The Hotel Chelsea, Cologne doubles as a contemporary art gallery as well as a hotel. In every room, including the hallways you’ll find pieces from a range of artists – most of them connected with The Chelsea in some way. Situated in the Belgian Quarter in the centre of Cologne, next to the Rudolfplatz, the hotel is just 15 minutes drive from Cologne/Bonn airport. The train station is just five minutes away – putting all the major attractions of the city and beyond at your fingertips. There are 35 guest rooms with each featuring en-suite, telephone, TV, free WLAN internet access. The hotel’s “Café Central” and its adjacent bistro “o.T.” serve delicious cuisine from breakfast onwards and can cater for private dining on request. As well as serving food and drink, this part of the hotel has inspired some great conversation, as it has since been used as a base for philosophical lecture and discussion. There is an official exhibition centre in the hotel – but you’ll have trouble finding it with artwork on every wall! There is an outdoor terrace with palms, banana and bamboo plants which make for a beautiful atmosphere when the weather allows. There is also a conference centre in the hotel with space to accommodate up to 25 delegates. Parking is available to hotel guests and garage parking can be made available on request.

Described as the "hotel different" is pleasantly so! Theme is artworks and they are all over the hotel,in every room and hallway. Cute small hotel with Bohemian feel. Excellent onsite upmarket gourmet cafe/bar equally popular with hotel guests and locals, and their dogs. Busy, day and night. Breakfast deal includes table d'hote buffet, but hotel happy enough if you try the excellent a la carte, and pay the small difference. 3rd floor bedroom we had was really a small suite, with all mod cons incl cable TV, minibar, laptop safe, and wireless LAN. Clearly "gay-friendly" but by no means exclusively. Certainly pleasantly lively. Rudolfplatz (tram and Underground hub) 2 minute walk away; main station and cathedral 5 mins by tram. A few hotel parking places opposite. Several 24hr multistorey car parks very close too, together with loads of international cafes and bars. Nice view of cathedral from bedroom from small balcony. Most enjoyable stay.
