ANOTHER GREAT HOLIDAY AT BARCELO
16 June 2008
Great accommodation, great food, friendly staff all added up to a Great Holiday. Been to Barcelo twice before and have stayed in all the accommodation as either half board or self catering. Arrived in May 2008 to stay in superior accommodation and was pleasantly pleased to find that it had been revamped so it was looking good. Everything is of a high standard and the accommodation is cleaned 3 times a week.
My 5 year old loved the kids club, they take the kids out for mini-golf, trip on submarine or just to play on the beach everyday. The evening entertainment was up to a high standard, although it started a little too late for the youngsters. They do have a kids disco from 8.30pm.
The whole area is perfect for the kids, especially the lovely sandy horseshoe bay and kids are so welcome everywhere.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff from extra pillows to phoning ahead to attractions to get information for us.
The great accommodation, the great food and the wonderfully friendly staff are why we keep coming back here time and time again.

Excellent Holiday
05 June 2008
We have two children 7 & 4, they really enjoyed themselves around the pool area which was very well laid out, the walk along the seafront is a lovely stroll in to the main part for dinner in the evening. We were in the bungalows with a seaview, it was clean and the maid service was around 5 of the 7 days we were there. Overall a great family place and would recommend it.

Great Family Friendly Resort
01 May 2008
My Husband, 9 month old son and myself stayed at the Barcelo Club in Caleta de Fuse from the 23rd April 08. We stayed in the superior bungalows with nice bathroom, kitchenette with microwave, fridge & hob. bedroom and a good size living/dining area. There was also a terrace from the living room and bedroom.
The bungalows were spacious and clean and maid service came every day. We read reports that there were lots of cockroaches around, we did have one in the bungalow and we found four dead ones out on the terrace over the week but it really was not a problem. If your really scared then ask for one of the first floor apartments instead.
The pool area had lovely views over to the beach and there were plenty of sunbeds placed in the sun and in the shade which was ideal for our baby. The pool by our bungalows wasn't heated but after lazying on a sunbed for a while you don't mind jumping straight in. Sometimes this pool wasn't ideal for our little one, but we read a review before that said the pool within the Barcelo Club Castillo Apartments was heated so we went there most days and it was wonderful.
There was a snack bar close by called the picnic box where the couple who owned it were very friendly. The resort itself it so ideal for families with young children as everywhere you go there are slopes and ramps next to every set of steps you come across. The whole resort looks very clean and well cared for too.
If you want to take a short trip around the resort the best way is to take the little train that runs through it. It only costs 2 euros each.
In the evenings eating out with our baby boy wasn't a problem either, in most of the restaurants we went to they had highchairs in them and the staff were so friendly. A few to mention are, O'Conners Irish bar, Fado rock and an english bar/restaurant in the Happy Centre called "something" tavern (cant remember the name) done great steaks and breakfasts. Back in the Barcelo if you want a lovely romantic evening out go the La Paella the food was fantastic and the views across the beach and hotels was great. All in all I would recommend this hotel to couples young and old and families with young children. It was a lovely break and may return there again in the future.

Excellent stay in Barcelo Club el Castillo
12 March 2008
We (wife and young child) stay in Barcelo Club at the start of March 2008. We stayed in a superior bungalow which overlooked the swimming pool. The bungalow was clean with air-con, tv, fridge, microwave etc. everything we needed. A travel cot was supplied on request aswell. The superior bungalows have just been renovated so they are a lot better then the other bungalows and worth the upgrade. Barcelo are in the process of upgrading other apts. etc. some work going on but all work was done behind screens etc. so never effected us. Beach was on our door step as well and there where plenty of nice walks around the bungalow. You are close to the shops etc. so easy getting supplies in. I would recommend staying in the Barcelo club but defo upgrade to a superior. The staff in Barcelo where excellent and very friendly. We had breakfast there each morning and there was alway a great choice of food on display. This was our first time in Fuerteventura and Barcelo, we would definitely stay in Barcelo when we go back. Restaurants to visist "La Fuente", Steakhouse Fado I think it is called does a great chicken paela. Anyway would recommend the Barcelo "Superior" Bungalows. Can't vouch for the normal bungalows :)

