Well Located

16 March 2010
Stayed for a week with 2 friends in early March. Very friendly staff & very helpful. Rooms cleaned and fresh towels every day. We tried the buffet first day in the evening as it was too wet to go out This was very good value @ €11. Entertainment every night in the Disco bar was a bit tacky and was not our cup of tea. However would suit familly with young children. Would def recommend this hotel & stay again. Try Cristals restaurant around the corner from Cocos bar nearby hotel & Angus Steakhouse in Marina.

Great Hotel

07 March 2010
Stayed in the hotel for 7 nights, thought it was great. Stayed in every night for meals as we thought the food was excellent and great entertainment in the disco pub. Even though the weather wasn't great while we were there there was still plenty to do in the hotel. Very friendly staff and clean hotel, would definatley go back.

Very good value for money

07 March 2010
We had a week in late February/early March 2010 in a one bedroomed apartment. The apartment was comfortable and well-furnished and everything worked! The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities (outdoor and indoor pools, gymnasium, sauna, etc) were excellent - although I think 7-00 pm is a little early to close the pools - especially the indoor one. Can't comment on the catering as we self-catered and we didn't make use of any of the entertainment facilities. We basically used it as a base to get to Malaga and other interesting places in the area and enjoyed the pools, etc while we were there. Couldn't fault the standard of accommodation for the price we got it for through Alpharooms (although the rack rate on the hotel's own website seemed excessive.)

Myself and my partner stayed here for five nights with our two year old daughter Great food,The staff are so helpfull and always so friendly. Nikki the entertainer kept our daughter dancing and well entertained. The hill is not as bad as people say,you can go through the car park, but its worth the views. we will definitaly return again.Great break away.!!

7 night holiday

24 February 2010
This hotel was excellent. Think it was only built in 2004, it was really comfortable, good quality accommodation. Excellent indoor area for kids to play, including trampoline, books, games. Also a covered outdoor area, with balls, tennis rackets, mini golf, slides, climbing frame, table tennis etc. Enthusiastic & talented team to entertain kids. Mini disco every night with party games. Also games room with pool, air hockey, electronic games etc. Indoor pool & jacuzzi also great in February. Outdoor pools looked nice, but not tried. Staff very friendly and efficient. Down sides are: really steep hill to get to the hotel - short but steep climb. Our room was quite small & so was the balcony. Excellent value for money.

Just back from a week in benelmadena palace. We stayed there for a week from 14th feb. We had a 1 bed apartment in the hotel. Cant fault it. Fridge microwave hob etc. Had a bedroom, sitting room come kitchen. Bathroom and nice balcony. Room was spotless maids called everyday and changed sheets and replaced towels. Facilities are excellent you would hardly even need to leave the hotel. There is entertainment for kids and adults all day. Disco and activities at night. Staff very friendly would definitly recomend this hotel. There is a huge hill up to the hotel but you will get used to it.

Does what it says on the tin!

20 February 2010
I found this hotel good value for money. I've stayed in better but it really depends in what you're looking for in a holiday. The weather at our time of stay was not good but our children had a great time as there were loads of activities organised for them by a hard working mini-club staff. This gave myself and my wife loads of time to take it easy, read, enjoy the pool, gym, etc. The food was good and the rooms/hotel was clean. A bus service locally took us conveniently to our various destinations, as the hotel is a good(but nice) walk from the centre of things. Cardiac hill was NOT a problem and won't be if you're under 65 and aren't a couch potato. Some holiday makers we met were returning again in the summer - says it all really.

We found this hotel excellent having stayed in many hotels at location would go back to this one.Accomodation very good, indoor pool and spa a great bonus we made use of this and it was quieter this time of year. The staff throughout were some of the nicest and most helpful I have came across and that made all the difference.Entertainment provided every night was sufficient and bar had good fun atmosphere. The hill access looks bad but not a problem you soon find ways of avoiding it if need be.Looking to book again soon.

