Antigua Suites

24 August 2008
Just returned from 2 weeks self catering at the Castillo San Jorge Antigua Suites. The hotel was lovely and clean and the 2 bedroom apartment was spacious enough for 2 adults and 3 children (12, 9 & 7), with a huge balcony. The self catering facilities in the room are limited, with a 2 ring hob and microwave. Toaster and kettle need to be hired which is a bit of a rip off, but we ate out every night anyway! Rooms were cleaned 5 out of 7 days, linen changed once a week and towels were replaced every other day. Looked at the food a few times in the hotel restaurant, didn't look to bad although didn't eat there ourselves. The pools were clean, but quite slippery, saw quite a few kiddies take a tumble. Also you do need to be an early riser to get a sunbed, once or twice the staff would go around and remove towels that were put out if no one was there. The major downside for this hotel i think was the entertainment, or lack of it!! It was pretty dire most nights, and almost impossible to get a table round in the entertainment area unless you were there about 7.30, kiddy disco started at 8.30 so kids were bored by the time it started. Hotel is in a good spot in the resort, easy to walk to most places. Restaurants are pretty good locally, but for great value for money, large portions and good food go to the Trafalga which is just at the end of the road. Had a good holiday, but i wouldn't go back to this resort again, unless your all inclusive with a good entertainment facility at your hotel there isnt much to do in the evenings.

Good and Bad points

28 July 2008
Spent a week in the Antigua suites. Room was not clean on arrival. I asked for the cleaner to come up again and she did but without a cloth/mop. I advised her room wasnt clean and she continued to clean with a piece of toilet tissue. I then spoke to management who arranged for room to be cleaned thoroughly. Location was good. Very handy to all amenities. We were all inclusive. I wouldnt recommend it as resort offers all vast rnge of excellent restaurants all offering meals at a reasonable price. Pool was great but had to get up at 7.45am each morning to guarantee bed. Wouldnt recommend leaving it tho as your towel would be promptly removed. Had a good hol but wouldnt go back.

Castillo San Jorge

15 July 2008
Just returned from Caleta de Fuste. Stayed in Antigua Y Suites for fourteen nights. Room was regularly cleaned & faced the front despite the fact that we had booked a sea view. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the room we received had sun on the balcony at night. The facilities were superb for families with children. There was a choice of pools & restaurants. We can recommend the Buffet restaurant which gave exceptional value for money. There was an excellent shop on site for gifts, etc. and a choice of super markets. There was also a bookshop where you could obtain second hand books cheaply. The apartment was well positioned to access by walking the local beaches, shops, restaurants, etc. Only complaint was the fact that people threw towels on sun beds early in the morning yet nobody utilised the sun bed all morning. On two occasios the Apartment addressed this problem by removing all towels placed on sun beds before 8.30 a.m. In summary this apartment provided great value for money in a clean & safe environment. The local police were very prominent around the area and this gave an assurance of overall safety. James & Sharon 15th July, 2008.

Absolutely fabulous!

29 May 2008
We have just returned from a weeks holiday, staying at the San Jorge hotel. We had 2 children (age 2 and 6) and they didn't want to come home! We paid 6 euros a day extra for a seaview room, and it is definately worth the extra money. Thankfully we were all inclusive, as the food & drink seems quite pricey now. We truly could not fault the hotel in any way, the food was great & most of the time hot (even incl crisps & water bottles), our room was fab (had 4 seperate french doors leading onto balcony, from both bedrooms & living room). I think if you were self catering, the kitchen appliances are a bit limited. The staff were so friendly, and loved the kids. The hotel grounds & rooms are constantly cleaned, the location is fab, quiet, but only minutes away from beach & restaurants & shops. The mini disco is great for the kids but the evening entertainment was mixed, mostly good, but the odd night was not so good, but with having 2 young children, this was not a problem. To sum it up, we had a fantastic holiday, great place & great hotel & will definately be returning!

No sea views

15 April 2008
Disappointed, booked seaviews, but when arrived told there wernt any, even though the hotel was not busy. Clean hotel and good food. First morning safe would not open, asked for it to be mended was told it would take 2 days. I asked for a different room and was then told a man was coming to mend it, after 3 hours hotel told us to go out and it would be mended on return, but with nowhere for passports or our money we refused. Finally they changed our room, only wasted 5 hours of our 1st morning. The town is quiet and small, but ok for a week. Breakfasts were great , continental, full english, everything you wanted was there.

