79 LAURISTON PLACE , EDINBURGH, EH3 9HZ
Establishment The Best Western Edinburgh City Hotel is well located, just a few minutes from the vibrant city centre and close to the principal financial and business district. Kings Theatre is just a five-minute walk away, as is Edinburgh Castle and the world class art galleries. Many great pubs, boutique shops and restaurants are all within walking distance, making this hotel an ideal base from which to explore the magical city of Edinburgh. Built in 1879, this now privately owned hotel was once a Memorial Hospital but has since been restored, offering modern facilities with traditional charm. Dining options include the spacious restaurant, serving a delicious range of International cuisine, complemented by a relaxed atmosphere and fine wines. Guest rooms within the Edinburgh City Hotel are contemporary in design but have comfort in mind, as well as being equipped with all the amenities one could expect from a hotel of its class, including en-suite bathroom.

What our customers say

Considering the price we paid I thought this hotel provided better service than some 4 star hotels I have stayed in. I'm not sure what some other reviewers were expecting to find but the welcome, service, space and food were all excellent. Location wise you couldn't ask for better as you can be at the Grassmarket, Princes Street, The Royal Mile or Waverley in 10 or 15 minutes walking time. The rooms are large, the breakfast is perfectly adequate, hot and freshly cooked with plenty of choice from the continental table. And if you are able to get a rate with breakfast included you've no need to worry that it costs nearly £10 per person! We were in a side room not far from the road, and we could hear the traffic during the day, but this lessens significantly at night and did not keep us awake, despite being light sleepers. I would certainly stay here again and highly recommend it as a reliable, budget hotel. I would alsoi like to comment briefly on the people of Edinburgh. From the cleaners, to taxi drivers to locals out and about, perhaps the friendliest and happiest people I have met in a long time. Love the city!
