Would Recommend this Hotel

09 June 2008
In the Costa Brava Hotel as we were going to Tossa de Mar for a short break of 4 nights. The hotel although only a 3 star was excellent. The rooms were spotless and the bathrooms had been recently re-furbished. The food was a bit basic but edible but the dining room and staff was very good. We were really amazed to find an excellent Spa, gym and sunbed room on the ground floor of the hotel (not that we were into a great deal of exercise) but we did enjoy the spa experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and I have infact already done so since returning to England. If we go to Tossa de Mar again (which I am sure we will) I will definitly book this hotel.

COSTA BRAVA HOTEL

25 September 2007
Very nice hotel in a superb position 5 mins from the beautiful beach of Tossa de Mar. Very comfortable, spacious and clean room only let down was the over busy dining room at breakfast and dinner and food not very good but this is what you expect in Costa Brava hotels. Would recommend you swap dinner for lunch in this hotel as the dining room is much more relaxed with no queing. Very relaxing and laid back holiday, we enjoyed it very much.

costa brava tossa de mar

11 September 2007
We found this hotel very good value for the money. The staff were really helpfull and friendly. I have 2 children under 2 so the hotel provided 2 cots with themed bedding which the kids loved. you can also hire a fridge for the week at 15 euros which was very handy. I also needed a microwave for a steriliser which you couldnt hire, however they let me use the one in the restaurant and the one in the staff room. Although the rooms could do with some updating they are very clean and got cleaned every day. on the negative side you can hear every thing in the next rooms bathroom. The food we found to be ok with plentyof choice. next time I think we would go b&b as there is loads of really nice restaurants in tossa plus evening meal isnt served till 7.30 which I found quite late for my toddler. Tossa de mar is a lovely place and will definitely go back next year and would use this hotel again however I would not use alpha transfers again as what should of been a 45 min transfer took 2 1/2 hours as they went to 3 other resorts first. so if you have young children I would recomend you get a taxi outside the airport.

The Costa Brava Hotel

26 August 2007
We stayed in the Costa Brava in August 2007 and had a great time despite some mixed weather. The hotel is clean and well-run with a lovely outdoor pool. The indoor pool and jacuzzi are small but whenever we went, there was room for us. We have 2 kids aged 10 and 12 (girl and boy) and they loved the food - plenty of choice at the buffet for breakfast and dinner - and the evening entertainment. All the shows were very professional and Mum and Dad enjoyed them too! Lots of French and Spanish guests as well as English - a good mix and very much a family hotel and resort. We'd be very happy to go back.

Good holiday

02 August 2007
Stayed for a week in the last week in July 2007 with my mother 68 and daughter 15 and niece 13. we all really enjoyed our stay at the Costa Brava, the hotel was OK, very central for all the sights. The food was adequate and very good value for what we paid. Don't expect 5 star quality, when you don't pay 5 star prices. The staff are very friendly and we had no problem with them speaking English. The rooms were clean and comfortable. For a cheap week in the sun in a very pretty location the Hotel Costa Brava is ideal.

A hotel that should do better

22 July 2007
We stayed at the Costa Brava Hotel in July 2007. Service at the reception was useful although indifferent. Rooms are very nice and big and bathrooms are beautifully appointed with spa showers (wrong investment though for the type of hotel - cheap). However they are noisy (see other reviews) and could be cleaned better - also soaps, shampoos, etc. are not refilled after the first day, company policy...! Good choice of TV channels. Chambermaids kept entering the room for service without knocking - really annoying at 10am! Food was abundant but of the lowest quality - who the hell wrote the other reviews? As long as you have your baked beans in the morning, isn't it ?!!! Some waitresses didn't clearly want to be there. And then, what's this thing with the English language?! Apart from the reception it looks like no one wants to speak it, even when they know it - this seems to be a common problem in Catalunya. We thought we would be more valued as tourists and customers! Common areas are very tired. If you do get a very cheap deal, then go. If you don't, or if you are fussy about food, then look somewhere else ;-)

Costa Brava Hotel

06 July 2007
Stayed in June. Had to change room three times due to proximity of the kitchen, and worse the noise in the bathroom. The vents in the bathroom mean you here everything in the nexts rooms bathroom. The pool is small with limited sun and the beds are grabbed by the 9am rush. The food typical spanish buffet style. Okay if you want a cheap deal but not if you are looking for a decent break in a nice hotel.

Review of 'COSTA BRAVA (TOSSA)'

21 September 2006
We have been going to the Costa Brava Hotel since 1984 - not many years have we missed! All the staff are excellent. The meals have improved immensely over the years, with plenty of choice. The only critism being that the dining room could be bigger to accommodate the hotel when full (which it always seems to be whenever we go) which causes some waiting for a table if you dont queue up for dinner at opening time. The rooms are adequately equipped and always kept spotless.