Great for a relaxing week away

11 April 2008
First time to visit San Jorge and really enjoyed. If there is one thing you have to do when visiting this complex it's to pay the €6 per day extra to get yourself a room with an ocean view. It's worth every penny!! Breathtaking! The rooms themselves are a bit dated but clean. They have a microwave, toaster, fridge + all basic cutlery you need. They were cleaned 6 days out of seven. Town centre is a few minutes walk away. If you're looking for a quiet week away to recharge the batteries this is the place for you, couldn't fault it.

Relax & Enjoy

04 March 2008
Yet again a visit to San Jorge. Three times last year and first of this years trips. All inclusive (again) which is great for kids (ice cream) and adults (drink) as both can add quite an expense to the holiday. The hotel is a little tatty dut its *** rating is more than justified with the staff taking it over the top. Plenty to do (previous trips) and this time we hardly moved from the complex. Kids (4 - 12) have plenty to do with the well run mini club and can join the other organised activities for the older ones (adults allowed!). Be aware if you win one you get presented with certificate after the kids disco prior to nightime entertainment!!! Finally review - Great for 1 week & All Inclusive best option.

28 February 2008
My wife & I stayed in Castillo Suites, part of the San Jorge complex, end of January. It was our second trip to Fuerteventura so we had earmarked the San Jorge on our first trip. We were not disapointed. We were self catering so we had a light breakfast on our balcony and ate out for lunch and dinner. I would advise spending a few extra euro for the sea view. We were on the 1st floor, one of the best views in Caleta. The hotel is not top notch but clean & tidy with friendly helpful staff. If you're looking for a relaxing winter break, warm enough for sunbathing, no lager louts, Fuerte fits the bill & the San Jorge is the perfect base, 10 minutes from the airport & within walking distance of all the facilities & ameneties you might need. We'll be back.

Great Place to stay

03 February 2008
We just returned from a week in this complex. I have to say it was one of the best places we have ever stayed!! The apartment was basic but very clean!!! our room was serviced every other day and we found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful. The resort itself is very nice if your looking for a quiet break. There are plenty of pubs and resturaunts to choose from with Tony Romas the best if you want a good steak!!! We are going to return to the same place in september for another week we enjoyed it that much!!!

great for a short break

02 January 2008
Just returned from 5 days at the st Jeorge, 1 bedroom self catering in calete feuste. Resort is 10 minutes from the airport and the taxi service was excellent 10 euros one way. Accommodation was a bit jaded and grubby but as we were only there for 5 days we did not make a fuss. The great thing about the st J. is that its very quiet so we had peaceful nights and slept brilliantly. Further along the complex was noisy as it was close to the night entertainment, pubs and cafes. The complex is divided into 3 parts each with their own pool but you have access to them all. Being the 27 th of december the pools were freezing and only a few ventured in . My 11yr and 8yr would not go beyond their ankles ! Night time was chilly and the complex only had one blanket per guest. we had to wait 24hrs for my hubby and I to get one so be warned bring a good fleece for night time. day time temps were 20-23 glorious clear blue skies and light wind. We did loads of walking , hired bikes , fed the numerous chipmonks on the cliffs and all in all enjoyed the hol. The only downside is that my 11yr got food poisoning on the last night( may have been chocolate icecream ) and was very ill. so the journey back was a bit traumatic. Hotel refused us an extra hour in our rooms while we waited for the flight so we had to wait in the foyer .(not impressed, staff not particularly helpful or sympathetic ) Anyway we were glad to get back and would reccommend calete de fuste for a short break, tho not if you are looking for spanish culture , its a very brittish resort, they even have a pub that show cornation st and emerdale! not to mention the tatoo parlors.

Brill Holiday

04 December 2007
We stayed at the hotel late November 2007. The hotel was great, friendly staff nothing was too much trouble. Room service was good and towels etc changed daily. We didn`t use the resturant but people said the food was quite reasonable. We had a sea view and the room was excellent, well worth any extra cost. Would go again but not much to see around if the weather was poor.

