Great Weeks Holidays

22 June 2008
Hi. We stayed at this hotel for seven nights in june. Most of the staff are friendly but some not so and note you will be waiting for your drinks and snacks even though there seems to be loads of staff. The food was mostly good but you had the one or two days the food was only fair with not much choice. Also you cannot eat in the Snack bar between 1 and 3.30 for All Inclusives unless you paid which i though was ridiculous The rooms were spotless clean and were washed and beds made daily. Entertainment was excellent and all the girls were mad about Billy the Chief Entertainer, would go back for the entertainment alone. Kids club was great and our youngest loved it, so so did we. The pool area was very large with no shortage of beds and it was also neer the playground and kids club which was a bonus. There is no Lifeguard on duty there so if you want to relax with small kids in the pool it is difficult. Weather was fantistic for the week and the girls made loads of friends with lots of tears on the way home. Would definately return there again.

Brilliant! Recommend!

12 June 2008
This is the second time we've been to this hotel and we love it! The location is brilliant - right on the beach front and only about 10 minutes drive from airport. Despite proximity to airport the planes didn't bother us at all. The hotel itself is excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful and facilities excellent. The entertainment was brilliant. The team put on a show every night and although it was the first time they'd performed the new routines they were really good and well received. There was a great choice of food - something for everybody. Maid's cleaned the room every day and towels if wished, no complaints. Resort is pretty quiet - but enough going on to keep us happy. If you hire a car then Corralejo is not too far away with gorgeous sand dunes and turqoise waters. Could say so much, we love it at this hotel and can't wait to go back again!

No complaints

Stayed for nine nights in March. All in all a good stay. Rooms - very good size, but in need of refurbishment. Staff - generally friendly and efficient, with the usual few miserable suspects!. Food - Very good quality compared to other similar hotels. The theory seems to be two to three quality choices rather that six dodgy dishes. Cleaning - bedrooms kept well in visible areas (not under beds or in blind spots, which you see when you have a six year old who is chasing toys everywhere!). Sheets were only changed once during stay. Pool area could have been given more attention also, i.e. small plastic tables were rarely if ever cleaned. Entertainment - the area for the shows etc is lovely, quite large and professional looking, but unfortunately the in house entertainment is bad, blush worthy bad. The nights that they have outside groups/shows are ok, every second nite or so. The only consolation on this point is that six year olds think its great, in fact our son had his best holiday ever here and therefore we had a relaxing time by default!. Kids - The pool area, kids club and play ground are nicely situated together for parents, and if you request your room to be in the section overlooking this area, you can see you child 24/7, and relax at the same time. This is a big plus on any holiday. There is also two mini golf courses on the grounds. Adults - there is a completely seperate block and pools for adults who wish to escape kids also. There is a very impressive looking Spa attached to the hotel which we didnt use. Overall - The resort is small but I liked it. The beach is right on the hotel doorstep. The hotel was missing something athmosphere wise, around the pool and also in the evenings. Though all the elements were there, I didnt come home rushing to book it again, which I have done before with other hotels.

Had a really great stay. Pool area looks fab, really tropical looking! Kids loved the swimming and pool was warm. Room is huge, ours was on ground floor, not an insect in sight all week. Lots of choice on food, all inclusive very good, our room was cleaned and changed every day. Fab stay and would return. Nice area for young kids, near nice beach and harbour with boat trips etc. Kids loved Harley the seal. Watch out for photos taken by snake man at evening entertainment. Charges a really high price.

We have stayed many times in the hotel before and found it just as good this time. The staff are friendly and service good, although a bit slow in the bar in the evenings a bit slow. Children loved entertainment. Found the food to be really good with a lot more variety than in previous years. A great time had by all.

Disappointed

27 March 2008
I have visited this hotel many times but this was my first stay there. My room was on the lower level and my balcony overlooked the playground which was ideal as I was travelling alone with my 6 year old. As we were so close to the greenery we had an abundance of mosquitos and other other creepy crawlies. This I would expect but the attitude of the staff when I complained about this and problems we all had with the the water were not the 4 star service I expected. The room was "cleaned" 3 times during my 5 day stay. When I arrived the sofabed had crayons and a sterling coin underneath and at the end of the stay they were still there. Entertainment staff were great and food was just ok until the 15th of March when the "Easter guests" started to arrive and the quality of the food increased 10 fold. I was disappointed in some areas and do not think it rates 4 stars, 3 stars is what it deserves. Stay on the top 2 floors to avoid mosquito bites

Satisfied!

