Review of 'Cimbel'
16 April 2007
Stayed in this Hotel 11/04/07 to 15/04/07.(It rained everyday whilst the UK hit 25 deg C, typical!!)
Hotel looks a cut above the normal Benidorm hotels from the outside and the reception, bar and dining areas live up to this.
However, I found the bedrooms very plain, and in places requiring attention. We were in a double deluxe with a sea view and although spacious, with a large balcony, it was certainly nothing to write home about. The location is excellent, on the beach front within easy walk of the old town. We anticipate that its location could be quite noisy in high season with late night human traffic making its drunken way back to their own hotels, and we experienced some of this even at a quite part of the season when it is traditionally older Spanish tourists in Benidorm. The Hotel does not seem to be available/or used by UK tour operators and so is not full of 'Brits' which can be a good thing depending on your outlook, but the staff speak English and seemed helpful. Breakfast was fine with a typical continental selection with warm bacon and eggs on the buffet also. Although we didn't book lunch or dinner, it was very popular with the other residents. Pool and pool area looked very clean and well laid out. The hotel is not in the middle of a very busy 'bar' area as we have seen that other hotels are and is easily accessible from the main road.
There are one or two of the nicer type bars nearby and some nice places to eat within easy walking along the front and on the mainroad one street back from the front. I think staying in the hotel is much the same as other activities in Benidorm, you need to make the right choices of where you eat and drink if you want to avoid what seems to be the typical Benidorm experience. This hotel was the right choice for us, (older people 45ish, who like a late drink),I would stay here again.
