Fantastic!!
18 July 2008
Just arrived home from 9 days at the Brisa Sol hotel and my boyfriend and I have thoroughly enjoyed it! Ideal location. 10 minutes one way to old town and 10 minutes the other to the strip! We had a studio on the 3rd floor that overlooked the 'dual carriage way'. We had no problems with this, the noise was not a problem what so ever! With the air conditioning, we kept the balcony door shut and was not affected once by any noise others have said there was!
Pool area was nice, clean and tidy. Apparently, people would que on a morning to put their towels on sunbeds, but everytime we use the pool we always got a sun bed.
A large supermarket next door to the accomodation which was very convenient. Cannot comment on the food at the hotel as we were Self catering. However, food in the resort is reasonably priced.
Overall, a Superb hotel and a fantastic hotel! Would recommend!

Not 4*
26 April 2008
Don't panic, you will enjoy your holiday! The Brisa Sol is in a good location, the 'Noddy' train stops outside and is very handy, get an all day ticket and you can hop on and off whenever. The Old town is well within walking distance, 10 mins max, and is much nicer than the 'strip'. The breakfasts in the hotel were pretty dire, but you will find something to fill you up. We were on self catering and paid for breakfast 2 mornings, but it is'nt worth it and the staff are a bit narky if you ask for such luxuries as bread, milk, coffee etc, which ran out all the time. However, the hotel has a lovely pool, the indoor pool is good if the kids are desperate to swim as the outdoor one is still freezing. We went into the old town for our evening meal and ate at Buddy's Bar in the square, the food is good and the staff are very nice and child friendly. The supermarket next to the hotel is quite expensive, but there is a Lidl up the hill where everything is half the price! Try the tetra pak wine at o.59 euros, its not that bad! Quite gluggable, I've had worse £4 bottles at home. Just make sure your room is'nt over the bar as when Juan is playing his guitar he may as well be in your apartment! We enjoyed our hols, the weather was fantastic, the beaches are gorgeous and the hotel is squeaky clean, so enjoy!!!

A word of warning!
22 April 2008
My wife and I have just returned from a week long vacation at the Brisa Sol hotel, one that we were really looking forward to as it was our first holiday in three years. Having read lots of the reviews for this hotel I was not expecting the utter disappointment when we arrived. Reading other reviews I assumed that if you booked a room with a pool view (and pay extra) you would not be affected by the noise from the dual carriageway in front of the hotel. How wrong I was, the bedroom was overlooking the infamous dual carriageway! It was unbearable, between the constant traffic noise, some of them “modified cars” with the loud exhausts and one night an hour long argument by two people right under our window, neither of us got more than 4 to 5 hours sleep any night. It actually ruined the holiday for us. So be warned. I did ask if we could be moved to a room away from the front of the building but the guy at reception said that all the one - bedroom apartments were backing onto the motorway side of the hotel. I asked could we be moved to a higher floor but he said there were none available.
Having said all that, the hotel itself was spotless, the facilities in the room were basic but adequate. I would not however consider it a four star accommodation, more like a three star.
Another word of warning, this is a totally non – smoking hotel which is not made clear on their website, one cannot even smoke out on the balcony.
All in all the entire experience was disappointing.
I would never consider returning to this hotel and I certainly would not recommend this hotel to anyone else.

03 April 2008
Excellent hotel in a very good position. Staff at reception very helpful. Studio apartment facilities very good with all appliances you could need. Pool area very tidy and little pool man brilliant at providing extra umbrellas. Courtesy mini bus service runs twice a day to old town and beach and this was very useful. A lovely holiday - thank you to all the staff at the Brisa Sol.

Again...V Good!
02 April 2008
Having enjoyed the location 2 years ago, we were pleased to have the same high standards when returning for 1 week on 25 March. Two groups in studio rooms; like most we made the most of the super choice of restaurants the old town offers, but glad of the fridge, cooker etc for breakfast and occasional lunch snack. All in all another pleaseant week in a spotless, well appointed and located hotel.....you will not be disappointed!

great hotel, a couple if issues
31 March 2008
We stayed there a few days in a one bedroom apartment facing the water and pool. The apartment is fairly well equipped as mentioned in other reviews but not as well as some others we stayed in on this same vacation. We just got back and stayed there the week of March 25. The staff are excellent and speak English very well - first rate. It was nice to have towels and shower supplies as most hotels do not do this. The parking was of great benefit for us and was much appreciated. The location is excellent, right across from the "strip", beside Modelos, and still close to the old square. The hotel is looking a little tired compared to the hotel we stayed at in the first week and not as well equipped. On the other hand, the staff and parking as well as location earns this hotel a 4.5 star in our book.

