Overnight stay for 30th birthday
17 July 2008
We were greeted at the steps of The Capital by friendly, courteous staff and this was the sign of things to come.
We experienced a delay in checking in due to a computer glitch, but we weren't in a hurry so a few minutes is no big deal.
The room was spacious, tastefully decorated and well equipped. Only slight downside was that the shower head was pretty poor and directed water everywhere but where you wanted it! Again, not a major disappointment, more just a niggle.
The hotel's location is superb: to say less than 2 minutes from Knightsbridge station and Harrods is absolutlely accurate.
We did not have our evening meal here instead opting for one of the many other fine dining experiences available within minutes'walk. (Gordon Ramsay's Petrus.) However, we did have breakfast, which was spot on, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for me, which I throughly enjoyed. My wife had english breakfast with poached eggs, which was equally good.
Decent range of drinks and cocktails available at the bar too...
All in all a good stay, and the rate we got through Alpharooms, though not necessarily cheap for a 4*, was good value, especially considering the location in the middle of Knightsbride.
Would consider staying again.