Good Hotel - worth the money

18 January 2010
Good hotel, we have 3 children - 3,1 and 13 - the 2 bed apartments were adequate esp with having 2 bathrooms. The hill is a nightmare!!! with a double buggy!! dont shop in hotel shop - far to expensive - go to shop at bottom hill through indoor pool exit. The train is really cheap and quick, the buses run every 20 min. Go to Mijas - the views are stunning. Above the marina are nice restaurants to eat in. Looky Looky men - pay no more than 13 euro for a bag!! they start at silly money but will come down - haggle. Wait til happy hour at bar before buying as prices are silly!! just stock up. I would recommend and stay again - but when kids a bit older and dont have to push pram up the hill. Clean rooms - bed made every day, towels changed reg, staff nice (made great effort with the children). Entertainment was ok but same old . . and on a bit late for us so didnt really get to benifit from it. Book it - Go - and enjoy the break!!

We are due to visit this Hotel at end of January 2010. Having visited this area before I can advise travellers that there is a metro train from the airport to Benalmadena for about 2 or 3 Euros. The station is at Benalmadena Costa, about a mile from the hotel. If you purchase a day ticket you can travel back and forth to Torremolinos and a few other places very cheaply.

Pleasant staff, big apartments, something on every night. Cooking facilities could be better-( two rings and a microwave). Very near beach but rather a steep climb back to the hotel. Very interesting old town near the train station. Make sure you visit the old part of Malaga (bus every 20 minutes from stop near hotel).

enjoyable stay, good pool.

01 January 2010
stayed for 5 nights between xmas and new year, the rooms are very much a 'does what it says on the tin' and no different to any other 4* hotel in the area, but as it is simply for sleeping it is fine. be careful about what you leave lying around on the bed as the maid scooped up a white t-shirt with the laundry that we never saw again. reception very helpful, the much talked about hill is NOT an issue as you can simply use your room key to go through the garage and up in the lift but the hill is also good exercise anyhow. did not use any evening facilities as were always out. on the third floor the music from the snack bar at night might cause issues for small children but on the forth and above it is fine. now comes the good part, we booked this hotel for one reason, the pool. as the weather on the costa at that time of the year is 'unpredictable' the pool is a good 'back-up'plan. we used it every morning at about 9.00am when it is always empty, the sauna, steam room etc are also very good and all in aal makes for a great start to the day, however when it rains it gets very busy during the day so go early to avoid the crowds and literally have it to yourself. would certainly book again, not so much for the room which is adequate but for the pool and spa which you simply cant beat at this price, very rare on the costa. not so sure about alpharooms again though, had some troubles with the booking....

Disappointed with alpharooms because transfer never showed up

30 December 2009
When we arrived in Malaga airport, the transfer to the hotel that we had paid alpharooms.com in advance was not at the airport to meet us. Hence we had to arrange our own taxi to the hotel. Unfortunately the taxi driver dropped us at the wrong hotel, where we were informed that alpharooms had most likely gone bust since they had not arranged our transfer to the hotel nor our hotel booking, we were in shock. Despite numerous e-mails to alpharooms regarding a refund for the transfer that was never organised by them, they still have not responded and we have not been reimbursed the forty odd euro we paid for the transport. It is not only the cost of the transport it is the fact that we stayed in the airport for nearly an hour and a half trying to contact alpharooms and then went to the wrong hotel. Very annoying, poor service from alpharooms. Benalmedana Palace Hotel was quite pleasant, so much so that we are considering a return visit at Easter time. But we will not be booking through alpharooms again.

Very satisfied

30 December 2009
My husband and I plus our grown up son from Germany stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment for the Christmas week. Unfortunately it rained cats and dogs most days but the indoor pool, gym, jacuzzi, sauna etc. really made a difference in the daytime. At nights there is a cinema and bar entertainment so it was a very nice week away. I had read the reviews before our visit and could find no problem with the "elevated" position. I am 64 with some arthritis and we either gained access to the hotel via the underground parking or if we had shopping then was dropped of and taxis are cheap. The staff are so friendly and the hotel is very clean and bedding and towels are changed virtually every day. Wifi is available in reception and bar area so is very useful. We all had a great holiday, just a shame about the weather. We would thoroughly recommend it and will visit again.