Excellent Family Holiday
31 October 2007
Just returned from a a fab weeks stay at Brisa Sol. Great location in between old and new town - Tourist Train stop right outside hotel was ideal and a was enjoyed especially by our 2year old. Opted for the 1 bed apartment with pool view - which was a very good size, well equiped with fridge, microwave, 2 rings, toaster, kettle and plenty of crocks+utensils - they even provided tea towels! Apartment also had TV in bedroom as well as Lounge (with access to BBC, Sky News, CNN, Eurosport and CBeebies Channel) and also had safety deposit box (small charge payable at reception). Bathroom was good size with shower over the bath, hairdyer, toilet and bidet. We were on half board - restaurant was intimate. Breakfast was buffet style with good selection of continental and full english cooked items, juices, teas/coffee etc. Evening meal was waiter service with 3 course table d'hote available or a la carte at a supplement- All meals we had were good quality and staff were very friendly. attentive and good with the kids. Swimming pools were of a good size with plenty of sunbeds and comfy mats to put on them available. Unfortunately the indoor pool was being refurbished during our stay so we were unable to sample this - however from looking inside it looked very pleasant and clean. Location is ideal with large supermarket MODELA next door - this complex also housed a number of eateries such as Pizza Hut, as well as shops and a chemist. We took advantage of the tourist info booth within this complex to book a family day out to Zoomarine - definately worth a trip for all the family (we found the price here cheaper than through reception) Zoomarine has dolphins, seals, sealions, birds of prey, birds of paradise shows running throughout the day as well as an aquarium housing sharks, giant turtles and fishes. Other sidestalls including 4d Cinema, Fairground carousel, log flume, pirate ship were also included in the entrance fee. In addition there is an outdoor pool area - more than enough to fill a day with! On the whole the hotel offered a tremendous base, with easy access to all local areas and was good value for money. Would recommend to anyone and would consider returning in the future.

Just As Good if Not Better
27 August 2007
Stayed once more at the Brisa Sol from the 5th to 16th August. It was very much as I remember it, spotlessly clean, friendly staff & a super studio apartment. The apartments have been improved since last time with a microwave oven, toaster & an electric kettle as opposed to heating one on the hob. For photos see my review on Tripadvisor.
The air conditioning has also been improved with a stand alone unit on the huge balcony (silent) with full control. On our first night we left it at 17° & we woke up frozen. After that it was set at 21°c & it was perfect.
Very relaxing around the pool with plenty of sunbeds even though it was the height of the season.
Had 3 excellent meals at Tim Tim’s Chinese across the road, great value for money. Very friendly & always gave you a drink on the house at the end of the meal.
Bob Sinclair the DJ appeared in the NEW concert area in the Old town & there were thousands in attendance. The Old town has been undergoing a major upgrade & looks a lot better however it’s not quite finished yet.
The strip is as busy as ever but I did notice that a restaurant & a bar at the top of the strip had closed since our last visit as people tend to stick to the lower parts.
We ventured out most nights but there was entertainment to be had 6 nights of the week. 4 turns + 2 nights Karaoke. The Karaoke’s not my cup of tea but the turn weren’t too bad. The bar staff were excellent especially Vitor & the quiet (some say miserable) Luis is okay when you get to know him. There was also 2 nights where we had extra live turns in the form of dance troups performing traditional dances from their native countries & were very good.
Have not covered everything here as I’ve covered other points in my previous review written on the 31st Aug 2005.
All in all we had a great time & will return at some point & I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Really had the blues when I returned home from this holiday as it was so good.
I must just state though it’s not a children’s hotel in the sense other reports might lead you to think in terms of rep & clubs & stuff.

Brilliant Brisa
20 August 2007
I am writing this on my first day back at work after 10 nights staying at the Brisa Sol in Albufeira. The grey skies in Yorkshire as I write, prompted me to send this review and remind myself of the enjoyable holiday of the last fortnight.
The Brisa sol is brilliant! We are a family of four and it is without doubt the largest apartment we have ever stayed in. The pool and ocean view was magnificent and the standard of fixtures, fittings and cleanlines was first rate.
The staff were always helpful and friendly, even to us Brits who, on the whole, cannot say "Obrigado" never mind switch off the downright rudeness displayed by our nation abroad.
There was always a sunbed available although the "idiots" who ran to get the "best spots" as soon as the door to the pool was open at 9am want banning from foreign holidays for ever.
The Hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the Old town and the Strip but taxis were readily available.
We were self catering and whilst the cooker never saw a pan whilst we were there the supermarket next door was better stocked than your local TESCO.
A good holiday, value for money and bright sunshine every day, what more can you ask for.

