Out of the Way but not out of place

22 November 2011
Reception was efficient and helpful. We were self-catering, and they sent us off to the kitchen to but a litre of milk when we arrived. The room is modern and fresh feeling, obviously decorated and fitted out almost certainly within the last five years, and to a finish which is high by local standards. The view over the marshes towards Tavira was a little uninspiring when it rained. The complex is well-maintained. The pool is large and interesting free-form in shape. The complex is probably best for people who have hired a car. Cabanas is quite distinct from Tavira itself. The village looks as if has benefitted from quite a lot of EU money in terms of the infrastructure. The new promenade is is well designed and built. It's a very relaxing or very enervating place, depending on your frame of mind, and the nature of the weather at the time. Cabanas de Tavira is an old fishing harbour on a lagoon lying within a long sandbar island which stretches for about 10 km, and is almost deserted. The hotel provides a free shuttle boat across to the sandbar. Transport For independent travellers Cabanas is just a bit of a challenge. The train station is about 15-20 mins walk from the hotel. We caught a taxi from the train station, by flagging it down on the main road. When we asked reception to call us a taxi to take us to the station at the end of our sty, they said that it would not be possible because there are no taxis based in Cabanas, and that they would not come out from Tavira itself. There is a bus service, but it's not useful early or late in the day.
The best thing about my stay was…
The floods, which turned the river a reddy-brown.

Can't wait to go back

01 November 2011
Stayed here late September 2011 and loved it! Very quiet location so if you are after lively nightlife not for you. We opted for self catering and found it was better value for money to eat out than in the restaurant, deffinately try The Marina bar staff are very friendly. Also Quasimodo bar has happy hour 7-8pm BOGOF on some drinks :0) We stayed around the pool every day as the kids loved it and no fights for sunbeds. You can also take food and drinks to the pool area (cheaper than bar). If you are going out and about take a comfy pair of shoes as the roads/ paths aren't great. The hotel room was as you would expect and very clean we had maid service 5 times in the 1 week we were there. If you are cooking in the room there is only a 2 ring hob and the microwave has a grill. All in all a fantastic holiday and are already booking for next year.
The best thing about my stay was…
The quiet, relaxing area friendly locals.

very peaceful, long walk to shop.

17 July 2011
It is very quiet, has a lovely pool (Always plenty of sunbeds). Restaurant decent, next to no entertainment. The apartments are a good size and clean. Cabanas is a pretty fishing village with a lovely walkway. The food in all Restaurants was good. Make the effort to go to Tavira and a trip on the train is cheap.Make sure you find out the name of the station for the timetable as all trains do not go there.
The best thing about my stay was…
An interesting place to visit and very relaxing.

16 June 2011
Lovely hotel. Rooms very clean and well equipped. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Fabulous pool and views. Cabanas within easy walk. This was our second visit and we hope to go back again in the future.
The best thing about my stay was…
Situation of hotel is within a short walk of Cabanas Village with it's good choice of restaurants. Hotel itself is clean, peaceful and relaxing with very helpful staff.

Fantastico and Scorchio (Lovely and Hot)!

30 May 2011
I was blown away by this resort. On arrival the outside of the resort is well kept, and reception area looks beautiful which sets a good outlook on arrival. The receptionist was very pleasant and guided us through what there was to do, how to get to the beach and the pool, and the town, and told us how to get to our room. The room (no 202) exceeded all expectations. It was spacious, clean, bright and airy. The beds were large (two singles pushed together), and relatively comfy if a little hard. The kitchen facilities are basic, but enough if you are planning on eating out most nights. The pool area was lovely, as was the huge pool (and 5 mini pools for kids). Although don't be fooled into jumping straight in - it isn't heated, which is actually nice when you've been sweltering in the sun all day! It's a 15min walk to the nearest supermarket, but it's a pleasant walk through the small town of Cabanas. The little boat that takes you to the island beach is about 5min walk, plus another couple of mins across the island to reach the beautiful beach. The only thing that lets the resort down is the restaurant, which is expensive and the quality isn't fantastic, but to be honest as there are so many great little restaurants within a 5 - 10 walk all situated on the seafront you probably wouldn't stay in the resort much! We will be back, next time we might try the guided walks, or the canoeing.

