3rd visit to prague
22 May 2008
Stayed here for three nights in may, my second visit to the botel, organised a 50th birthday trip for my friend, chose botel again because of location it is perfect for all tourist atractions easy walking distance for them all, not 3 star very basic but clean, found this time everything so expensive because of the exchange rates for example we went on the little cable car that takes you to the top of petrin hill and it cost 20 kronas and it was 40 krona to one pound on our second visit now it is 26 krona and only 26 krona to the pound so a big jump ,everyone very nice on the boat food not bad. beer average price but spirits and mixers very expensive 210 krona for a bicardi and coke nearly 8 pounds , fell off seat when we got bill only way to judge if it is a reasonable place is to go by the price of the beer 30 to 40 krona for a pint and the food should be not a bad price either, dont be fooled by tourist menu just as cheap to choose your own, very easy to get to and from airport on shuttle bus who"s kiosk is opposite departure door make sure you get the right one another firm further down will want to charge you 800 krona per person compared to 80 on the local shuttle bus, we pushed the boat out (forgive me) and booked a taxi which cost 44 pounds between 4 so not to bad , an excellent service our thanks to mike from LA and all his tips. prague is a fantastic place for a long weekend would recommend it, and also recommend alpharooms for there very good service will be using them again

Cheap, close to the center and...nothing else!
06 May 2008
We went to prague laste week after have booked a double room, river view for 5 days. The price and the location were good but the room reserved, number 148, was very tiny and not so clear. Staff were terribleand not so kind except Peter at the reception. But Prague is marvellous and, probably, is not so important were you sleep.....price is very cheap in front of another hotels.

2nd visit to prague
23 March 2008
After visiting Prague last year staying in a city centre hotel, we returned this year to stay on Botel Albatross. Loved the location. Everywhere within walking distance. Restaurant bar + reception lovely. cabins in the process of being refurbed. small but adequate. most staff not very friendly. a couple actually smiled when we said hello. breakfast adequate but tea + coffee always luke warm. would return for another visit as good value for money. For what we paid we didnt expect 5* treatment.

Convenient Location - With A Bigger Budget Choose Somewhere Else
09 January 2008
I booked this trip as a Christmas suprise for my boyfriend and he was impressed as it certainly is different. On arrival the boat looks attractive, the reception area is bright and clean as are the restaurant and bar areas. However the room was tiny, with dark wood and needed a good clean. I asked for a river view, which I got, but was disappointed as it was hard to see out of the windows due to the outside dirt and condensation from inside. The room was made up daily, however the bedding on the single beds which had been pushed together was dated and felt unclean. Breakfast was fine, bread, cheese and cereal, however no fresh juice. One member of staff on reception was extremely nice and made me feel better about our stay, however the rest of the staff didnt speak if they could avoid it, at the bar they turned up the television when we went for a drink and even when checking out nothing was said to us. My boyfriend enjoyed it and it is very conviniently located, walking distance from everything. However this is certainly not a 3 star hotel by ordinary standards and if I had the money I would have moved to a nicer room. If you literally want to rest your head at night then this place is fine, but I was very disappointed as I wanted it to be a special suprise.

Want something different
19 November 2007
What can I say! If you're looking for something a little bit different than your average hotel then the Albatross is ideal. I booked it as a surprise birthday getaway and it certainly made an impression. In fact it was described by my partner as 'cool'. The room was very small and even though I asked for a double we got 2 single beds pushed together. Having said that the beds were really comfy and the room nice and quiet. We never made breakfast so can't really comment although the breakfast room looked really nice. The bar was ok although very smoky. I would imagine in summer its far better. Location wise you couldn't ask for a better place. It took us literally 5-10 mins to get to the town centre. If you're looking for a low cost place to stay that is a bit different then go for the Albatross. I wouldn't necessarily say it was a romantic place but then I always think its what you make it!

Ahoy me hearties
19 October 2007
When I entered the room for the first time, I thought "So this is what communism was like". The cabin was basic with the double bed being two twins pushed together. It was not dirty but looked a bit threadbare. The radiator could not be turned off so we had to leave the window open all night. The bathroom was OK if you are of slight build. There was nowhere to hang wet towels and cupboard space was tiny. The staff were happy to move us into a twin, which seemed a bit bigger, and the radiator could be turned off. Breakfast was nothing to write home about but it filled a hole.
The hotel is in a good position on the river and is about ten minutes walk from Old Town Square.
The receptionists are a fount of knowledge on places to eat and public transport and are willing to help.
The Albatross would not be bad budget accommadation but we found that you could get an apartment in Prague for not much more money.

happy
20 September 2007
every time I searched for a hotel in prague i was pulled to the botel albatros i have just returned and it more than lived up to my expectations. The atmosphere was very cosmopolitan and relaxing. good service and the beer was good. The breakfast was minimum but pleasant and as much coffee/tea/juice/water, mixed breads, meats and cereal as you wanted. The location was great you had the beauty of crossing the road and making for the centre, following the river to the Charles bridge or walking to the other side of the river where we found a fab cheq bar/restaurant and the food was fab, again laid back. I can' wait to go back to prague and would certainly book through alpha rooms again and stay at the botel albatros.