Paradise Found

23 October 2007
I think the title of this review says it all. I have stayed in Hotels , apartments, caravans etc etc but the castillo suites top them all. This is a quiet resort but then again the whole island is quiet. The apartments are second to none, imagine sitting on your balcony sipping wine at 1:00am with the waves crashing on the rocks in front of you. Well just ask for a sea view and you won't be dissapointed. Food is excellent with a wide range, something for everyone. Good sized pool and again you have the use off all the pools within the complex which is split into three seperate parts yet they do remain connected allowing you to walk from one part to the other without leaving the complex. Rooms are clean and spacious and if required you get english speaking channels on the tv which can be good for the kids. Staff are very friendly and always wiling to help. Going back again within the next few weeks it really was that good. Then again don't take my word for it, go yourself and I guarantee you won't be dissapointed.

17 October 2007
Just back from the San Jorge (All Inclusive). Went without the kids which was a mistake. Plenty of kids around so good spot for familys. The hotel was very good, location was good, ten mins walk from centre and beach. We were in a one bedroomed which was a good size but outside the bins were emptied at five in the morning every second day which was a bummer. The food was good and most of the staff were friendly (you alwas find a few of the others)The only problem was at night the bars got a bit backed up due to what seemed to be a shortage of staff and the bar people seemed to go at the same pace no matter how many people were waiting and they would not make any cocktails it took too long or the usual responce was that they were all out. Still no panick we were on holidays. The entertainment was no better or worse the similer places we stayed in. We Had a good time and would go back (with the kids) Good value for the price.

Excellent All Inclusive

Third time back within a year! Can of course find an occassional fault if I want to but excellent in all aspects - remember it's 3* but you honestly think it's more. Good for kids (4 y.o. now & able to go to the mini club), food varied & good, room good - was upgraded as becoming a regular! Staff although sometimes overworked with occassional queues make your stay enjoyable. Plenty to do outside the complex also. WILL GO AGAIN!!!

Fabulous Hotel

03 October 2007
Been here 3 times before and going back for a 3 week all inclusive stint again in October, can't fault the place, the staff apart from one were fabulous especially the bar staff, food great, drinks great and the room was well cleaned. The entertainment staff are good as well although they did remind me of the 118 118 guys but hey who cares. I would not stay anywhere else on the Island except here. Some folks can't be pleased where ever they go by reading some of the reports.

Relaxing as ever

12 July 2007
This was my second time there this year and will be looking to go back in the near future. Stayed in the Antigua hotel with a fab sea view apartment. Our maid was very friendly and helped whenever she could. My two daughters aged 7 & 6 had an absolute ball in the kids club and the staff was great with the entertainment throughout the day by the pool. The nightly entertainment was great most nights as good as you would get anywhere. All I can say is if you want to relax well this is the hotel and place to go.

Great holiday - yet again!!

11 June 2007
Just arrived back (well yesterday morning at 5am!!). Spend a week at these apartments, self catering, and you cannot really fault them. 99.9% of the staff are really helpful and friendly with the exception of the lady who serves at the snack bar.Apartments were clean -saw the occasional cockroach but i don't think they can be totally erradicated after all they were probably there before the hotels. No problems with sunloungers - plenty to go round. Daughter (11)loves the kids-club and the mini-disco even though she was the eldest there. Fantastic time, good company and great weather.

Good Value

06 June 2007
Couldn't fault this hotel. We stayed bed and breakfast and found the food to be very good. The rooms were clean and spacious. It was our wedding anniversary and my husband rang up a few days before to book a sea view (which is supposed to be 12E but they kindly upgraded our room for free as it was our anniversary). It was certainly worth the phone call! Although we didn't take advantage of the entertainment there seemed plenty going on during the day (water polo, table tennis competitions) and also in the evening with regular shows. Fantastic hotel and the staff were friendly. Certainly would go back again if I was visiting Fuerteventura.

