Review of 'CAPISTRANO VILLAGES'

02 October 2006
Fortunately we had hired a car as the complex was quite some distance from the village and beach - which was not evident from the website when making the booking. The complex on a whole is very nice but, the unit we had is in serious need of maintenance and upgrading especially the bathroom, crockery and sleeper couch. The biggest downfall was the renovations that were started on the unit above us on the second day of our stay which forced us out of the unit to get away from the noise. Be warned and check which El Capistrano village complex you book!

Stayed in a maisonette in Capistrano villages during October half term. Apartment was clean and comfortable with everything you would need - privately owned and rented out. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Village was very well kept and although large didn't feel overcrowded. Good facilities on site - swimming pool, mini market, restuarants, bars etc. - all very good. Village was very quiet as off peak but everything still open - services were reducing in November. Car essential - steep hills, very long walk to town!
Nerja was very pretty and quite Spanish. Easy access to tousist attractions. Gibraltar 2 hours away. We flew to Granada (cheaper) - journey took less than 2 hours.
Would return and recommend - very good value for money.

Capristrano was very nice but ensure before you go that you know which area of capristrano you are staying in. It is very big and Alpharooms failed to tell us which part we were staying, resulting in a lot of hassle when we got there. My advice if you like the place and want to book, book it direct.

This was a really lovely place to stay, happy to recommend it. We had 3 clean, modern apartments close to a nice pool. The "village" is really prettily designed, well run and maintained. There is a bar, shop, pool side snack bars and restaurant on site. Expect about a 25 min walk into Nerja or to the Beach. There is also a large supermarket right next to the complex. Lots of the apartments are privately owned so it felt like the complex attracted a better class of visitor. Not loads for kids to do but the young ones travelling with us were more than happy to simply play in the pool.

The view from the accomodation was stunning. Climbing the 100+ steps to get to it was not too great though and any infirm or elderly person may have struggled. There are three districts to El Capistrano, we were situated in the San Juan area (the top of the hill). The pool facilities were excellent but be aware you need a pass to use it. maybe if you were to use these appartments, it would be best if you checked which location you were in. Check in was fine and the people very friendly. It says its 1.5km to the town centre, we felt that to get there transport was required (the taxi was 5 euro each way). In all a pleasant place if a little quiet.