Xmas and New Year

18 December 2009
Had a fabulous week over xmas (2008) to New Year (2009). During the week we hired a car and looked at the sights. When at the hotel, nan relaxed on the balcony in the sun. Our 9 year old played football and joined in the great activities. Me and my hubby had some real quality time together, and loved the indoor pool, steam room, spa and sauna. This hoyel provided good food, good service and was always kept very clean. The facilites and the security was excellent. The only problem for nan was the hill but you can hardly blame the hotel for that!! Loved it so much we are going back this year. Hope to report when we get back.

very friendly hotel- another great trip.

16 December 2009
A few point worth noting but not for bad reasons. 1. CCTV in all corridors - exceptional secuirty. 2. If you have late flights and are self catering it is cheaper to book and extra night. £36/36Euros for extending checkout from 10.30am to 6pm. So consider adding an extra night even for one room if there are a few of you. 3. Hill can give problems for those in need of hip replacements garage access does help. 4. 25Euros to Airport in taxi. 5. Happy hour 8-10pm. 6. Spacious balconies and viewing terraces. - Opt for pool facing Apts. 7. Bars 1Euro a Bud/San Mig at bottomn of hill , turn left. 8. Avoid Antons bar , open v. late but v. expensive 9. Trains every 30 mins to Malaga less than 2Euros ( also stops at Airport )

Enjoyable stay

09 December 2009
We stayed as self-catering quests. On arrival there was some fresh fruit, teabags, coffee, milk and sugar, lwaiting for you in your room, until you got to the supermarket which was a couple of minutes walk away. The apartment was spacious, clean, clean towels every day. The reception staff were friendly, the poolside was really nice and many sun terraces which have lovely views. The only drawback was the hotel is situated on a steep hill, but we got around that by using the lift to the carpark and exiting from there, the rest of the way down to the main road is not too bad. There was some construction work during our stay, but it did not affect our stay. Overall we would stay in this hotel again which I think we will do in the near future.

Good all rounder

08 December 2009
I have been in more than my fair share of Spanish hotels this year for one reason or another so i have stayed in some grand constructions and some alacarte food providers but on the whole i found this one to be the best. Good price , good food, great spa, excellent entertainment and in December as well most hotels have given up by then, not bad bar prices, well equipped rooms. very clean, not a bad position for benalmadenas attractions. If i had one complaint decor in the rooms was a little tired looking but if your not laura Ashley herself you soon get over this and i am sure you will enjoy your stay. My kids thought it was fantastic. 8 and 12. especially the parrot show. It even has cbeebies on the TV. Point below taken about the photo people but i was lucky as i actually wanted the photo but can sympathise with those that would not. And i went to the parrot show and i dont think they could have been so forceful as i saw no bad practices.

only 1 fly in the ointment

03 December 2009
well we booked this short break at the last moment so was a little worried what it might be like. upon arrival it was an easy freindly check in process. we had the most inexpensive room but requested a sea view and high floor. the studio was a good size with a living room and seperate bedroom kitchenette and good size bathroom. the beds were comfy for spain and clean we had a side sea view on the third floor. the tv had lots of english chanels at no extra charge. we didnt even have to leave a deposit for the channel changer that usually you do. the dinning room was small as work was taking place whilst we were there hence the good deal. the food although simple was enough and it was good and hot. some live cooking as well . the pool area was really nice with a snack bar that had a good range of snacks and meals at reasonable prices. the disco pub was freindly with the bar staff woking really hard at happy hour(twice a day)to get everyone sorted out, really proffessional. there was a great group of people staying there all freindlythere was a karaoke evening that was ok. the only fly in the ointment was that there was an owl show there(birds of prey and that sort of live animal show) and after the show we were outside in the smoking area and the bird people came and almost forcible put a leather glove on my husbands hand and without asking or telling us it was to sell photos, took 2 photos of my husband then demanded on the spot 20 euro. this happened to others who were also angry and felt threatened so paid up, we didnt pay up as we couldnt see the photo that we never asked for. we feel this act will damage the hotels reputation.the management need to watch this sort of practise. everything else at this hotel was good and we would go there again but not to the owl show. the hotel would then miss out on the drinks we would buy.