A View from Ireland

23 May 2007
I travelled to Fuerteventura with my husband and two sons aged 11 and 4. I never booked by internet before and i would have to say thanks to reading previous reviews it was the best way to go. We went from Tuesday 8th May to Thursday 17th May. We stayed in the apartment and even though we arrived early the apartment was ready for us, which was a great bonus. We went bed and breakfast and it was great cos the buffet was very varied for all tastes. Also there was plenty for both my sons to do, the youngest loved the mini club and the eldest had a great time playing archery, rifling and water polo. The apartment was cleaned every day bar Thursday and Sunday and towels changed also when the room was being cleaned. The apartment was clean, spacious and the whole complex was spotless. One small criticism is that the television had no english channels, but it didn't detract from the holiday.

CHILL OUT.....

06 May 2007
Arrived at the apartments at 11:00 a.m. Check in was at 3:00 p.m. There was no problem and we only had to wait ten minutes for our room. We were self-catering. Reception staff were very welcoming. On our second day we changed to all-inclusive which only cost 300 euro for 6 days for 3 people. Food was very nice with a very good variation. Drinks were fine too. Our daughter was able to order cocktails ( non-aloholic) any time she liked. Plenty of entertainment for young and old. Try the archery and rifle firing. We had to ask for a change of room on third day due to noisy neighbours (banging doors) and this was done with the minimum fuss. All staff had a smile and the entertainment staff were great fun even if Oswald liked to cheat all the time. Thanks Guys. I would definitely recommend this place to stay and I look forward to a return trip. One complaint though, the cleaning was not great. our balcony was very dirty with dust and we had to sweep out under the bed. there is a lovely walk (paved) along the cliff top to the marina and beach.

Just returned from Castillo Suites again, been before 7 years ago and they are still as clean as they were then. Excellent value for money and would recommend to any one. We stayed in the Castillo Antigua self catering.
This complex has all one could ever wish for.
Situated on the rocky coastline of Calete de Fuste one can enjoy the breaking waves crashing against the coastline, watch the fishermen fish off the rocks, take a stroll along to the sandy beach, supermarket on site, facillites clean and cared for, staff some english speaking always helpful and pleasant, close enough to the centre but far enough from any noise.
Great too if you have children as there is a creche and playground and evening enterainment.
We will be back.  Great value for money.
Easy internet booking site too.
Thank you Alpharooms and Castillo Antigua.

07 February 2007
This is my second time at the castillo san jorge in a couple of months, the hotel was spotlessly clean as usual. It is in a great location in caleta de fuste, literally a minutes walk to local bars and restaurants and the shops are all within a 5 minute walk. The hotel itself also has a supermarket which opens until 12 at night and a couple of shops as well as entertainment every night including a kids club.Having been there before we asked for a sea view room this time and the view was beautiful. The staff are all very friendly and polite. The pool was very clean with numerous showers and sunbeds available.I would have no problem recommending this hotel,we have been twice now and when i go back to fuerteventura again i will definitely be booking the castillo san jorge hotel. The only reason i have given it a 4/5 instead of 5/5 is because the rooms do not have air conditioning and it can get very hot out so you might need it.The hotel has air conditioning in the lobby though.

Review of 'Castillo Antigua y Suites'

10 January 2007
Me and my partner stayed in the castillo antigua y suites for the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it.The hotel is broken up in to 3 sections, the suites, the apartments (where we stayed) and the family rooms i presume. On arrival we were very impressed with the hotel, the rooms were very big with a microwave ,cooker, and fridge which were all spotlessly clean. The hotel facilities were great with a restaurant bar and snack bar, there was also a clothes shop and pool tables available,as well as internet access.

There was plenty of clean towels available and the rooms were cleaned every day with a towel change every two days. There was a supermarket in the hotel resort which was very handy for any necessities.Literally two minutes down the road there was an english restaurant/bar called the trafalgar, the food was really gorgeous in there and we ate there the whole time we were in fuerteventura, they also got ''best food in caleta'' for two years running,The staff were friendly and polite and very helpful.

Overall it was a great stay and i would definitely go back, the taxi from the airport which is only 10 mins away cost €10 euro. There is also a market every saturday in caleta de fuste. The hotel staff were great they were friendly and polite and said hello everytime you passed them. When we were leaving there was a taxi outside within 2 minutes of requesting one,you really couldnt ask for better service here and we will be going back. They also had english tv in the rooms!!!!

