Gay Guy with Straight Mate
08 July 2008
Once again I have stayed @ Barbados and as usual a great stay - great value for money all year round - stayed November last year and July this year - easy walk to Yumbo for the gay night life ! - Kasbah in 10 mins for the straight nightlife - check out both and see the difference! less stress @ the Yumbo! - walk to the beech - clean rooms - spacious - lovely views of the sun set which i think you get from every room - no negatives at all - if you stay take a tazi from the airport for 40 euros - right to the door and more personal than the transfers for a little less but mean a walk down the road with cases!

good location
07 March 2008
I stayed at the apartments with family and friends in early march 2008. The apartment with two seperate bedrooms was an ideal size for a weeks stay. the chambermaid service was very pleasant and efficient. The swimming pool was very cold but set in attractive grounds with ample sun beds. I chose this hotel due to the closeness to the Jumbo centre. My recommendation would be to ensure that if four of you are sharing an apartment you request additional chairs for the balcony as only two are provided and kitchen stools are not comfortable on the posterier after a day at the beach. I will certainly use this complex again.

Excellent accomodation!
16 February 2008
After having been to Playa del Ingles several times before and stayed at all sorts of apartments and hotels, I must say that this apartment complex really comes as a pleasant surprise! Although the apartment we stayed in was quite basic, it had a kettle, toaster, a huge fridge/freezer, microwave oven, and pots and pans to last you a lifetime! The toilet worked, and the shower had sufficient hot water! Barbados is very close to various nightly activities, so you don't really need to use a lot on taxis! The staff were the best, being friendly and patient even we had a bit too much to drink! Our balcony was a bit on the small side, but did not ruin our stay at all! Value for money? You bet! Will definately stay at the Barbados again.

barbados
17 September 2007
me and 3 more friends stayed here from the 8th-15th sept 07 we paid 45 quid each so didnt expect alot but the room was fine, clean and spacious and there wasnt one cockroach in sight,(balcony a bit small)the pool could be a bit cleaner and when u jump in u turn into an ice cube cos its that cold apart from that that these apartmets are very good for the price, its smack in the middle of everything and just across the road from the yumbo centre, the only problem we had was at the end of our stay,we wanted to keep our room on because we wernt leaving until 11.30pm but the manager said the hotel was full and to make it worse there wasn't a courtesy room available for us to shower and get dressed so i would advise u 2 book an extra night if uv got a late departure, one more thing there are two pools and if u prefer it a bit quieter then go for the one without the pool bar as this one can be quite lively.

Barbados - the perfect choice!!!
10 September 2007
We booked this hotel through Alpharooms for a BARGAINOUS £60 each! so we werent expecting much! I have to say the Barbados was fantastic! The rooms were so clean and kept to a really high standard! we even had a microwave in the kitchen which is virtually never heard of when your staying in a s/c apartment in the med! The only downside was, at times, the drains in the bathrooms smelt a bit (but it was never unbearable). For 2 euros you could have 2 hours of sky tv (we watched a couple of films which was great for the night that we just couldnt handle anymore alcohol). We were a group of 5 party hard young adults and it was perfect for us. H at the pool bar is great fun and put all our music on for us. The only downside we felt was that the pool bar should have been opened later as it would have been nice to have a drink at the bar before we headed out (but we guessed this was due to staff shortage). All in all the Barbados is a fantastic choice and we couldnt speak any higher of it!!!!

Barbados 1 apartments
08 May 2007
Got back yesterday. Second stay and and again excellent. Clean and very good value for a 2 bed apartment. I asked at reception for Barbados 1 as that pool doesnt have the bar and the music so tends to be quieter although both pools and sunbathing areas are identical so you can walk round to which u prefer. Another good feature is no rooms are on the ground floor so everyone has a balcony no terraces. The apartments are extremely safe as the only way into the apartments is through reception so much better than some apartments near the Kasbah.
The apartments attract old young gay straight and always sunbeds available. They apartments are basic - no kettle or toaster but its right near the Yumbo and restaurants and all you need. I recommend Tobys Bar on the walk to beach for great food and service, in a different league to the Yumbo restaurants. The cheapest duty free shop is Rui in Yumbo.. cheaper than Europa and Funds Grubbe for your perfumes. Will book to stay here again and use the alpharooms connection as its 35 euros in a taxi so a bit expensive if only 2 of you sharing.

We have been to gran canaria regularly and stayed at other appartments. following a recommendation from a friend we decided to stay at the Barbados. We were pleasently surprised at the high standard of the complex. we stayed at barbados2. on arrival we were greeted by the receptionist who made us feel welcome our room which acomadted 5 adults was fantastic. there was sufficient room in each bedroom and the sofa bed was very comfortable. all appartments have a good sized balcony which over looks the pool. our rooms were cleaned regularly. the Barbados restaraunt is escellent value for money we would recommend it.the staff at the poolside bar again were very warm and made you feel welcome. these appartments are idealy situiated for the beach and the Jumbo centre. value for money? this was superb value for money we expected something less basic due to the cheapness of the appartment. but we were very surprised at the standards. we arranged our transfers from the airport through Alpharooms which was good value and reliable. wether you are a young or mature group the Barbados will be ideal.

Apartment clean and tidy on arrival.Very basic except for Fridge Freezer. The Freezer was big enough to hold 4 big bags of ice, just what you need on holiday. No safe in the room only in reception. The safe was too small for 3 adults.Easy walking distance to the Yumbo Centre for great gay bars and clubs.Resturants you must try are Merlin(spanish&french)Milano(italian food).I would definitly stay there again and recommend it to friends.

