Charming Charlemagne
01 April 2008
I find it difficult to believe that this hotel is only a 2* rating. For an inexpensive break to Paris, it has everything you need. The staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel is small but well decorated and very clean. The location is good with a variety of bars and cafes/bistros for eating out and the hotel is within 50m of the metro so central Paris is within easy reach. The breakfast cannot be faulted for variety or value. I'm happy to recommend this hotel to friends and will definitely stay there again when I next visit Paris.

Easter Weekend '08

Very happy on all aspects - cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff, location and price. Rooms small but cosy. The only damper was the miserable weather, however if I do return to Paris in summer it will definitely be to the Charlemagne. Two thumbs up!!

review of Charlemagne hotel

stayed at this hotel for 4 nights over New Year and overall could not complain about the value for money. rooms are on the small side but spotlessly clean, with the room being serviced every day along with clean towels. great shower, only criticism would be that the breakfast room is too small for size of hotel so you have to time your visit right, aim to go about 9.45 am and you should be OK. Staff v.nice and best thing about the hotel is the fantastic location. plenty of bars, restaurants, shops etc in immediate vicinity. short walk to Les Sablons area and 1 minute walk to the nearest metro station which will get you anywhere in Paris, we got a 3 day rover ticket for €18 each. the metro service is the best I have ever been on. cheap, clean, reliable, safe trains even ran all night on New Years Eve and it was free! would stay at this hotel again, if ony for the location and cost

Fantastic
22 September 2007
I went to Paris with my Mum for the weekend. We were worried that the hotel was too far from the metro, but it was only two minutes from the hotel. Apart from the fire alarm going off during the night, due to the sensitve smoke detectors in the rooms, and one of the guests having a cigarette in the room. It was an excellent place to return to after a long hard day sight seeing.
The square was lovely and the resturants were excellent. I would highly recommend it to others.
Just make sure you have the telephone number of the hotel so if your taxi drivers cannot find it you can call for directions!

Review of 'Charlemagne'
24 February 2007
Before arriving I was worried that Charlemagne might be too far from the centre of Paris but it was perfect. It is located just off a main transport route into Paris centre and is a two minute walk to the nearest Metro station. It is a lovely location with Bars and restaurants all within easy walking distance and Paris' 'Green Lung' only a short Metro ride away. The Metro line is a direct link to some of Paris' best sights eg. Arc de triomphe, Champs elysees, Concorde and the Louvre. The Hotel itself was very pleasant and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I would be happy to stay here again on my next visit to Paris.