Well received, excellent english spoken at reception.  The room was very nicely laid out.  We were self catering.  Kettle and toaster did not work, replaced immediatley.  Our  room was 2334 overlooking the reception and road, a bit noisy when you should be sleeping.  The facilities were excellent, everything you needed was at hand.  The pools good for kids and adults, plus entertainment was provided throughout the day and night.  We would go back again definetly, just ask for a quiter room.  For a great meal cheaper than the brit rip offs goto Casabel beside AVIS car hire.  Adios.

Ours had the largest pool, sometimes looked a bit murky but was cleaned nearly every day.The food in the restaurant was very nice, there was something for everyone. There was a meat and fish section which cooked food to your requirements. There were 2 playareas and activities for children.Ideal location on the sea front,2 mins walk to see wild chipmunks - kids loved it.The shops, bars and restaurants were only a short walk away in the town (suitable for pushchairs). My family want to go there again.

Had one of our best holidays here at antigua suites.  Hotel imaculately clean, rooms really spacious and the food and drink were of excellent quality (we were A/I) so were amazed at how good the food was.  Something for every taste, all fresh too. Had no need to leave the complex much as everything we needed was there on hand, pool areas lovely and clean and never any pre-booked sunbeds (though this was May so it was quite quiet)  We had 5 kids in our party who all had a blast too.  Only complaint if had to make one would be towel change, every day or other day would have been better than every third, but that would be it!  Would def go back again as could highly reccomend this hotel, especially if all incusive.

Just arrived back from Castillo antigua suites, only booked two days prior to traveling, three families with five kids (4 up to 10years).  I have to say had a fantastic holiday, every one in our party loved it.  The hotel/apartments are lovely and clean and really spacious. Loads to do on the complex if required, most of the staff are really nice. We were all inclusive which was a God send with having kids, and were really amazed at the quality of the food and drinks we had.  There isn't a huge selection in the resteraunt but everything was superb, with something there for everyone, (even parky people like one of our lot).  The only complaint I could make would be to have clean towels every day, as it was every third day they were changed.  But other than that it was brill.  Only left the complex a few times to shop but otherwise had no need to as it was all there.  Would def go back again.

We stayed here in May 2006, it was great, rooms were very spacious and clean.  We got a fab room with a view of the sea, all of the pools were very clean, glass screens keep the wind off you.  We were All Inclusive and we found this great.  Food was good, limited choice, but what was there was nice.

The snacks bars were great and the jugs of Sangria superb.  My only down side was the entertainmnet it was very limited, mini disco for kids only lasted 30 minutes, could have been better, but i suppose it was acceptable.

The hotel is in a great location for the shops, restaurants, beach and bars, you could make your holiday quiet or lively!!!

Would definatley look to book to revisit.

I can image this hotel gets very busy June - October, and you may need to fight for sunbeds and service at the bars.

Overall a great holiday, we travelled with another two families and we all enjoyed it

Hope you enjoy it too............

The Accommodation was a very Clean and Spacious 2 bedroom Apartment located in the San George end of the Complex (3 Hotels in 1)The food in the Buffet Resturant was Very Good and we ate evening meals for 12 days before feeling the need for a change. We found our hotel excellent value and would reccomend it to anyone. We stayed Half board for less than £100 more than the self catering option.

The apartment and gardens are excellent, reception is open 24 hours a day with helpful staff, the pools are kept in good condition with a lovely walk around the coast to the harbour and beach area.  Unfortunately the bar\entertainment area is used every night and the level of noise is very high.  In our second floor apartment, we heard every word said on the stage and the level of noise from the disco\karaoke was awful. This generally went on until 11.30pm which disturbed our 1 year old grandson each night.  We then had to put up with people rushing around the landings shouting on their way back to their rooms.  All the ground floor toilets were roped off including the disabled which meant my wheelchair bound husband had to use our apartment each time (thank goodness for the lifts).  We would stay in the complex again but out of season and well away from the bar\entertainment area.

Practically everything you would need can be found on the complex. Exceptionally clean.Very short walk to the resort centre but quiet enough to be able to relax away from the busier areas of the resort. In july 2004, taxi from the airport cost 10 euros each way.Overall, excellent value for money - through booking flights independently and the room with Alpha Rooms,we saved £200 each on the brochure price.