Review of Benalmadena Palace

28 October 2009
We got back last night from this hotel. We stayed for 4 nights. It is a good hotel with small but functional apartments. They were clean and towels were replaced every day. The small kitchenette is handy for making lunches or dinner. There is a very steep hill up to the hotel however once you have checked in you can use the back door in and out from 0800 to 2000 and that's fine. I think this hotel is perfect for families as there are plenty of things to do for kids. You wouldn't be able to nap in the afternoons or go to bed too early as it is very loud. There are courtesy rooms for you to get ready in if your flight is later than check out time which is 10.30 am. I would recommend families for this hotel - it's close to the beach too so all in all a good experience.

Excellent Hotel - Can't Fault It

27 October 2009
The Benalmadena Hotel was excellent!! We went for the October half term with our 2 children aged 6 and 3 and they had a wonderful time. We were half board and the food was delicious and plentiful, the rooms were lovely, but were a bit understocked on self catering equipment. The facilities in the hotel were fantastic with excellent shows in the evening and mini disco for the children - our children were never bored. The happy hour from 9-10pm was most welcomed aswell!! The indoor and outdoor pools were spot on (abit chilly but when you're hot, they're refreshing!), both pools supervised by life guards, who were quite strict but were they for everyone's pleasure. The infamous hill isn't at all bad. Yes, it's a hill but as other reviews have said, go through the car park using your card key, or use the exit which takes you to the Maxi supermarket. All-in-all an excellent holiday, and we hope to return next year. Completely faultless hotel.

Hotel has a lot of facilities - especially for young families. The indoor and outdoor pools were excellent . The infamous hill up to the hotel is not for the faint hearted. There is a "beach road " exit which avoids a steep climb . Use this exit to get to the nearest supermarket which is in the car park at the back of Burger King and not very well signposted

really enjoyed our holiday, but glad we read the reviews and knew about the hill and the short cut threw the underground car park. Staff were smashing especially the cleaners and the reception they were always pleasant and ready to help. kitchen is basic but its so cheap to eat out you don't need a lot. The one bed apartment is ideal for a couple or a young family with little one's. For what your paying it's not worth sharing. we got the train from the airport (3 euro's) and then a taxi down from Arroya/Benalmadena station (7euro's) its between 25 and 30 euro's in a taxi from the airport total cost for us there and back 20euro + tip saving us the price of a night at Terry fox's palace. if your broad minded (very broad minded) you'll love it. another must see is Jason oliver at the el dorado on Sunday night he's brill hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did

Best Holiday ever

23 October 2009
We stayed in this hotel in October 2009. I woud say it was the best holiday yet for us! We have one small child, age 4. She had a ball! The hotel is lovely, all great facilities in rooms, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, kettle, toaster, microwave, walk in shower, shower over bath, clean towels everyday, room cleaned everyday, beds made etc. The pool outside is great, indoors great too - bit cold though. Entertainment excellent for children under 10. Hotels own entertainment every night, mini club for kids, which is also great for over 5s. Trampoline, outside and indoor play area. Only downside is a big hill to get up to the hotel which is a struggle but well worth it! There is a shortcut through the parking area which helps. Area great with plenty to see, shops ok, not great. Other nearside resorts have better shops. Overall I would say it is an excellent hotel and we will be back next year, all being well.