11 February 2008
We went to the Fuerty Barcelo for 10 days during Jan & Feb 08 and had a nice time; this was our second visit to the hotel and we were all inclusive. The hotel is very clean and situated perfectly in the heart of Caleta de Fuste; this trip I found the room we stayed in far too warm and never got used to it all trip; the air con is on but didn't reduce to the room temperature enough to allow for a comfortable environment especially at night. The hotel caters for all nationalities so the choice of food is designed in the same way; the breakfast and evening meal was always excellent with plenty of choice and staff to assist you; the midday lunch was pretty basic but good enough; several people complained that some of the food was never hot enough! The entertainment in the main theater wasn't in our taste but it was always packed out with a decent show on in the evening; the main let down here is the bar service at night; trying to get drinks is like pulling teeth and no better from our first experience. On our arrival the sewage system was in bits so there was a nasty smell for a couple of days and one of the pools was out of action for best part of our holiday; the overall pools area is great with the main one heated and always plenty of beds and great gardens surrounding. The snack bar during the day is nice and the staff very helpful. The gym and jacuzzi are OK and right next to the snack bar. Overall a decent holiday experience but we will try another hotel next time and probably back in Corralejo; Fuste is a little quiet that time of year although the weather was great.

Review of 'Barcelo Fuerteventura'

11 March 2007
Excellent hotel. Rooms and public areas are immaculate. Pools and surroundings are fantastic with plenty of beds available at all times. Food is ok, but variety obviously catered for every nationality rather than just the Brits. Lots to do during the day, but the evening entertainment is aimed at the older age bracket - but this may be just because i was there in March. Treatments at the Spa next door are perfect for a relaxing holiday. An up and coming resort, it is small and relatively quiet at the present time but will be much bigger in a few years - building work is going on further down the coast, but nowhere near the hotel, don't worry! I will be back and will recommend it for friends and family.

Proximity to the airport was a huge bonus. We were in our hotel room in 15 mins. Hotel is spotless and the rooms are a great size. The huge selection at the buffet meals means that there is always something available to suit your taste. Two large pools and plenty of sun loungers plus the beach outside the gate, you couldn't go wrong.
We had a wonderful week and would highly recommend the hotel to anybody, young and old alike.

Stayed in the Barcelo El Castillo Apartments in August 2006 and had a great holiday with our friends. Came back on our own to Barcelo Fuerteventura for a short break. Had a good holiday - apart from the weather. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Rooms are a good size but more 3* than 4. It as also freezing in them at night. Took the clothes of one bed to put on the other - so hubby and I ended up sleeping in one single bed!! We asked in reception about heat in the rooms, we were told there was none- but other guests we had spoken to said they DID have heating , though they were in Block 2.We were in block 3  and it is quite a walk to the resturant and reception.
We went on an all inclusive basis, food was quite good - warm not hot! Lots of it but not a great variety.  Close to shops, beach and a pharmacy just around the corner.

Barcelo the best in town

04 February 2007
After 6 seperate stays in this hotel I still found it the best in town. I visit the island 4 times a year, inparticularly  Caleta de Fuste, as I have family there. Taking all things into consideration (location/entertaimnet/rooms/staff/food/pools/gardens/and of course cost in otherwords every single thing) this is the place to stay. Over ten years of visits we have used most complexes in Caleta and The Barcelo Fuerteventura is the tops.

Even though we got all the annual rainfall for the island during the week we were in the hotel i can honestly say that it did not mar our holiday to any great extent. No doubt coming from Ireland, a very rainy country makes us tolerant of weather.
The hotel is magnificent and the variety of food for every meal something to be marvelled at. I have been fortunate enough to trave quite a bit and have never seen a better variety of cuisine. Rooms were exceptionally comfortable and spacious and staff always friendy and helpful. The presence of all the tour operators in the foyer was a definite bonus as the choices were fantastic and we had two wonderful trips, one around the island itself and one to around the Lanzorotte island.Check out facitities were fast and easy and we will definitely go back.

As a solo traveller the accommodation in this hotel was good.I had a standard double, spacious and well furnished, with bath + toilet separate from a basin + vanity area. The balcony had sea + pool view. Bedlinen could be changed daily. Airconditioning  poor. The hotel layout cool, clean + airy, with two pool areas. Pool beds very close together. Easy access to beach + seaside walkway. Food was adequate, not worth taking AI,it would be boring on a 14 day stay. Staff pleasant + helpful. Small resort short walk away. Overall best place to be in this resort.

