3 nights at Caspel May 2008
17 May 2008
hotel fairly clean and tidy, almost all of the staff were excellent and so helpfull. Unfortunately the so called hot food at breakfast and dinner was dreadfull, no variety, and what was on offer looked as if it had been reheated day after day,had paid for half board, total waste of money as on the day I did eat dinner there, was dreadfully ill for hours, complained to reception and was assured things would improve, but if anything it was worse next day, That is only reason I will not be staying there again.Lady over 60

My Salou Stay in the Caspel
29 October 2007
The hotel was clean and well kept, breakfast was mainly continental but had plenty of food available including cereals, breads, cold meats, cheeses, juices and coffee. Staff were helpful and spoke reasonable English. I would stay here again and have no hesitation in recomending Hotel Caspel to anyone.

The hotel was cheap and close to the centre of Salou, the rooms were good but no maid service just replacement toilet rolls, we stayed here half board and the food was poor in choice and quality in the evenings, breakfast was a little better. The hotel has an indoor pool which was nice, due to the time of year the bar only opened for 4 hours in the evening. We would not stay here again, been to other hotels in Salou and had much better service and food.

As the others have said, the hotel was clean and for the money we paid(£50 for 3 of us for 4 nights full board)we think it was a bargain. The downside was the food, cold to luke warm and repetitive, fortunatly they have a microwave so you can heat it up for yourself, same applies to the morning tea & coffee. Also what helped to spoil it was they had about 45 teenagers from Ireland booked in who ran amok till approx.3am and the staff didnt seem interested in stopping it.

we went to the Caspel hotel in march 07,this is the 2nd time going there, rooms are clean and roomy, its a nice clean place to stay but we found that this time the food was not palletable we ate out at breakfast and dinner.hotel staff friendly enough, but we found that the bar was only open a few hours during the day,and from 7.30pm - 11.00pm.only 1 member of staff was ever there to serve so it was quite a wait for drinks.there is no early breakfast for those leaving early in the morning, our pick up was at 7.35am and i would have liked a cup of tea first.i know this is just on the edge of the opening season but as its one of a few hotels open its okay if you just want a short break.on the good side the weather was great so we made the most of it, and by the time we slinked back into the hotel, we were ready for nothing else only bed.ZZZZzzzzzz

For the price we paid (£27 each for 2 days full board)the Hotel Caspel was fine.
Only complaint would be food as could have been bit more choice of decent meat(not fatty lamb etc).
Other than that the Hotel is good enough for a short stay.

Having read reviews on this hotel only after i had booked i was expecting a poor hotel. This was not the case the hotel was a good place to stay, the staff were very freindly and helpful. Rooms were basic but very clean just what you need after all we were only sleeping there not spending all day in them.Food was not to my personal liking but i am a fussy eater, my partner had no problem with anything set out and there is a microwave the heat anything up if not warm enough. All in all a good hotel and would stay there again.

Hotel staff were very helpful, room basic but no complaints, food plain but edible, location ideal for walking but as the hotel is halfway up a steep hill it may not be suitable for anyone with walking problems, close to public transport, short transfer time to airport. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Hotel and bedroom were clean, and for £14 per night, who can ask for more? Also, good location with sea views.6th time using Alpharooms, and you always get a bargain and great service. Where else could you get dinner, B&B for this price? However, food at the Caspel was very poor(ate out mostly)breakfast and dinner limited choices and only warm(ish)and everything covered in grease! The staff we saw were OK but disinterested. Weather was fantastic for this time of year, so didnt have to stay in the hotel too much anyway Would not stay here again, but there are some other hotels with Alpharooms in the vicinity that look much better!

Review of 'Caspel'
02 February 2007
The hotel Caspel in Salou was clean and had good facilities e.g the indoor pool, sauna and gym. The bedrooms were spacious and well enough presented. However the main let down was the food.
The food was not hot enough which can be as everyone knows dangerous and there was not a great deal of choice for the main meals. Some of the food was poorly cooked and basic kitchen hygeine standards were not adhered to.The scrambled egg was black as a metal serving spoon was being used to serve it with causing contammination of the egg. The egg was also nearly cold. The lady who appeared to organise/manage the resturaunt knew that breakfast food was needing to be replenished e.g. bacon and eggs ,sausage etc but instead preffered to ensure that the bread rolls were stacked neatly avoiding repelenishing the food that people wanted to eat possibly looking to save money. The fresh orange always seemed to be "out of order" and the cofee machine did not have tea or coffee one of the mornings I went. The resturaunt lady also seemed over friendly with some guests and outwardly hostile toward others. We sampled some of the food and decided to eat out in the local resturaunts. Would I go back to the Caspel?I have to say No. Would I recommend it?No again. I met and spoke witn some of the other guests who felt exactly the same.I would be disappointed if Alphrooms.com did not act on this review and investigate the suitability of this hotel and the potetially dangerous effects underheated food could have on its paying customers. I have always wrote reviews for all hotels I have stayed in and have never had cause to write such a review however I am compelled to share my recent experience with all Alphrooms.com customers so that they too are not dissapointed by staying at the Caspel.

Rooms were not ready by 1.00pm on day of arrival, booked a double but that would not be ready till after 2.00pm, so opted for twin. Nowhere to get anything to eat or drink until 7.00pm when the bar opened.
In the restaurant for evening meal, not much choice either salad or lukewarm fish or chicken, tea and coffee not available at evening meal, breakfast only. Breakfast fare not much better, stayed 3 days and I never had a hot meal.
No entertainment, this hotel is best suited to business people, who want to use the conference facilities and the pool, gym and sauna.
No early breakfast on day of departure, although they know that the pickup for the flight is 7.35, a picnic can be ordered, but is more suitable for lunch.
Will not be recommending, lost count of how many residents walked in to the restaurant took one look at food and walked straight out.
Best thing was the sea view.