Terrific accom
07 August 2007
I am a solo traveller who was visiting Prague for the first time and found the staff really helpful, considering that I knew no Czeck at all. The accomodation is cabin style , of course, and very clean - had a really good shower too.
The front desk can book trips for you - they got me on the jazz boat and that's well worth doing if you like good food and live music as you cruise up the river. The food in the hotel is good and not expensive, so I often ate there in the evening. Overall I had a great time and felt well looked after by the friendly and helpful 'crew'.

'Hello hello!'
16 July 2007
There were two Botels in Prague, and although Albatros was a little more expensive, we chose it because of its location. We definitely made the right choice.
The Botel is an unusual place to stay in any city. The Botel is attractively decorated, especially the dining-room. The bedrooms are smaller than in a normal hotel because they are converted cabins, but there is so much to see in Prague that we were hardly there. The en suite shower worked well and we had a laugh watching UK shows like Taggart dubbed into Czech on the TV (as others have pointed out, CNN is the only English-language channel, but that's normal in this part of Europe and who goes on holiday to watch TV anyway?) The riverside view is beautiful and so many sights are within easy reach. Definitely request a riverside view.
Breakfast is a simple but ample selection of meats, cereals and sweet and savoury breads. Other reviewers have criticised the coffee, but we felt it was adequate - nothing fancy, but drinkable.
Being frequent travellers to this part of Europe, we are aware that the staff may appear surly to newcomers. However, this is because the Czech people have thankfully not yet adopted the American model of false sincerity. We found that if we had any questions or needed anything they were very helpful.
A few words to the wise - it would be worthwhile for visitors to show willing by learning a few phrases in Czech before they visit Prague - "hello", "thank-you" and "goodbye" aren't much, but they make a difference. In summer, Prague does have a lot of mosquitoes, so don't leave your window open at night or when you go out for the day, wherever your hotel is. Close your window at night and you should have no problems. Also, if you do get a river view, be aware that tourist boats pass close by! Use your net curtain wisely...

Great Hotel in a Beautiful City
06 July 2007
A pleasant change from the normal hotel room. River view is very relaxing. Sights can be viewed when sitting on the terrace having a relaxing drink. Terrace is very pleasant with good service. Breakfast is sufficient being continental. Cabins are clean, comfortable and adequate for your needs. Daily maid service of high standard. Staff are helpful with very good local knowledge. Close to transport links to get around Prague. Get a travel pass which is inexpensive. At the moment there is construction work on the bridge near to the boat but when this is complete travel stops will be 2 minutes walk away. There is no excessive noise from the construction site and with how hard they work I would think this will be finished very quickly. We will definitely be going back to Prague and will stay at the Botel again. If you are going, have a great time.

Review of denisa prague
23 November 2006
The hotel was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was more than ample just ordering scrambled or fried eggs when you got up. Staff friendly and polite. I would go and stay there again and I would advise on getting a three day pass which costs 120 krona and you can use the tube trams and buses unlimited for the three days. It cost us fifty pence on the bus from the airport to the hotel which was a five minute walk. If you walk straight ahead when you get off the bus and head to Kentucky fried chicken it is only round the corner from there.

Review of 'BOTEL ALBATROS'
21 November 2006
This botel was very clean and the cabins although dated were spotlessley clean. The bed was the comfiest I have stayed in on a trip abroad. The breakfast was continental style and limited but fresh. The coffee and tea were not the best in the world.
Staff were OK but didn't appear to enjoy their job, however, they were polite and helpful.
I had a river side cabin which was lovely and provided lovely morning views and ducks to feed.
Would I stay here again? Yes for the money paid it was very good value.

Just got back from a 3 night stay at the Botel Albratross with my boyfriend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Botel was clean and staff were friendly.Breakfast was basic, cold meats and cheeses but more than adequate. Our room was small (as they are cabins rather than rooms) but very cosy with super comfy beds!Location is nice and quiet and only a 10min walk to all the attractions.I would recommend this Botel to anyone who wants to visit Prague and save a little on the accomodation.

Review of 'BOTEL ALBATROS'
22 September 2006
My husband and I have just returned from a stay on the Botel. The Botel is situated a good 20 minute walk from the Old Town Square. We had a shared minibus from the airport which cost 450 krona, and we returned in a taxi, which cost 650 krona. On arrival the reception area looks quite impressive with its leather sofas, and the receptionist appeared quite stern!! The room is the size of a cabin on a ship and is quite old fashioned, lots of wood and terribly dated furniture. However the bed was very comfortable, and the sheets were clean, and the towels changed every day.The bathroom was in need of complete redecoration and this let the hotel down. The hot water was plentiful, shower powerful, and a shower curtain that loved you!! The breakfast was "continental", and this consisted of cereal, bread, cheese, meats, jams and yougurt. There was a juice that tasted like dilute pop, and you would be advised to steer clear of the tea and coffee, which were undescribable!! Recommend you ask for a river view, as it is a delight to wake up to in the morning. Overall a pleasant stay and value for money.