This is a fantastic hotel! It has the best location in Caletta de Fuste, right on the beach.  The staff are all very friendly, the hotel is kept very clean and the rooms are bigger than expected. There is plenty to keep you entertained if you don't want to venture far and the kids clubs seemed great even involving the kids in the evening entertainment.
We went for a relaxing week and that's what we got, there is something for everyone.  Food very good and caters for all, it is very easy to over-indulge!! Try the spa next door, where you get discount if at Barcelo, for a real treat! Weather was fab too! Hoping to go back in Oct with family and kids. Highly recommended.

Excellent hotel, situated right on the beach front.  Rooms were spacious and very clean with daily cleaning service and regular linen change as and when required.  Stayed half board and quality and variety of food was very good.  Nightly entertainment definitely aimed at the younger clientele (10 and under).  Plenty of sunbeds at the pools and plenty of activities during the day.  Spa well worth a visit and guests offered 20% discount.  Resort very quiet and relaxing - variety of restaurants and nice walkways.  Only 10 min transfer from the airport. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for good standard of accomodation and facilities for a relaxing holiday.

Location is perfect, my 8 year old son and nephews loved the animation team who kept them amused all day long. Recommend this hotel to anyone with a young family.

Review of 'BARCELO FUERTEVENTURA'

28 November 2005
I have had the good fortune to be able to stay in many 4* hotels, but I can honestly say that the Barcelo was one of the very best.  I felt happy from the moment I was shown to my room. It was huge, clean, bright and so comfortable.  The food in the hotel was outstanding and I looked forward to each mealtime. In order to be able to enjoy all the delicious food on offer, I used the hotel gym each evening for an hour, which had all the equipment necessary for an excellent workout! The beach was a short hop, skip and jump from the hotel, and there were little shops nearby to stroll around.  The evening entertainment was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed myself even though I was a lone traveller. The staff were so friendly and welcoming that I never felt awkward or out of place and I was looked after so well. The in-house entertainment team were superb and put so much energy into each of their shows. They could also been seen about the hotel during the day, so that when you saw them on stage in the evening, you felt as though you knew them. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - the room was excellent, the food outstanding, the staff charming, the entertainment thoroughly entertaining, and the location beautiful. You haven't had a good 4* holiday until you've tried the Barcelo.  I will definitely be going again.

We have just returned from a most enjoyable holiday staying at BARCELO FUERTEVENTURA,this hotel is first class in every repect, the bedrooms are large and furnished very nice, all rooms have sea or pool views. The pool areas are spotlessly clean and theres no shortage of sunbeds. The resturant offers a great variety of choice for all meals and the staff are very friendly. The auditorium where the nightly entertainment is held is tiered so everyone can see and there is something for every age from the childrens disco to acrobats, showtime and much more.I certainly wouldn't hestitate in staying here again, in fact we are hoping to later in the year. I would recommend BARCELO FUERTEVENTURA to anyone who likes somewhere that little bit special. The hotel is central to everything the weekly markets, taxi rank and shops.AGAIN 5 OUT OF 5

Review of 'BARCELO FUERTEVENTURA'

This was our first visit to Fuerteventura and a Barcelo Hotel.  We were extremely impressed with both.  This is a lovely hotel with comfortable rooms.  The facilities are excellent you can get involved as much as you like with the activities which are run by a very friendly inhouse team (they actually seem to enjoy what they are doing) or you can relax by the lovely outdoor pools. The only negative with the pool area was that it was stated that you were not allowed to reserve the sun beds but unfortunately people were not playing by the rules and putting towels on beds from early morning so if you wanted a bed in the afternoon it was very difficult to find one so we had no choice but to follow suit and place towels on the beds and reserve them. The evening entertainment was very good, one night the inhouse team the next a professional act, nice comfortable seating in a theatre type atmosphere.  The food at this hotel is very varied only complaint being that it was often only just warm but this seems to be the way with continental buffets at most places.  Caleta de Fuste is a very clean area there are a good selection of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars and nowhere was overcrowded which was a bonus. We were there 2-9 April and it was very hot so don't be fooled by the breeze use the suntan cream!  We will most definately return again!!