Review of 'COSTA BRAVA (TOSSA)'

20 July 2006
Quite disappointed with this hotel. The carpet on the stairs was extremely dirty and very worn. The bar was very out dated. We could hear people in the corridors at night and the residents in the rooms on both sides of us. We could hear the activities in the bathroom next door through a vent in our bathroom which was not very pleasant. The food selection was very poor and not of the best quality. The pool was quite rowdy as the main activity seemed to be people pushing others in, which at times was very dangerous if not annoying! The entertainment only consisted of one girl who was good but it was difficult for her to keep it going at times. would not book this hotel again.

Review of 'COSTA BRAVA (TOSSA)'

10 June 2006
Have just returned from an enjoyable stay at Hotel Costa Brava.  We found all the staff to be pleasant and the cleanliness of the hotel excellent. The location is good with the beach a short walk at the end of the road. There are a few stairs down to the swimming pool and dinning room.  I travelled with my married daughter.  Although we did not have children with us, the hotel is very popular with both English, German and Young Spanish families.  The hotel runs a childrens programme and fortunately, we never found a problem with children running wild.  The evening entertainment usually started with a mini disco for children and some nights live entertainment.  It could have been better, ie The clown for adult entertainment would have been better suited to the mini club.  The food was good, always fresh,
and always a choice of meat, fish or pasta, plus salad etc. Tossa de Mar is a very quiet place and by 12.00pm everywhere is closed.  We really enjoyed our stay, but would have liked a little more evening entertainment. If we went back to Tossa de Mar, would definitely use this hotel again.

Review of 'COSTA BRAVA (TOSSA)'

12 October 2005
We had a week half board in October 2005.  What a wonderful hotel!  Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the facilities were excellent - indoor & outdoor pool, gym, sauna, lots of sunbeds.  The staff were friendly and very efficient. The food was good but basic.  We ate out a few times at night, just for variety.  Tossa de Mar has lots of good restaurants especially around the old town, which in itself is a charming traditional resort. The beaches are good but it is the coastline that takes your breath away - stunning!  I would recommend both the resort and hotel to couples 30+, not really a place for young people (no loud music bars) and not enough for young children.  We booked our hotel through alpharooms.com and chose a low-cost airline.  Excellent value for money.  We will be back!!!

did some of these people really stay at the same costa brava hotel as we did??. I paid a single suppliment which I thought was for a double room, it was a single shared with ants. the disabled facilities weren't working as there was no staff to operate them and there are two flights of stairs to the dining room. The hotel wasn't interested, food was disgusting, handbag was stolen from the dining room again hotel showed no interest, wouldn't even get the police,as we suspected a member of staff. Our advice is to be very careful if you are going there or better still don't go at all

Had a short break in this holel may 2005.  It was lovely and clean and rooms spacious.  The food was basic but nice.  Don't know if it was because it was a bank holiday but alot of older spanish arrived at the weekend, they all talk at the same time and it was a bit noisy.  Facing the pool is lovely and quiet but the raodside rooms are noisy.  Tossa is a lovely little place, people were very friendly and some lovely bars and restaurants.  A couples place really nothing for children.  Would definitely return one day.

Review of 'COSTA BRAVA (TOSSA)'

24 July 2005
The hotel rooms were excellent with good air-con, the food was dreadful, aimed at North Europeans, so all fried, nasty potato salad out of a tin and drinks expensive.  We spent a week in Palamos before coming to the Costa Brava hotel, and had had lovely traditional food, so the Costa was a big disappointment.  It had very good facilities with pool out and inside and the staff were very helpful.  Tossa itself was quite nice, although the beach was quite packed and once you have walked around the old town nothing much else to see ! although a good base for a day trip to Barcelona.

Review of 'COSTA BRAVA (TOSSA)'

18 July 2005
I fully endorse the previous review and won't go over the same ground but I agree that the Hotel Costa Brave is excellent value for money in all respects. It's not just the salads in the restaurant that are worth praise as I found the main courses and desserts to be very good also. Some of the sauces were 1st class. The choice appears limited but this is a 3* hotel. Some reviewers on other sites seem to think that you get 5* choice at 3* prices. The bedrooms also deserve mention as they have the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in on holiday. Sat TV is also provided but who watches TV on holiday!! The resort is perfect in all respects except that it is NOT for teenagers who want noisy bars. There are only 4 discos in the town but as I didn't visit any I can't offer an opinion. Tossa rules - I'll be back for sure. Special thanks to Alpharooms for great service & prices.

Review of 'COSTA BRAVA (TOSSA)'

22 June 2005
I stayed a total of 6 nights in this hotel (4 booked with Alpharooms.com and 2 booked directly with the hotel, and it was cheaper to book with Alpharooms.com)and would definitely recommend it to anyone considering it as an option.

Very clean & efficient, food was excellent with a very good choice for breakfast and the salads at dinner were scrummy!

There was entertainment every evening suitable for both adults and children and a clean good sized pool, although I went to the beach which was only a ten minute walk away. Tossa is a very small, quaint resort and nothing is very far away, unless you stop to window-shop on the way which is always a danger with so many shops in the town! At the main beach there are excellent facilities also and spotlessly clean public toilets with loo paper, free of charge!

Supermarket, chemist, bars and restaurants are all within a five minute walk from the hotel, including the weekly market held every Thursday.

If you do choose this hotel I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay in Tossa as much as I did.
