Good Location and Price
01 April 2008
The hotel was in a good location for walking to most of the main attractions eg The Louvre, Notre Dame etc as it was about 20 minute walk to the river. Try to avoid the Rue St Denis near this hotel as it is a bit dodgy due to its sex shops and prostitutes - day and night!
Room was basic and clean, towels were changed every day.
Reception staff warmed up to you once they realised you have a booking.
Warning. Walls are paper thin so you can here everything from the other rooms around you. Its fine if you don't have anyone too noisy in the next room.
However that said will probably use again and have recommended it to my mum.

good location
25 March 2008
The hotel was very basic but made up for this with the location which is great if you like walking!. The room we had was clean and basic with your own bathroom. Basic breakfast which was good ( croissant and a roll, tea, coffee and juice). would stay here again for the price.

Good location
16 March 2008
The Caravelle is in a great location near the Gard du Nord which means you can get a RER train from the airport for only 8 Euros per person. Metro stations within 10 minutes walk means all of Paris is accessible. Rooms are very basic (wallpaper hanging off ours) but staff were friendly and price was fair. Basic French breakfast (bread & coffee) was enough and to be expected, but you could pay a lot more for the same in other hotels.

Quick Girly getaway
04 March 2008
This hotel is very basic and the bedrooms are dated. The bathroom, however looked a lot more modern and was spotlessly clean, also we got clean towels and sheets every day. The location is good and definately good value for money. On the downside the hotel receptionists do not give a warm welcome and are defintaely not helpful.

Valentines Break
21 February 2008
Couldn't find anything wrong with it, it was clean which is the main thing, very good value for money, perfectly adequate breakfast, reasonable location but as a first time parisian was totally lost to begin with anyway. An absolute bonus was your own bathroom which for the money i paid i would certainly not get in london.
Would definately stay again

honest review of the caravelle hotel
07 January 2008
if you are looking for somewhere to stay in central paris, on a budget then the caravelle must tick all the boxes, the staff were very friendly, the rooms were very basic, but as stated this is only a 2 star hotel, the breakfast is not relly worth bothering with just a croissant or a roll, fruit juice, coffee. + points very central and cheap, bad points quite noisy walls are paper thin. overall good value for your money.

Breakfast Bravery!
14 August 2007
If you’re looking for somewhere in Paris that offers great value for money, the Caravelle is perfect.
It’s within easy walking distance of the Gare du Nord (10 mins), Notre Dame (20 mins), The Louvre (15 mins); and with Metro stops a couple of minutes away, the location is great. If you don’t feel like venturing that far for something to eat or drink, there are loads of restaurants and bars in the surrounding streets.
The reception staff are very friendly and welcoming and all speak excellent English, and the rooms are functional and clean.
Breakfast was a hugely entertaining shambles most days, with no guarantee there’d be juice or coffee, and the croissants strictly guarded by the staff serving (who also seemed to be the cleaners!). You’d have to be brave to ask for seconds…
But that small niggle apart, it’s location makes the Caravelle a great place to stay. Remember you’re staying in a very central location in one of the great capital cities of the world, and as long as you remember this is a two-star hotel, then in terms of value for money, it would be hard to beat!

Caravelle Review
13 July 2007
I seemed to hunt the width and breadth of
the internet for a hotel so as a Paris
virgin my choice of the Carvelle was a good
one. As someone who chooses to walk wherever
possible it's brilliantly located to get
to the major attractions on foot but also
only five minutes from the Gare de Nord
which is a hub for the metro and buses
which makes getting to the entirety of
Paris really easy. The room was simple
but comfortable and as I was on the sixth
floor I had the most magnificent view
of the Sacre Coeur, no day can go badly
with a day started with that view! The
lift is the tiniest I've ever seen, not
for the claustrophobic but there are
stairs spiralling the entire building.
Breakfast was fine but nothing special with
juice and hot drinks with a croissant
a mini bagette available. All in all a
decent place to stay if you want a base
that is basic but a total bargain, though
if you're away in Paris why would you
spend time in you're hotel room?!

No Parking
02 July 2007
The add says that there is parking available for hotel guests but there is no provision for this. We parked outside the hotel the first night but the guy on reception said we may be towed away. We tried to find the car park (on foot) he suggested but to no avail. That night we saw a car park about 500 meters away that was 23 euros a night. With all the one way systems it took us an hour to find it the next morning in the car. If you plan on driving into Paris (a complete nightmare anyway) I would recommend a hotel on the outskirts with its own parking and close to the Metro. Hotel was reasonable for the price but the quite street outside was very noisy on the 2 nights we stayed there.

Great Value
19 March 2007
If you're looking for a conveniently located place to stay and you've got a tight budget, try and get a room at the Caravelle. It's 5 minutes from the Gare de Nord, and a 20 minute walk to Notredam and the Latin Quarter (and lots of other stuff). And if you plan you're walk to the city correctly you can spend most of it in the back streets staring at cheeses and meats in deli windows. The accomodation is clean and you get your own bathroom!

Le Caravelle is Swell!
08 March 2007
This hotel is just fine. It's two-star rating is exactly right, and while it's basic, it's perfectly servicable. The bed was comfy, and the facilities clean, and both were serviced every day.
The hotel doesnt' have any other facilities, like a restaurant or a bar, but there are plenty of options in this category really close by. The front door is manned all night as well, so late access isn't a problem.
It's really close to 'le metro', although the absolute closest stop, Chateau d'Eau, is closed at the moment (til May '07 I think...) Still, the current nearest metro is no more than 5mins walk (and that's an on-holiday-in-paris-oh-wait-I'll-just-look-at-this paced walk!).
It's in easy walking distance of the Louvre, Notre Dame, Pompideu Centre, Le Marais and a host of other attractions and there are many restaurants and cafes in the vicinity. We particularly liked the 'Cafe Chateau D'Eau' just at the end of the street for last drinks on the way home each night.
We stayed for a week with them, and booked it through this website. The price was good for us, and if you're not looking for luxury then this is fine - at the end of the day, when you're on holiday in Paris, how much time are you going to spend in your room anyway??!

Review of 'Caravelle'
30 January 2007
All major attractions within walking distance but located down a side street so very quiet. The room is basic and was large enough for two people to be comfortable. Bathroom was very clean. Breakfast was a bit boring. Croissant and a roll, a choice of jams and cheese spread and an orange juice or coffee. Great value for money and would certainly stay there again.