Very relaxing, no fuss hotel
30 July 2007
Just came back from 4 nights at Brisa Sol. Won't go over what many have said before. A few other points. It is a very family orientated hotel, and surprisingly this is actually very enjoyable even for 'younger people'. The pool is non stop action all day but in a non obtrusive way. Stayed in a studio with views of the road (due to late booking), and to be honest this was fine - having a balcony regardless of the view makes a huge difference to perception of space. We also went the self catering option, which worked really well as we had a fridge, microwave and toaster for everything. Just remember detergent! Front desk extremely helpful (with one exception) with all requests. The massage service provided by the hotel was terrible. Despite the signs not being able to reserve a pool chair, make sure you do as soon as you wake up as its what everybody else does anyway. Will go back definitely, great holiday.

Good hotel
14 July 2007
Excellent location hotel rooms very good size for a family Breakfast needs improving more choice would be nice
An outside bar for the evening is another thing missing to relax before dinner rather than being inside Maybe we wer unlucky but the guests in apartments round the pool were taking the sunbeds and the umbrellas on to there balcony and not using them until late in the day Other guests coming to the pool could not get beds and even more could not get umbrellas this was the only bad fault of the hotel staff

A Good Week Had By All
16 May 2007
Just arrived back after a week at the Hotel, we stayed bed and breakfast, in a studio appartment. Couldnt fault the place, everything was organised, the rooms were very clean and the maids did a great job, although we only dined at breakfast time, I now wish we had tried the restaraunt at night as I heard some very good reports on it. I think the Hotel is in a good position between the New part (strip) and the old town, transport to either was readilly available by either the Tourist train (reccomend) or Taxi. If travelling back to the Algarve would have no hesitation at booking in at the Brisa Sol.

Brisa Sol
08 May 2007
We stayed in this hotel the last week in April 2007. This was our second stay at this hotel. Like most of the reviews on here, you'll find the hotel excellant, clean and the staff very friendly. Last Time we stayed here we had a studio and found it a little small, though everything worked well. This time we had a one bedroomed apartment which was suberb. Our stay was on half board (the first time we have had half board in Albuferia). The Hotel said they had only commenced doing half board 6 months ago and the were still feeling their way so to speak. That said, the food was excellant, 2 main choices for the evening meal. Breakfasts were the same every day though plenty to eat. The English element of the breakfast was always bacon, sausage, scambled egg and baked beans....But don't let that put you off. The food is of a very good quality. Others have said re the location of the hotel. I might add that if your on self catering and feeling brave the Fire Station across the road welcomes English, though they don't advertise the fact. You go in the front door and up the stairs. Meals are excellant and dirt cheap... You'll enjoy the hotel. It really is a good 4 star.

I've stayed in the Brisa about a dozen or so times. Location is excellent. Accommodation great. Restaurant very good. Staff all very helpful. hotel lovely - very clean and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Had a view of the pool from our balcony which was lovely. The only issue we had was that the outside pool looked so inviting but even your big toe curled at the freezing temperature of the water. It would have been lovely to have been able to use the outside pool and we felt it should have been heated out of season. What a waste of a beautiful pool!!!! on a good note however - there was an indoor heated pool but it was more for the families with babies and young children. It must have been a popular hotel as there were a lot of older people who stayed for the whole winter.

Review of 'BRISA SOL'
18 February 2007
There's no doubting that the Brisa Sol is a lovely hotel, with all the makings of a perfect hotel for the young & old, couples & families alike. My girlfriend and I spent a week here mid Feb and despite the on/off weather, enjoyed it very much. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the countless bars & restaurants of the 'old town' and about a 20 minute walk from 'the strip' or 'new town' with yet more bars, restaurants and shops. The one let down down was the lack of activity, there wasn't anything offered by the hotel, but in truth i think this was more down the the time of year and amount of guests in the hotel rather than anything else. A bit of entertainment in the evening or music etc wouldn't have gone a miss if you know what i mean though.
All in all the Brisa Sol is a very good hotel, worthy of it's rating. Rooms are spacious & well equipt, indoor & outdoor pools are nice and of a good size, sauna, jacuzzi & turkish bath are lovely, sun-bathing area clean and plentiful, restaurant high standard etc etc.
I just wish we had gone later in the year when the weather would have been a bit better and there would have been more going on.