We loved it, OK it was a bit of a walk to the night life and clubs but there are plenty of bus's and taxi's. The weather was brill so we enjoyed the walk. I'm glad we'd read the reviews and knew about the steep hill up to the hotel, but the info on the short cut through the car park under the hotel was a great help (shame you couldn't use it after 11.00pm after a few large brandy's it would have been very welcome). The staff were all lovely. Only used the hotel evening entertainment once, as it was a family orientated hotel the act and quiz would have more suited a holiday camp, that didn't matter to us and was ideal for those with young children. There is so much to do in Benalmadena with clubs and pubs having good entertainment your spoiled for choice

Wonderful stay at the Palace!!!! Sept 2009

13 October 2009
ravelled with 2 mature adults, 3 girls in 20s and 1 infant. Stayed in the Benalmadena Palace for 10nights on a self catering basis. We booked 2 one bedroom apartments and requested these beside each other and with sea views. We were located on the 4th floor beside each other with beautiful views over the sea, with a breath-taking sunrise in the morning! Apartments were clean, spacious and had all things you would need for a self catering break. There is a supermarket onsite (which is quite expensive) but 2 within the close walking distance of the hotel. Our rooms were cleaned the 10 days we were there and clean towels provided daily. There was excellent entertainment provided by the hotel which included parrot shows, flamengo dancers, reptile show, bingo, karoke, magic shoes etc... The outdoor pool was clean and spacious. The indoor pool was lovely, espeically in the evening time... also the sauna, steam room and turkish baths were a delight!! The "cardiac hill" as it is known, isnt actually too bad...i pushed a buggy up and I wouldnt b the fittest in the world! You can cut out the worst part of it by using your key card. The beach is about 100m walk - downhill - and is absolutely beautiful. You can hire the sunbeds for 4euros - which is excellent value as you get a mattress to lie on. The marina is about a 30-40 minute walk away from the hote, along the promenade. IT is a must see. Eating places in Benalmadena, we thought wer not good. The best meal we had was Fish and Chips out of The Last Resort beside McDonalds. ALso plagued by men/ women selling handbags, jewllery, cows, massages etc...haggle them down!! dnt pay nemore than 12 euro for a handbag!! they may start at 35 euro so dont get ripped off!!!! All in all had a fantastic stay at the benalmadena palace and would de return in the near future!!!!!

We found this hotel very clean and the staff friendly. The rooms were quite modern and well equiped, especially liked the full size ironing board and iron and the 2 showers in the bathroom. We had a large balcony overlooking the mountains which was a good veiw. The pool was a good size but no balls were allowed.Plenty activities to take part during the day and the food in the pool terrace snack bar was very good. The hotel was situated a good walk from the marina but there was plenty of restaurants and bars within a 5 minute walk.We had a good relaxing holiday in this hotel.

Have just returned from a very good holiday staying at this hotel. The hill is not that bad and you can always take the short cut through the car park. The room was small but for sleeping was fine. Maybe a little updating should be considered. For kids this hotel is perfect always plenty for them to do. Was quite a walk down to the marina but would definately recommend this hotel

Brilliant Holiday

20 August 2009
Hotel was excellent for kids and also adults. I have 2 kids, 10+ and 8, didn't see them all day playing with friends in the outdoor and indoor pools, kiddies club, entertainment at the pool. Entertainment for kids also in the evening and also at night. Hotel had everything, you didn't have to leave the hotel all day long, lovely snack bar. The room we had was very comfortable and spacious although my parents went for a week and their room was very small. Clean towels and sheets 3 or 4 times a week but you could get clean towels and sheets if you wanted them inbetween the days. Main Restaurant was a bit expensive for breakfast and dinner compared to restaurants on the prom. Entertainment was brilliant for both adults and kids in the disco bar at night 10-12. Local supermarket behind hotel very reasonable. Hill was bit steep up to hotel but there was a lift available it was faster just to walk up the hill. Hotel was at the edge of the resort so there was bit of walking to do before you reached the port if thats what you want. Would recommend this hotel and would definitely return to this hotel again.

Fantastic hotel

Really enjoyed our time here. Loads for the children (6 & 9) to do. Pools are great - check out the jacuzzi. Kids club top class as were the people running it. Views of the sea from our room were beautiful. Only downside is the situation of hotel. The hill didn't bother us but there is not too much around the area. Because of this we spent most evenings in the hotel bar which had good entertainment nightly. We only ate in hotel twice and it was lovely. We visited torremolinos and fuengirola as buses so cheap. Try the cosy nook in la carihuela near torremolinos, food really good and staff very friendly. Would stay here again. Top class
