Review of 'CENTRAL HOUSE'

24 July 2006
It was pretty awful.
The location is good. The staff on reception polite and the bedding and towels were clean and changed each day but it is difficult to recall any other "positives".

The premises appear to be two town houses knocked into one which gives a "rabbit warren" effect. The double room which we were allocated was literally an attic, on the fourth floor, with two single beds pushed together. The bathroom was extremely cramped consisting of a wc, shower cupboard and a miniscule handbasin. The restraining bar was missing from one of the windows meaning that it had to be shut or wide open.
The lift was out of order for the full three days of our stay as was the internet facility in reception.
At breakfast we had to queue up in he back yard waiting for a table to become free in what appeared to be a converted basement store room that was in no way adequate to accomodate the number of guests staying.when we eventually got seated there was no milk in the coffee machine and the fruit juice had run out.
Seventy one pounds a night! There having a laugh!!

Review of 'CENTRAL HOUSE'

The double room contained two single beds pushed together in a room barely big enough for a single bed. We could not move around without resting on the beds. The tea and coffee shelf was not realy wide enough for a cup and saucer. The ensuite facility had 6 inch + step up into an area little bigger than a shower cubicle containing a shower, toilet and sink.
The continental breakfast was a free for all in a room too small for the capacity of the hotel.
We had a concern that the Fire Alarm went off more than three times during our weekend and there was no evacuation and no checks by the staff.
While the hotel was clean and looked good on the outside and the area had everything you would need, the rooms were distinctly claustrophobic when compared to even the most basic Travellodge room.
A three star hotel it was not, I would not recommend this hotel.