I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel as it was so cheap and the reviews I had read were mixed but I would recommend this hotel. The rooms were very clean, the breakfast was excellent , a choice to suit everyone, eggs, bacon, cold meats, cheese, cereal, juice, fresh fruit....need I go on. The lunch and dinner although not so good were adequate and the desserts were really nice. Also soup and bread available so there was something for everyone. A bonus is the indoor heated pool and there is a sauna and gym also. There is an outside pool and it was very clean, it was being cleaned when we were there. We only paid £58 for two of us for 2 days full board and you could not ask for anymore for your money. Here we pay more than that for room only at an hotel. The hotel is very near the beach and close to the centre. There is also a bus which leaves from outside Reus airport and takes you to the door of the hotels and collects you on the way back for only 11.20 euros. We will definitely return here in the very near future.

The hotel was ok so much as the rooms were clean, maid service and clean towels, the location of the hotel was great 5 mins walk if that, you could see the beach from the hotel.
The worst part of the holiday was the food I thought it was really inedible no choice at all and what food was put out did not appeal at all we ate out... the pool was not cleaned why we were there and found it to be very dirty indeed.
But........ saying that you cant expect diamonds when you pay for stones a 3night stay Half board cost £82 so cant really complain too much, it's a base which is all we really required.

The caspel hotel is a very clean and comfortable hotel where the staff are nice and friendly. The staff all spoke good english and were helpful. The rooms were cleaned daily and had a mini bar and air conditioning. The swimming pool is quite small but not bad and there is a small indoor pool and sauna's downstairs. The food was a buffet breakfast with cereals, hams, cheeses, breads, toast, juices, coffes fresh fruit bacon, beans etc. and was fine. The location of the caspel is excellent located less than a 5 minute stroll from the beach and shops. While you should'nt be expecting the Ritz it is perfect for the holiday maker that goes to the beach for the day, shops and eats out in the evening etc.I would certainly go back there for what proved a very enjoyable and good value stay.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for a week in July 2005. The hotel is nice and clean. The staff were very friendly. There is airconditioning in all the rooms, however it was very noisy and sometimes didn't work. The food was buffet style and the choice wasn't great we ended up eating out most nights. The pool was a small size, forget about trying to sunbath,as you were lucky to fit your sun lounger around the pool without hitting a bush ! the location was good, 5 min walk to the beach and the main shopping strip, there was a bit of a steep hill but you got used to it. There are other hotels for the same price worth considering instead.

On the whole the room was very basic. No mirror in the room only in bathroom. We were not given any details with regard to procedures in the dining room - we were not told where to get drinks whilst dining - we were not even asked if we would like a drink! The food was cold (pork steak) and if you didn't like chips hard luck. The pool was absolutely freezing cold and not a lot of space for the sun beds.

Overall great value for money. Rooms cleaned everyday, towels changed as often as you wanted. Breakfast was good but evening meal was basically the same every night but considering what your paying you can't complain. Location very central but you are on a small hill. There are some good bars and cafes just around the corner of the hotel, so unless you want to go down to the beach you can avoid the hill.

The Caspel was ok, would go again. The room was a bit small but we managed. It was cleaned daily, fresh towels. The meals were alright if your not too fussy. Plenty of food to choose from, continental and hot breakfast and dinner was varied. We have a 19 mth boy, the highchairs in dining room were not safe, as you had to attach it under the table. The staff were friendly enough. Overall, not bad value for money.

A review of Hotel Caspel and Salou
13 April 2006
A good central place to stay. The hotel is located 5 minutes to the beach and restaurants ( very steep walk up to the hotel). There is a good bus service to get around Salou. At the airport there is a bus service available to your hotel. The hotel is clean and basic. The food good but not fantastic and includes no detail as to what dish it is. Half board includes breakfast and dinner so you are not tied to the hotel during the day, but you have to pay for your drinks at dinner time. The hotel has an indoor pool, which was freezing and the outside pool is not available until May. Overall a good stay and would stay there again. Very good value for money.

We 4 elderly relatives have just been to the Caspel for 10 days,we found the staff very good but very thin on the ground. The dining room was a shambles at times ,not enough filling up or clearing away. We came to the conclusion that they did'nt have the food to fill up with. The breakfast was always cold, the cereals were chilrens choc balls ,we asked but nothing else appeard. We never sawthe famous Spanish salad bar no toms or cucum or onionsor lettuce. The disabled were not caterd for we had a wheelchair passenger the ramps OK but we could not get the chair inthe toiletor bathrooms. The indoor pool we thought to use for exercise was for people over 5ft7ins tall ,we could'nt use that either, these things really should be addressed.Would not go again.

Excellent hotel! Excellent value for money! The hotel was very clean with good size rooms and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was superb with plenty of variety for all tastes. The hotel was ideally situated being just a short walk from the beach and the resort centre but just far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet if needed although Salou is fairly quiet during march anyway. Never having visited salou before, and doing so at a very short notice, we put every faith in the description of the hotel described on the alpha rooms home pages. On arriving at the hotel we found it to be more than adequate for our 3 night stay. The outdoor pool was not in service but we did not expect it to be in November, however we took advantage of the indoor pool facility and found it fine. The restaurant offered a better than avarage breakfast selection that was available to 10am and also served an evening meal should you require. The bar was spacious and relaxed. The room itself had everything we required, although could have had tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was comfy and the ensuite shower/toilet was clean. Only a 5min walk from the beach, we would certainly stay here again. In all, very good value for money