Review of 'BRISA SOL'
09 January 2007
We took a nine day break to the Algarve from 30th December. The Weather was average 19C and clear and sunny every day enabling us to sunbathe on the beach. There was an outdoor concert in the bay of Albuferia on New Years Eve attended by a huge crowd of mixed ages (Boss AC and Melanie C were performing). The fireworks at midnight were amazing and lit up the whole bay for at least 15 minutes and there was a sea of champagne that went up from the crowds with a great atmosphere. After New Years eve the evenings in the town were very quiet as it does get cold at night. The Brisa Sol hotel is very comfortable, clean, good facilities, comfy beds, and the staff very friendly. We stayed in a one bedroomed apt, there was a fridge, microwave, cooking rings, kettle, toaster, and untensils etc but we didn't need them as we booked half board. The dining room was quiet, no queing for food, and the main meal choice although limited to one fish, one meat and one vegetarian was good quality. Al a carte was also available. Cooked breakfasts, and continental on offer, good coffee machine. There was no gala meal on New Years Eve but there had been one at Xmas we were told. Drinks in the bar were reasonably priced, large TV screen but no Sky.The entertainment was limited to the bar (usually a singer) but this bar was very quiet and we felt lacked any Buzz. We would imagine the hotel is livelier in Summer, however there were plenty of guests there. Short walk to Albufeira town, or the Strip, and 15 min walk to the beach. Large supermaket next door to the hotel and bus stops and taxi right outside. We had a very good deal through Alpharooms and we had never used them before, but we will definitely book with them again, we had no problems at all with the booking and a superb holiday.

The one-bedroomed apartment with sea view was excellent. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, with the exception of one barman in the hotel bar who was not only a miserable fellow, but thought the two large Plasma TVs blasting out pop videos at 6.30pm were for his personal benefit, whether his customers wanted to watch and listen or not!
The food was average at best, but the hotel is near plenty of good reasonably priced restaurants.

An absolutely fantastic holiday, the hotel was great, and really never expected the rooms to be as large as they were! Will know for next time to book a room with a pool view, although in summer our balcony would be great for getting tanned. also the pattissarie next door was mouth watering, we sampled it every day so its a good job we could go for long walks! Review of 'BRISA SOL' Albufeira
30 October 2006
We stayed at the Brisa Sol in a studio with pool view for 2 nights, mid October. We got a train to Albufeira and then the local bus which dropped us off a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Our first impression of the Brisa Sol was that it was a bit old and dated. Looking back I think we were being a bit unfair because we were comparing it to our last hotel in Tavira, where the standard of accomodation was much higher, even though the rates were the same.
We ate out on the first night in the Tres Palmeres restaurant(good food, reasonable price, 5mins by taxi) and ate in the second night having stocked up at Modelo supermarket next to the hotel.
Although it was a bit old, everything was spotless and the studio had all you needed in the small but adequate kitchen. The rings on the cooker were very slow to heat though making cooking a little difficult!
Albufeira wasnt for us - a bit commercial and tacky. Might be good for a group holiday, in which case I would recommend the Brisa Sol. Its location really is very good - in between the old and new town and the shopping centre nearby is a big plus. The staff were friendly and the pool was nice.
One thing I didn't like though was when we were checking in, the guy asked us for our passports and wouldnt give them back. He said it was "the rule", that he needed to do something with them on the computer and he would give them back later. I wasnt impressed as we all know how important your passport is! I know when you check in to any hotel they normally check your passport and write down the number but I had never before heard of them actually keeping the passport.
After taking my bags to my room and settling in, I went back to reception to get my passport back and it was returned no problem. It was kept in a little slot on the wall where each room had their own slot and where that rooms guests passports were kept. I just found this practice very odd and unsafe. Maybe Im just paranoid;)

16 October 2006
The hotel was lovely, about 15 minutes walk from the main bars & restaurants and the same distance to the beach. The hotel was clean and friendly, and the room was very large. We booked a studion with pool view, but when we arrived we were told that these were all full up and we were put in an apartment with pool view, which we were extremely happy about. I would advise anyone to book a room with a pool view, as the rooms at the back of the hotel were quite shaded and had no views at all. The pool is quite large, and there were plenty of sunbeds for everyone. The hotel bar had singers on each night, which I think was nice for older people, but not very good for younger people. There were plenty of bars on the strip, but these were mainly Kareoke bars which I don't particularly like, but the fabulous weather and fantistic hotel more than made up for this. I am extremely happy that I booked everything through Alpha rooms, and will definately book through them again. FANTASTIC HOLIDAY

