God value city break

01 April 2008
Excellent hotel with friendly staff. Great position near Docklands Light Railway and the Canary Wharf tube - although we enjoyed getting to central London using the Thames Clipper from nearby Canary Wharf. Only criticism is general decor and pool/changing area rather tired and rooms a little too warm.

Great Hotel, Brilliant Location

04 March 2008
We have stayed at the Brittania International every year in Feb/March for the past 4 years; to attend the Professional Beauty Show at Excel. The staff are always extremely friendly and helpful. Our 4 rooms were upgraded free of charge, to enable our group of friends to be situated next to each other. The super king beds were very comfy and my daughter and I slept soundly. Fantastic views from our room and breakfast was delicious. The bar snack we had in the afternoon was scrumptious too, lovely ciabatta filled with turkey and side salad. The hotel is Great Value for Money, in a perfect location for Excel. We will certainly be staying again for next years Beauty Show. Thank you very much

Happy New Year

02 January 2008
An excellent hotel which lead to us celebrating a very happy new year in London. Ideally located minutes walk from Canary Wharf Station and look no further for a hotel near the 02. We went to see Take That and it was literally (I timed it!) 2 minutes on the tube. You can also get the Thames Clipper back too which is worth a try! Hotel was very clean and extra spacious. We asked for an upgrade seeing as it was near my birthday and we got it - a beautiful room with super king bed and stunning views of the river. If you're booking through Alpharooms then rest assured you're getting a very good deal - I price checked with around 20 places and this was the best deal around - massive savings on the actual room rates. Enjoy!

Going to the O2

23 September 2007
This is an excellent hotel, staff very friendly and very efficient, rooms comfortable and well presented and breakfast could not be bettered. If you are going to the o2 Arena as we were for the Prince gig, you are two minutes away from Canary Wharf underground and one stop away from North Greenwich the tube station for the Arena. Don't mess around with lodges and inns, this is the place.

Don't pay too much and you won't be disappointed.

I stayed here for a night with a friend (wedding reception). The room did need a refurb but everything worked as it should and the staff were friendly enough. I got a good deal from alpharooms so didn't mind putting up with minor inconveniences. Don't pay more than £80 for this hotel or you will be disappointed.

The hotel was good value for money.  Triple room was good size with three single beds and was comfortable. Decor was a bit dated.  Restaurant was disappointing. Staff were friendly.

Easy to find, a warm welcome from reception, clean comfortable rooms, internet access (off reception), a bar with panoramic views and a hearty breakfast - a business traveller needs little else of a London hotel.

For the non-business traveller, the Britannia International is well placed to hop into town, to take a river trip or to take a short ferry ride to the south bank of the Thames.

My colleague and I spent one night at the Britannia International in the heart of London's docklands and were favourably impressed by the quality of the service we received.

The hotel staff were most polite and attentive and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.

Consequently we arrived refreshed for our business meeting the following morning.

We had a very good welcome at arrival and we had a very enjoyble stay in one of the premium rooms.  We were sorry to find out that the french restaurant was closed during the Christmas holidays, but we had a wonderful time especially since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
Thanks

Overall, the Britania hotel was a bit of a dissapointment,  given the hefty prcietag and four star status. Although the reception and bar/lounge areas were impressively furnished, many areas of the hotel were quite shabby in appearance, especially the changing rooms for the pool/gym, which were extremely unclean, with showers not working and no locker keys provided.

The swimming pool was extremely warm, which is not ideal for swimming.  By contrast, the temperature of the hot tub was less than room temperature.

Reception staff were unpersonal and, epsecially on the phone, uncaring.  We were initially given a twin room when we had booked for a double.  We were given a double bed eventually, although it was in fact two single beds pushed together, which persisted to come apart - this was very uncomfortable.

Breakfast was dissapointing.  The selection was wide, but viturally every dish was cold or in the case of bread, too hard.

The carvery dinner was very good, with a wide selection of hot food in addition to two large joints of meat.  This was definitely worth going back for.

Overall, this was a hotel that we would NOT come back to.

First impression very grand lobby and clean rooms. In the evening the whole downstairs smells of smoke you cannot get away from it, the staff are poorly trained, they have heated disagreements openly. Give the pizza outlet a miss, we had the worst meal we have ever had, breakfast just as poor. If you stay here go out to eat, south quay docklands light railway is a short walk and for 4.90 each you can use this and the underground all day.

