant had stunning views on two sides all across London, St Pauls' Cathedral, Post Office Tower for examples. The breakfast was smashing, fresh fruit and full english breakfast. The service was good. All in all it was a shame we were only staying for one night. Would definitely stay there again.

This was a very pleasant stay. The staff were very helpful and polite. The room and en-suite were very clean and tidy and the beds were comfy. The hotel is a 10 to 15 minute walk from Liverpool and old street subway stations and the buses you can catch right outside the hotel will take you to them if you don`t fancy the walk! If you fancy a change from the very pleasant 7th floor restaurant why not seek out brick lane, only ten minutes walk away and home to the largest gathering of Indian restaurants you`re ever likely to find, some of which don`t sell alcohol but you can take you`re own! Also close by is the famous petticoat lane market. My wife and I would definately recommend this hotel, so - go for it!

The Saint Gregory is a great hotel. It is very clean, spacious and modern. The staff are very helpful and cant do enough to help. The rooms and bathrooms are in excellent condition and have everything you need. The breakfast is served on one of the higher floors of the hotel and has excellent views overlooking the city. There is always plenty to eat in the buffet breakfast and food is of excellent quality. The bar in the hotel is also very modern and again the bar staff are very friendly. Whilst this hotel is a bit of a jaunt (10-15 mins) from the underground dont be put off. There are buses directly outside the underground and a number (22 - i think) takes you to the hotel door step. This is our second time at this hotel and I would really recommend it.

This is our second time staying at St. Gregory and there will definitely be a third!! We booked this as a treat to ourselves after having a fabulous time seeing a show and having a meal in Covent Garden. We didn't want the hastle of ending a great evening by rushing to get the last train home or paying high prices for a taxi back to Hertfordshire.
It is excellent value for money. Rooms were more than adequate and spotlessly clean. Great service and food at breakfast. Definitely thumbs up. I'm not too sure what transportation is like from Hotel into centre of London because we have on both occassion taken taxi's (only 10 minutes to Covent Garden). We have already recommended Hotel to friends when visiting London.

I would definitely come back!! This was my third stay in a London hotel and the first and best in St. Gregory. I've already recommended it to all my friends who want to go to London and would do so to anybody else. The location was pretty good as the hotel is not far from Liverpool Street Station and there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel and all buses go to Liverpool Street Station and various other directions. There's another bus stop up the street where you can take the 55 which goes directly to Oxford Street. So the public transport connections from the hotel are pretty good. The hotel is very modern and the staff friendly and warmhearted. The service is great and the breakfast on 7th floor with that beautiful view over the city is the best start for a day in London to think of. I was there after X-Mas and for NYE and because of the music played all over in the hotel I was always in a good mood. The rooms were quiet and the beds very comfy. So if you look for some relaxation during a visit to the busy city of London stay at St. Gregory. I would love to get back there.

Christmas was different this year!
27 December 2005
We have never stayed in a hotel for Christmas, but wanted to get away, so chose the Hotel St Gregory after a search on the internet. The hotel is quite new, trendy and a bit misplaced. I haven't been to the Shoreditch area but found our way around easily as we had planned to go to the midnight service at St Paul's cathedral. Note: Everything was closed by the time we embarked on our journey on Christmas eve! We did managed to get the tube two stops to St Paul's though before they closed for Christmas! The breakfast at the hotel was ecxellent, as was the Christmas lunch - don't expect vegetables, so if you hate Brussels sprouts, you're in luck! The staff were very friendly and there seemed to be enough of them on duty except housekeeping on Christmas day. I will definitely be going back there, before next Christmas! Note: Don't believe those other reviews that complain about the walk to Liverpool Street, it's not that far from the hotel!

Not the perfect location for tourists but good for business in the city.