Review of 'BOTEL ALBATROSS'
14 August 2006
The Botel Albatros is good value for money, and I would certainly stay here again. The interior is designed to resemble the interior of a boat, which was pleasant and not too tacky. Many of the rooms have a river view, providing a quiet, unique and enjoyable environment (we had a family of ducks regularly swim by our window).
The room was cleaned daily, and had an en suite shower-room. I shared a twin room, and the room itself was a good size for the price range of the accommodation, with plenty of storage. The en suite shower-room was fairly small, but fine for a short break.
The Albatros is within walking distance of the city centre (approximately 10 minutes), and so is fairly well situated.
Breakfast was self-serve continental style, with a limited choice of breads, meats, cheeses and cereals.
All in all I really enjoyed my stay on the Botel Albatros and would be happy to stay here again.

09 May 2006
My partner and I had a double room away from noise with a river view. Small, well heated cabins with plenty of space for clothes. Hot water for showering but water went everywhere as only a curtain and a hole in the ground. Breakfast very basic continental with watery orange squash, coffee was fine. Croissants would be a good addition!! Friendly, helpful staff. Very German dominated guests. Evening bar meal was excellent; double the price of cafes in Prague town but worth it. The prune sauce accompanying the pork fillet was delicious! Would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

08 May 2006
The Botel was cosy and well equipped. We did not get a room with a view of the river so were facing a busy road. The TV did not have many english channels and the tea at breakfast was like cardboard and the coffee was lukewarm. It was a 20 min walk to both the new and old town so not a bad location. Staff were not the happiest of people but overall would recommend this accommodation.

Review of 'BOTEL ALBATROSS'
05 March 2006
In general we found the Botel Albatross to be reasonably comfortable, clean and warm (important, given the time of year and the outside temp). We felt however, that it would benefit from a programme of refurbishment as the accomodation was a bit tired and shoddy (showers in particular). Staff were very friendly and helpful (especially bar staff) but breakfasts very disappointing (tea and coffee awful). In spite of the above, we would probably stay there again but only if better accomodation was unavailable.

Review of 'BOTEL ALBATROSS'
05 March 2006
When we arrived at the hotel we were promtly informed that the hotel was suffering water damage from a burst pipe and that we were to stay at another boat hotel further away from the main town, not a good start. On returning the next day we were informed that two doubles out of the three rooms that we had reserved were unavailable and we were told we would have to have twins instead, however, after some very loud shouting on my part suddenly two doubles became available. After these initial problems we could start our holiday, the hotel is in a good location you can walk to everything from it, the rooms were simple but fine (although there was asbestos visible behind the radiator which was a tad concerning), the bathroom is small, a shower curtain, a hole and a drain are the extent of the shower so not really a suitable choice for older guests, however these irritations put aside, the rooms were cosy, the shower was hot, the breakfast was ample, the decor is pretty and the bar staff are very friendly and welcoming, so all in all for a cheap and cheerful, not bad!

We have just spent an enjoyable weekend at the Botel Albatross. We picked this hotel as it's a bit unusual!! We were really surprised at the standard of accomodation (especially for the price)it was really clean and the rooms were piping hot, just what you needed after spending a day in the cold!!The hotel is well located for the main centre just a 3 minute walk away. The breakfast was a bit boring (no bacon & eggs) but was adequate and again for the price you really can't complain. All in all a great little hotel that i would recommend to anyone.

03 February 2006
The boat look very impressive from the outside. Inside, the reception area is clean, warm (even when it's minus 11 outside as it was when we were there!) and inviting. The rooms are clean, but very basic and small (as you would expect a cabin to be really). The whole place could do with a bit of refurbishment, but it is nice and clean. The breakfast room is clean & spacious, however the foor is very basic - bread, cheese, meat & very strong coffee & very weak tea! Bar prices are reasonable and you are very reasonably placed to get to the main square in the old town. It is an ideal place to stay if you are just looking for somewhere to sleep, shower and change before a days sight seeing.

You get what you pay for, the accomadation was VERY basic but the rooms were warm ( in fact too warm at times) the water was hot for a shower and the bar area was alright. Breakfast was limited selection, all cold. On saying that we hardly spent any time there as there is so much to do in Prague and it served its purpose. It is a great location very central. walking distance from all attractions.

Very small bathroom but perfectly layed out. 2 single beds, not ideal for a romantic stay but clean and comfortable. Nice and warm in the middle of December but the heating does make the odd noise. Take extra bread at breakfast and if your room is on the water side of the Botel feed the ducks and swans. 3 nights 2 people 1 room less than £100 total excellent value.I'm already saving to go again

A great choice - rooms bigger than we expected, and less noisy than we feared. The terrace bar-restaurant is great, a chance for a beer with a view down the Vlatava to the Castle and Cathedral, and tasty food at reasonable prices. Breakfast would be better if the coffee (muddy grey) and the tea (pale muddy grey) had taste to match the names ! 25 minutes walk down the river to Charles Bridge, and 10 to the Old Town Square.