Great all year round holiday destination
04 October 2007
Stayed at this resort in the second week in september, weather was very warm, barcelo was a nice surprise, a very big complex with nice winding paths and good accesibilty to all apartments. rooms are quite big with good facilities for self catering, we had a slight damp smell in the bedroom but this is the only complaint. we had a ground floor beach facing apartment.... wow! afternoons where shaded unlike 1st floor apts but in 3 seconds we could walk to the beach.. nice!
5 swiming pools all very nice but only 1 heated pool. resort is very up and coming this can be seen across the bay where hotels are being built just outside the small resort. this hotel could not have a better location, bars resturants and shops are very close. The resturant just up the road La fuente is a must!. el patio and the steakhouse next door are also very nice. avoid la boughita. we read about chipmonks in the resort and u must see them! walk to the harbour and go around to the the rocky seafront you will see what i meen!!!! a little tip from me on airport transfare... barcelo is 8 minutes away in a taxi!

Review of 'Barcelo Club el Castillo'
20 February 2007
My wife and I spent a week at the Barcelo Club from the 10th to the 17th Feb and had a super time. The weather was great, the accomodation couldnt be faulted and the staff particularly in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. The bungalow was cleaned a few times during the week and fresh towels left in every time. For convenience and value for money we couldnt find fault with it and hope to return next year.

The location is perfect best location in caleta. our appartments 2009 2013 were very run down .maybe because of time of year, january, were also very damp .we hired heaters to dry out beds .2009. had cockroaches every morning .our phone didnt work and television reception disapeared every night at 7pm.cleaning was very poor, but we had a lovely time . I should have asked for the refurbished appartments ,as I did pay the higher priced option .but we will go again and be a little more specific about our needs.buffet resturant superb value breakfast 5euro adult and kids free ,dinner 12eu and kids free ,barcelo staff lovely.wonderful choice of holiday if you have young children .

Review of 'Barcelo Club el Castillo'
13 January 2007
We are a late twenties Irish couple and we stayed in the Barcelo Club El Castillo in the first week of January 2007. The apartments are only a ten minute taxi trip from the airport and on our arrival at reception we were dealt with in a fairly effiecient manner. The staff at the counter were effiecient, if not overly-friendly. We were situated very centrally, in the 2000 block, which seems to me to be the most convenient block to stay in. Our room was on the first floor, which had the added advantage of a terrace of around 12ft by 12ft, with two sun loungers. This was surrounded by a wall roughly three feet high. We actually spent a fair amount of time on the sunloungers here, as we found the man made horse shoe beach was affected a little by the strong breezes that prevail around the windy island. The apartment itself was clean and comfortable. A maid called every day of our stay and even though she had little English she was very friendly and efficent. The resort had it's own buffet restaraunt and we found this to be very reasonable and the food to be of a wide varity and good quality. The resort had three pools, not really designed for swimming and unfortunately, for winter, not heated. The nearby beach, about 5oo metres away was nice, but beware, you are charged 9 euros for the daily use of two sunloungers! In general, the Barcelo Club El Castillo was clean and efficent and did what it said on the tin. We were happy with our value for money! I would have no trouble recommending the quiet resort to others.

The overall quality of the apartments are basic but clean. The facilities are very good. No-one tells you but the heated pool is in the far corner of the resort otherwise you are stuck with a very cold pool!
The one real downside was our brand new (two weeks old) mobile phone was taken from our room. (no sign of entry or exit). We spoke to the security Manager who said that he would investigate. No news as yet and we do not expect to hear anything either.
We would go back but it has left a sour taste after otherwise an enjoyable holiday.