Very good value off season. They accommodated our requests re rooms, the reception staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. The apartment was modern and clean with nice views. Can't comment on the restaurant as we self catered.

Great spot for a relaxing break

06 October 2010
We've stayed at this hotel twice and loved it both times, and recommended it to friends. It's in a quiet village with enough local restaurants and bars to keep you amused for a week or two, and Tavira is only a Euro 10 cab ride away or a 2.50 bus ride if you want something livelier. The apartments are clean, well kept and have everything you need, and the pool area is great. There are also free boat services that take you over to a beautiful sandy beach. Can't wait to go back!

stayed self catering for 2 weeks at the end of September 2010

03 October 2010
Our apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped. The pool area was always quiet with a choice of pools (1 large and 4 smaller) and plenty of sun loungers. 10 minute leisurely walk into Cabanans where there was a well stocked supermarket, a few touristy shops and plenty of excellent restuarants to choose from. We ate in the hotel restaurant one evening where the service wasn't great and the food didn't compare to what was available in the town but the snacks during the day were ok. Mosquito repellent is a must as next to the nature reserve and bites nearly inevitable. Good boat service over to private, clean beach and well worth a visit. Reception staff were always polite, helpful and friendly and maid service was good.
The best thing about my stay was…
Quiet, picturesque fishing village with an amazing choice of excellent restaurants, with local fish as a speciality. The perfect location to chill out.

Ideal for us pensioners

24 September 2010
This was our second holiday at The Cabanas Park Resort, ideal for a quiet break. Rooms are clean, comfortable and of a good size, pool area never gets too busy always beds available and no loud music. Girls on reception were always cheerful and helpful. The only minor problem is the location, a 15 min walk to the start of the town however now the work has finished along the front well worth it.

This is a very clean and well presented hotel,in a great location, but some people did moan about the 10 min walk to the village. The food was of a good standard but could offer it bit more choice. The staff where very helpful and always pleasant,The hotel gives you a free boat ride to the fantastic beach also free walking tours and canoes,I will be going back again for sure,my only moan would be the lack of evening entertainment.

Good standard of accommodation

19 July 2010
Good quality of accommodation, nice pool and quiet. Kitchen facilities good too. About a 10 min walk to Cabanas, where there a few but not many restaurants to eat. Mosi's can be bad at night in area though.

Quiet relaxing holiday

09 July 2010
We enjoyed our 6 day stay at the Cabanas Park and found staff polite and helpful on the few occasions we came into contact. Apartments are modern, clean but basic with a great pool area and only a 10 minute walk to the village. The village itself is very quiet with a few very nice restaurants. For a stay longer than a week, we would prefer a bit more going on, but for sunbathing, reading and relaxing on a short holiday, this was great.

Stayed late May to early June, lovely hotel, very clean and nice size apartments. Food in the restaurant very nice. Overall very quiet, even to quite for us. The main street by the sea front was full of road works, but the locals said that was coming to an end.

ideal for golf trip

12 May 2010
excellent clean , comfortable and spacious apartment. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely views from all sides. Decent breakfast. Overall a good property and excellent value for money as accomodation. BUT in a terrible position at edge of abandoned developments, so feels very dead and soulless. Also Cabanas village is a shanty town, nothing there so restaurants are 8 kilometres in Tavira.

To say Cabanas is a shanty towns and you have to go to Tavira for restaurants is totally untrue, look at the other reviews

Nice apartments, pity about the road in

11 March 2010
We stayed for a week. It's located in a very small fishing village about 30 mins from Faro airport. Village is undergoing major works at present and there is very little if anything to do and there are no restaurants. The road to the apartment complex was like arriving in Beirut, gave a very bad first impression. Resort itself was clean and spacious and staff were friendly. Had all the mod cons and the air conditioning also heated the apartments, when you figured out how to get it working. Works also ongoing at resort but pool and restaurant looked lovely. Gym onsite is very small and some equipment not working. Internet available but again only 1 computer working. Would recommend for older couples who are looking for absolute quietness. There is nothing to to do if the weather is bad, which it was when we were there the only saving grace was that we had a car and went to the shopping mall in Tavira.