Review of 'BRISA SOL'
01 October 2006
We stayed at the Brisa Sol from the 14-29 sept 2006 and found it to be everything it claimed. The staff are very pleasant and make you feel welcome. The rooms are kept to a high standard of cleanliness and cleaned every day. The pool area is quiet and relaxing with the occasional baby crying being the only disturbance. Food at the hotel is of a high standard and I can recommend it. The bar is well serviced and prices are lower than some of the bars outside. Entertainment is provided nearly every night and is of a good standard. The location of the hotel with the road train station on one side and a shopping mall and taxi rank on the other makes shopping, going to the beach, old town or strip very simple. A perfect hotel for a peaceful and relaxing holiday

Review of 'BRISA SOL'

we spent our honeymoon here and it was brilliant.staff were very friendly and rooms were cleaned daily.pool and sunbeds were cleaned daily too.only fault was the entertainment in bar, could have done more to get guests involved rather than just listening to singing all night.although they did have karaoke once a week.hotel is situated half way between the old town and the strip so had a varied night out for eating and entertainment.old town was better for eating out and cheaper.try the "oh tunnel" restaurant, food and staff were spot on.there are lots to choose from and best cocktails to have are in "piccadilly bar" or "las vegas bar".plenty of water sports too but you have to go to oura beach which is only ten mins away.paragliding, jetskis, banana boat etc.great day out.40 euros for 2 people on a jetski for about half an hour which was well worth it.differnt entertainment in old town square with bands, mimeist, indian pipe music players, allsorts to watch which was great.the strip was nice too but very busy on a night with plenty of shops to go to and bars and restaurants but a little dearer than old town.something for everyone is there in postugal and we would definately go back again.overall a great varied holiday for everyone.especially the dolphin show at zoomarine.a great day out there too.early nights or late nights, theres something for both.great holiday great weather, great beaches, lots to do,what more could you want.great all round.

Review of 'BRISA SOL'
07 August 2006
The Hotel is ideally situated between the strip and the old town, about 15 mins walk in either direction. Alternatively use the land train which stops outside the hotel. Take advantage of the hotel's restaurant. The breakfast is good value at 6.5 euros and the evening meals are very good quality and value for money at 13.5 euros. The pool is excellent and my two sons (16 and 13) were often in the games room; playing pool when it was too hot or at night. My eldest son particularly liked Portugal as the drinking age limit is 16. The staff were excellent, good hotel bar and maid service every day! I would defintely consider returning to resort and this hotel.

Review of 'BRISA SOL'

Travelled 25.07.06 for 7 nights wished I could have stayed longer. Apartments are very spacious and very clean. We had an apartment with a pool view and the supplement was worth paying. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. There were plenty of sunbeds by the pool and the food was good at the pool snackbar. The children really enjoyed the indoor pool and the airconditioned games room. The old town was about a 15 minute walk away with great restaurants and shops. The Strip was a little further but not as nice as the old town but worth visiting. I would definately go back to this hotel.

Happy days at 'BRISA SOL'
04 August 2006
What can I say this is the second year on the run that we have stayed at the Brisa Sol. This year was a little different as we took my 16 year olds two mates (16 and 17 years old) and my in-laws. We all had a great time, the weather was exceptionally hot 4-45 degrees some days, but with the air conditioning in the apartment this is not a problem. As last year the staff (some the same) were top rate, rooms cleaned EVERY DAY - (clean towels and bedding!!)and all very pleasant. The Square (old town) was being refurbished a bit - I expect it will look nice when its finished. The strip is just as busy - Blackpool with sunshine. Overall a great holiday was had by all. Definitely worth a trip.

Review of 'BRISA SOL'
31 July 2006
Recently returned from 2 week stay at Brisa Sol. 1 Bed apartments are very large and spacious, but we felt could do with some upgrading. Kitchen area has microwave and 2 hob rings (no grill or oven). Air conditioning is excellent (quietest we have ever come across) and can be set individually for bedroom and living room.
Complex is well maintained, in particular the pool area and sunbeds are exceptionally clean. Entertainment was available in bar most nights in July but was pretty |