01 October 2006
i went to this hotel for my honeymoon and do not regret a single minute of it. though the trip to and from hotel was really hectic one ok, now the hotel. the weather was fantSTIC. though it was wind some days most of the time we spent in the hotel. the holiday reps were crazy with games and competitions every day. evening show was every night which was really cool.
people say that is mainly hotel for young couples and families. that is true. go to this hotel just if you want relax and not party 24/7.
another thing. i thought after reading some other comments that it is mainly german hotel. it is not true. there were germans, spanish, english, and everyone could speak all these languages. some notfluently though :)
and about cockroaches. the most of them used to hang out in self catering places. we went half board and stayed in block 2000 overlooking the sea. in a week haven't seen a single one. :)
maid came tue, wed, and thursday. we had to use dirty towels for two days. still,i do not think that that could have ruined our holiday.
i definatey recommend this place for families kids and i will definatelly come back in a few years time.

Review of 'Barcelo Club el Castillo'
17 August 2006
we arrived at 9.30 the weather was cloudy but this is normal until it burns through about 10.30 -12.30 each day. We could not have our room until 2.00pm which was a long time - there are facilities to put your cases. The room was clean, tidy and quite adequate for our all inclusive hols ( 1 week )I have a 15y girl and 12y boy they had to sleep in the lounge on put you up beds. The food was lovely the location brilliant being quite close the beach and your pool - plenty of activities to do. We did have to get up at 7.00am to get a sunbed in the right place - Im a sun queen!! - but if your not fussy you could manage to find a few about the place at a later time. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that likes a relaxing time by the pool, not too much loud music all night long. On the downside there are a lot of cockroches on the paths at night times - you must keep your windows closed at night unless there in the rooms. We killed two in our apartments!!!!
I would not recommend the kataraman cruise if you are not a good sailor it is very choppy and 4 hours is a long time to feel ill. The food on the trip is ok and all drinks are free. We did not see any dolphins - quite an expensive trip for 4 people £90. The water park is about 45 minutes away - there is not alot of rides there yet but they seem to be extended it - we did have a good day. The pedaloos in the harbour are brill the cost 15 euros for 1 hour do go best laugh weve had. The carmels are on the beach at 10 euros per person a bit hefty!!!! All in all we had a good week even champagne for breakfast.

Review of 'BARCELO CLUB EL CASTILLO'
10 June 2005
Excellently situated in Calleta de Fuste we specificlly chose this complex for location as have stayed in resort several times and the reviews were good. the apartments were very roomy with large equiped sun terrace with table chairs and two sun loungers, clean no bugs to get excited about. there is a large safe hire cost 14 e a week. a hire service for playstations inclusive of two games. micro waves are available thro the very efficient reception staff. even buggies wheelchairs and electic disabled transport. dvd/vidios hire price included 6 films . tv in room mostly german or spanish progs cbnc &cnn plus euro sports in english. Large car parking area near reception but owing to huge area of complex else where parking may be dificult.on street or a distance from your room. The restuarant was very good plenty of choise and staff excelent "look out for Joe Pasqually moonlighting as waiting staff he's his double but not the voice. Lots of young children but excellent behaviour we have none so a little intollerant of Kids . but no problems. Our rooms were over the shopping plaza and close to main pool and entertainment area but no noise to speak of. the kids club was next door to us(temporary site till normal one close to beach is finished refurb. A decent equiped kitchen toaster And ELECTRIC kettle two ring hob NO oven or Microwave. good size bathroom with bath and shower ample hot water The only complaint was that friday and Sunday there is no room cleaning Unfortunatally we were missed on the Saterday as were the three other apartments in block. so not done until late monday nearly four days . a few more cleaners would help! other than that glitch a thoroughly relaxing week was enjoyed. there is the option to upgrade at complex.eg to upgrade from halfboard to all inclusive 17EURQ A DAY PER PERSON WITH FREE UPGRADE FOR UNDER 6 YEAR OLD WE DID TALK TO A COUPLE WHO HAD UPGRADED TO BETTER ROOMS AND ALLIN AND THEIR TWO CHIDREN ABOUT 8 AND 11 WERE UPGRADED TO A/IN FREE. the towel on beds at pool was a problem but again it was the Brits not the Germans doing it. One suprise was we had a Rep. on first morning a letter was delivered to apartment welcoming us to the resort from Elizabeth rep for Hotelbeds this is third time we Have used Alpha but first rep a very nice touch now. Liz was very helpful with tour info etc. A totally unexpected service thanks Alpha
