good holiday

11 November 2007
Bayside was all we needed very good value for money. Rooms were cleaned daily, weather wasgreat so we bought food from local supermarket and ate on our terrace at lunchtimes with local wine. Ten minute walk to the beach which is lovely. It would have been better had there been more eating places in the vicinity but it did not spoil our holiday as you could go into Albufeira on the free bus and be spoilt for choice with all kinds of eating places at very good prices. This was a most relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Excellent value

25 October 2007
The hotel is a good basic hotel with all you will need for a nice quiet week away. It is not anywhere near the strip in Albufeira (thankfully). It has around 5 or 6 bars restaurants within 10 minutes walk but if you want to enjoy it best hire a car because the roads are very quiet and easy to drive on. The hotel has non stop sports every night and usually some entertainment which was okay. 2nd time I have been and although it could easilly be made a better hotel the price you pay is less than camping in a tent!

hire a car, is a must!!!

22 August 2007
My husband, son (7years) and I stayed at Bayside for 2 weeks in August 2007. The apartments were all fully booked and considering the ratio per sunbed was 10:1 with lots of broken ones that can't sit up. We got sunbeds 2 days due to by 7am most had towels on. There was a regular bus twice a day to albufeira, which is a great time to get water, beer and other essentials without having to walk 10mins to the nearest one to the resort. The beach is lovely but best wait till lunch time as most of the locals leave then adn there is room to sit without getting stampled on by the walking locals that walk up and down the beach wearing small thongs on there no so small bodies (and that is only the men)!!. Entertainment was good when on 3 out of 7 days average. No 24hr reseption so any problems at night have to wait. Apartments are very basic microwave but no toaster or kettle, ok for lunches but very tricky to prepare a main meal. Everything was clean and rooms. bins, beds done daily. To get the most out your holiday I recomment a car we hired one from reception for 4 days for the price of 3, very reasonable. Then spent days at local market, Villa mor, cheap supermarkets (aldi) and seeking great beaches if you look you can find some wonderful places and great eating places day and night. In all it is what you make it, if you spend your days playing the sun bed game and walking too and from the supermarket you will not enjoy your time at bayside. If you like us spend what you have saved on your holiday on a car for a few days you will see a differnt holiday and be glad to relax at the end of the day. P.S it is well worth E5 to visit scoobies pool bar spend the day it was loads of fun. Enjoy. Amanda, Stuart and Joe

second visit to bayside

28 July 2007
my wife and i stayed at bayside from the 23/06/07 to 07/07/07, the second time at this resort. I asked for a first floor apartment with south facing balcony which is what i was given. The place was clean and towels and bed linen were changed regularly. We did not use the restaurant so i cannot comment on it but it always looked busy. We always hire a car and go to Albufiera to eat, there are plenty of restaurants and beaches within walking distance. We would certainly go to bayside again.

Menu is basic and repetitive. Sirloin was off the menu, had to eat fish covered in traditional portugese sauce (tasted as if it was out of a jar), chips served with everything. Barman multitasked serving food, doing bar, answering phones, probably did the bellydance as well. He was under a lot of pressure, service at bar very slow, due to this a lot of grumpy people about. The place is well out of the way, tip is not to eat at hotel, go to old town, great wee bar called rock cafe that plays rock at night, staff are great would I go back? Yes, but would hire a car and bring some food and drink.

The accommodation was adequate for our needs as golfers. The drinks at the hotel were more expensive than England, the food was not very good and the service was poor. They only supplied 1 key per room, which made it very awkward if your room mate had the key and you got split up after a night out, as they would not even open your room for you.Overall staff very unhelpful, would not go there again.

Not knowing much about it beforehand, we were very pleasantly suprised and happy with EVERYTHING, from the location to the accomodation and amenities. The staff were always pleasant and helpful and the bar and restaurant area a happy haven for football-watching on the giant screen! We were there in June 2006 when even the unseasonal couple of rain clouds did not dampen our enjoyment of a truly wonderful holiday. A special mention for the superb and thoughtful way the gardens and paths around the apartments were kept; and nearby Gale' beach was amazing, so much sand! Well done Bayside, especially for your breakfasts!

We visited Bayside in June 2006, my wife and I on our 6th visit to this part of the Algarve. Bayside was in a remote area and a car is essential although ameneties close by. The place is very clean and bedding and towels were changed regularly. There are new building works next door, which are nearly completed, but this did not affect us at all.The room had aircon, which we did not need to use although weather was very hot.The only downside was the first floor apartments had narrow spiral staircases which would be awkward for elderly carrying cases. Would recommend and would certainly go again.