The hotel definetly has the nicest staff ever. They make you feel very welcome and their attitude towards children is fantastic. The rooms are very comfortable though I think management could do with spending some money on up-grading the hotel. The only negative thing I could say is that the bar didnt have any nuts or crisps, neither did the bar have childrens drinks such as appletise or bottles of juice for these you had to go in to the pizzaria. The pizza and pasta carbonara was out of this world, i would largely recommend trying it....All in all a lovely place to stay, I will definitely be back .......

Arrived early morning 1 am, Room was reserved as Twin but we booked double. We were "up graded" by the receptionsit who was very helpful. Generally the staff were very good but no -one smiled much if at all. Initially nice Hotel from outside  but the more we looked about the Hotel the more it showed signs of neglect and dis-repair. Breakfast is good food but the organisation of the whole breakfast experience was a bit hit and miss. Nice location and impressive sites but needs a revamp of the facilities and organisation.

We stayed at this hotel recently and while the hotel its self was fine, we where disappointed at the sauna & pool area. It was no way near the same standard as the rest of the hotel - what a pity and while at the bar one evening - they ran out of all kinds of things, Gin, Tonic, Lime, snacks, etc.
While this hotel is in a nice setting, it is a bit away from the hussle and bussle of the city centre which is a £15 taxi ride away or the tube is only a five minutes walk.

Excellent location, only 5 mins walk from the tube. Hotel itself was nice, lovely reception area.  Room was spacious and clean.  Would stay there again although I would say it is more a 3 star hotel than 4 star.  Breakfast was very basic and to be honest I was a bit dissapointed with it, think husband would have been a bit less polite about the breakfast!

I booked this hotel for a mother's day trip to London for mum, daughters and niece. There were 5 of us altogether so we booked 2 rooms - one triple and one twin.  We chose the Britannia because of the tranquil Docklands setting which was ideal after a hectic day in London. We arrived late at night after a hectic day in London but we called the hotel to advise them we would be arriving late - they appreciated the call I am told!  When we arrived at the hotel we thought it could not possibly be ours it looked so expensive. We have stayed in 4 star hotels before but nothing as grand as this. A friendly receptionist greeted us into a beautiful reception area decked with rich thick pile red carpets, beautiful mahogany furniture and magnificent tapestries and statues. The bar area had scenic views onto the river. There is also a gym and indoor pool. After a warm reception we thought the bedrooms would not match the high standards of the entrance -how wrong we were.  Both rooms were fabulous with plenty of space to store clothing (hanging and drawers).  The rooms were individually decorated to very high standards complete with tea/coffee/trouser press/tv/armchairs etc. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries and the shower was definitely a power one! The triple bedroom had fantastic views onto the river and the millenium dome. The second bedroom did not have the scenic view but was just as beautfully decorated. We had all single beds which do see a little small but we all slept likel logs. We had booked continental buffet breakfast expecting just croissants and jam but had everything you could possibly want from full english to cereal - fruit - various breads etc. The breakfast area overlooks the river so you have a lovely view whilst enjoying the hearty breakfast. The surrounding area is very classy but quiet for London and Jubilee Park just a short walk from the hotel makes for a lovely morning stroll. We were absolutely thrilled with this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.  We would definitely visit again and mum kept telling us what a fantastic mother's day she had. The hotel was just the cherry on top of the cake.

This hotel was one of the few that had triple rooms. It's in a good location, there's lots of shopping & restaurants close by (& it's all underground, so the weather doesn't matter)& there was an ice rink for half term. It's on the Jubilee line which is good for the London Eye, Westminster, Madame Tussards etc. and is also easy for the Museums and Covent Garden.
The hotel itself is nice, the staff are friendly and the facilities are good. The children can only use the pool between 9 & 5 ,a bit of a pain when you're sightseeing! The breakfast is okay, nothing to rave about but perfectly adequete, we didn't eat in any other restaurant as we were out during the day and ate at the restaurants in Canary Wharf at night.
The rooms were very clean and we had everything we needed but there was no mini bar in our room (which is handy to keep a couple of bits in for the kids) and the decor is getting to the stage where it could do with a refurb but it was not an unpleasant room and the views over the water are good. All in all it was great. We had a reasonably priced hotel with breakfast, three single beds (two pushed together) lots to do on our doorstep, we were close to the tube (which was not too busy from Canary Wharf, you could always get seats)and the Jubilee is a good line for access to most tourist attractions.
We would stay here again.
