Beekman - A New York Gem!

28 January 2006
This hotel is a fantastic base for exploring New York!
We stayed in the Beekman Tower hotel for 4 nights. There were seven of us in two suites - got an amazing rate and upgraded to the United Nations Diplomat Suites!
The hotel is beautiful with an art-deco inspired interior. It's clean, smart and the staff were really friendly.
Location-wise it's great. It's away from the crazyness of Times Square, but close enough to be central (just a 10 minute walk) and being close to Central Park, Rockerfeller, Grand Central Station, Empire State....you name it...makes it ideal for exploring the city.
As a group of all females we felt totally safe and comfortable in the area, even at night.
The bar at the top of the building is great for cocktails, especially at night.
Would highly recommend anyone to stay at the Beekman...we will the next time we go back (hopefully very soon!)

After an unplanned tour of the hotel (firstly being given keys to a room someone was already in, then being checked into a twin room when we'd booked a double) the staff were amazingly helpful in relocating us to a fantastic room, which had a wonderful view of East Manhattan.  I would agree with previous review - beds could be slightly softer - but everything else in regards to service and the room was brilliant.  Nightcap in the 'Top of the Tower' bar a must.

We have just returned from New York for the week, and stayed several days at the Beekman. We arrived earlier than we planned, due to an earlier flight, and had to wait a short time for another room to be readied, the staff stored our luggage, and invited us to have breakfast at the resturant while we waited. In less than thirty minutes, we were in our room. It was very nice, clean!!!  If we had one suggestion... the beds... they are a little hard!!! Perhaps a down topper to soften them ?  Other than this, we had absolutely no complaints, had a great stay... was a fabulous value... we'd recommend it time and time again!!  The location is perfect for access to the theatres, and the museums... if you're going to New York... stay at the Beekman!!

The staff at this hotel were AWESOME!  Friendly, helpful, went waaaaaaaay out of their way to make sure our stay in New York was the best ever.

We got into NYC quite early on a Thursday and the staff stashed our bags until they had a room ready for us, then recommended some nearby sights to see while we waited.  (Times Square and Rockefeller Plaza are only a few blocks away, and the United Nations is half a block away!)  Unfortunately, our rooms were not vacated on time by the previous guests (but we did get to meet the previous guests and they were a jolly little bunch from Ireland, just running a little late).  The staff conversed with us in the lobby until things were ready.

The rooms (we had a 1-bedroom suite) were nice-sized, and everything was immaculate despite the late departure of the previous guests.  The queen bed in the bedroom was uber-comfy, as was the pull-out sofabed that my kids used.  There were televisions in both the living room and bedroom.  The kitchen was stocked with all the dishes, pots, pans, etc., that we'd need.  The bathroom was small but efficient, and it was very clean and well-appointed.

The room was a little warm (the heat is centralized and there was no way to adjust it from inside the room), but when I called the front desk, they immediately sent someone to come up and open the windows a smidge, and we were very comfortable the four days we were there.

Although breakfast wasn't included in the price of the room, there was a supermarket around the corner and we had that lovely little kitchen with everything we needed.  With the United Nations just down the block, there were many great restaurants in the area, and the staff were helpful in recommended tasty and affordable places to nosh.

I just can't say enough good things about the staff.  Even though we were staying there via a VERY inexpensive alpharooms.com voucher, they treated us like royalty.  Every request was met with a smile and a little something extra -- not just an answer but an anecdote, a recommendation, or a compliment about what good guests we were (which is quite polite with two teenagers in our group!).

I would definitely stay at Beekman Towers again.  The price was unbeatable, the service was fantastic, and the rooms are well-furnished and very comfortable.

arrived at the hotel and asked for a high floor and was advised straight away no room available what i found a bit odd as i thought you have to check the availibility first , the room was very hot and we where advised immediately how to get the room temperature down , there was snow on the ground in ny at that time , but i did not wanted to stay in a sauna either , anyway room was spacious and did the trick as sightseeing and shopping was the agenda , the hotel itself lives from the glory many years ago but it has subsatanional room and the facilities great for the price but it could be refurbished to bring it back to the swing off it `s old glory , very good value for money offer and other facilities was not used at all as breakfast was not included in the rate . if you are looking for a place to stay what gives value for money then this is the place