The apartments were very clean on arrival, there were 5 adults in our appartment and we thought that the apartment was about the right size to accomodate us all. We enjoyed the facilities at the pool in section 2 of the hotel and section 1 was great if you wanted a bit of piece and quiet. The cleaners were off on a Sunday and Wednesday which was fine. The sheets were changed regularly and towels daily. There were plenty of facilities located in and around the complex eg supermarket, tabaconist, british bars, etc. The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the Yumbo centre with lots of nightlife aimed at the gay comunity. I would definately return to this complex again.

Got back from the Barbados on Tuesday it was brilliant, the apartments are nice with plenty of space, the pool is good too. Reception are ok one receptionist called Ricardo was very arrogant and talked down to us and was not helpful. Also it is mad your not allowed to take balls etc in the pool. Bars around hotel are excellent especially Randy Leprechaun, Irish Centre is 5 minutes taxi ride away and is a really good laugh. I would definetly recommend The Barbados.

Three of us stayed at the Barbados 1 back in May 2006, we went over for the pride week. We found the Barbados very clean and the staff very friendly. It was very central and close to the Yumbo Center, the bus stand nearby for trips to any other parts of the island, we got the bus to Peuto Rico for about 7 euros the a short boat ride to Peuto Magan, both places highly recomended. I would say the Barbados Apartments should certanly be rated higher than a 2 star. We are in the process of booking again for next year.

Just got back from Gran canaria from Playa Des Ingles yesterday and adjusting back to London dry wet weather, must say the holiday was wicked 10/10! Especially for a last minute deal i found a proper bargain. Upon arrival in Barbados apartments we was greeted with warm welcome from the receptionists, which were all very helpful and made our stay enjoyable. The apartments itself were very standard, although the photos does not do it justice but i must say for a cheap accomdation it did the job, also maids came in 5 days a week to clean the beds. Despite everything only problem we had on our stay was the bathroom, on arrival it had a funny horrible smell however, the smell disappered evenutually and our toilet blocked which was immediately resolved at the reception. The apartments each have a fantastic view overlooking the pool and nearby was bar with drinks and food were being served. Barbados was situated in a quiet area, although the main lively Yumbo and Kasbah centres were within walking distance which provided all sorts of entertainment. The Maspolomas sand dunes are only a 10 min taxi ride away for a small 3 euros which one word to describe Paradise. GRan Canaria is sucha a beautiful place, met alot of friendly down to earth people, my holiday was short but sweet I would definitely go back there again! =D

Ther apartments were clean tidy and had sufficient room with a balcony overlooking the pool. The staff were exceptionally good being very courteous and efficient. Nothing was too much bother for them. The bar underneath the apartments i.e.The British Bulldog was brilliant~the stff great especially Louise,Alison and Erica and the entertainment run by Johnny was fantastic getting everyone involved from the most junior to most senior clientelle. Food great thanks Tony and Clive!!!!! Missing it greatly!!! We liked it so much that we are thinking of returning to the island of Gran Canaria. Thanks everyone for a wonderful time!!!!

Review of 'BARBADOS I & II'
16 April 2006
On arrival at the Barbados apartments we were given a warm and polite welcome by the reception staff. Our booking in procedure was efficient and speedy and we were soon settled into an apartment overlooking the pool in the Barbados 2 section of the complex. The apartment was not what you would call "plush", but it was comfortable, clean and contained all the facilities we needed for a family with two girls in their late teens. Safe deposit boxes were available for a small charge and these were situated within the main reception along with facilities for internet access. Ramps were evident allowing disabled access to the reception area and pool. The pool area was neat, well maintained and surrounded by a patio and lawn area with plenty of free sunbeds. It was the hotel's policy not to reserve sunbeds and this seemed to be respected by the guests. A pleasant change to be able to go down to the pool area at any time of day and not be met by a sea of towels on unoccupied loungers. There was a pool bar which served drinks and snacks. The menu was not extensive, but the food was well prepared and presented. The apartment complex catered for a mix of ages so none of our party felt out of place. We cannot really fault the service provided by the apartment staff. We had a problem with one of the light fittings in the apartment while we were there and this was rectified within 15 minutes of it being reported to reception. The apartment was cleaned regularly five times per week and requests for extra bedding or towel changes were actioned quickly and in a friendly manner. The reception staff were always willing to give advice about local transport or provide information about facilities in the local area. The Barbados is situated within walking distance of the main shopping and entertainment centres in Playa, far enough not to be disturbing but close enough to be convenient. Fronting the apartments were a range of small restaurants catering for a wide range of tastes (including British, Italian and Chinese), a Bank with an ATM and a couple of supermarkets, all of which we found very handy. There was a taxi rank adjacent to the apartment with fares to the beach costing around 3 euros if you didnt care to walk. Would we recommend the apartment to our friends and go again? Definitely. We thought it offered goo

We stayed at the Barbados Apartments in October 2004. The rooms where basic but clean and overlooked the pool. The staff where friendly. The Yumbo Centre was just around the corner, and the bus stop was just over the road. We had a nice walk to the 10 pin bowling alley and the water park is within walking distance as well. There are two pools at the Barbados -one at each side, but only one has a pool bar with snacks. There are lots of really nice places to eat on the same street as the Barbados, but if you want real value for money visit the Las Camelias just down the road where adults eat for 8,95 Euros/children 4,50 Euros. It's a gran buffet universal, and you can eat as much as you like, great for children and adults alike. The taxis are cheap which we got to the beach, it's a nice walk but hey we were on holiday!! The only thing that I thought strange was that no childrens water toys where allowed in the pools!!!!!! and one thing I didn't like was the safes where in reception and were only small. All in all a great place to put your head down and enjoy your hoiday.
