Hotel Batum, Albufeira
13 May 2008
On the positive side, this hotel was a good value for money, in a brilliant location - very close to the beach and all the bars and restaurants, the staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. As for the negatives, our room and the bathroom were tiny and there was a very bad smell of sewage overnight in the bathroom. Also the breakfast was disappointing: 2 bread rolls/each, one type of cheese and processed ham, jam and cornflakes everyday, nothing else. Overall it was fine but we would not stay again.

On arrival at airport was aware of location so expected to pay 40-50 euros for transfer but much cheaper to arrange transport with the hotel as the return journey to the airport was only 27euros. The location of the hotel is just brilliant just a short walk to the beach if you forget anything its literally just 2 mins! Didnt miss not having a pool because the beach is so nice and clean. There are bars and restaurants for all age groups just a minute away so convenient at the end of the night. I can't fault the hotel after paying £60 for a double room for 3 nights expected basis accommodation but this hotel is easily a 3 star hotel and far from basic. I will definately go back to this hotel.

Dont eat there!!!!
27 April 2008
The hotel is very clean and the staff friendly. The only downfall which we found was the evening meal. (half board) Very small portions and not a lot of choice. The menu was the same soup every night either tom or veg. One meat dish or one fish dish.served up usually cold,we had to send it back to be reheated quite a few times. Unlike the dessert which was given to us frozen one evening, and was then asked if we would like to wait for it to defrost. However there are plenty of good restaurants very near by. We would go back to the hotel but not half board!!!!

Baltum Hotel, Albufeira
25 March 2008
Good quality hotel room for the price (less than 21 € for one person). The hotel is situated just in the centre of the town, close to bars and nice restaurants, and especially close to the beach. The hotel is clean, staff very friendly and helpful, the room small, with aircondition, small TV, nice bathroom with a bath tube and shower. Cleaned every day properly. The only disadvantage was that (maybe because of the wet weather) the condensation in the bathroom was bad smelling sometimes. In general the hotel and the accommodation was very comfortable, so surely would like to go back soon.

Review of 'Baltum'
12 October 2006
Value for money could not have been better - a ridiculously low price. The hotel was spotlessly clean as was our room throughout the stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We just could not have had a better stay and intend to return. A few yards to the beach, a few yards to shops, restaurants, bars, everything plus if you wanted to you could go out on your balcony and enjoy the atmosphere from there. Breakfast was pretty basic and the same everyday - rolls, ham cheese and jam but it was OK to give you a start to the day and if you wanted a full English there were loads of places where you could buy one for a couple of quid upwards. It could be quite noisy in the early hours but we had no problems sleeping and I feel that this added to our enjoyment being at the centre of things. To top it all virtually 9 days of solid sunshine - No you couldn't beat it.

at less than €25 a night for a couple this is excellent value(if however you pay the full €50 probably not). small hotel situated right near the centre of albuferia old town. right next door to a police station so things never get too noisy at night. accommodation consisted of twin beds and bathroom with a small balcony. towels etc changed daily, bed linen weekly.
rooms are air conditioned which is controlled locally with a remote control, however this cannot be left on all day as the electricity supply to the room is switched off when you remove your key from the slot provided by the door. bathroom small 1/2 to 3/4 size bath with shower, toilet and bidet. very cramped but serves its function. shower head has no fixing so has to be hand held . strangely tho' the towel rail is about 2 metre high! so is the rail inside the wardrobe. looks like they expect very tall very skinny people. there is a tv with a hit and miss selection of tv. cnn some Portuguese some german. a nice thing was the flooring is wooden so not slippery ,dropped things didn't immediately smash to pieces. room is on bed and breakfast basis. breakfast is very disappointing. not because it is continental . roll ham, cheese, some muesli . but the fruit juice was obviously watered down. and the coffee( bearing in mind coffee in bars is some of the best) was absolutely disgusting.not worth getting up for i'd say. but on a budget or just purely for location i'd recommend it any time

This was an excellent budget hotel and spotlessly clean. Also in middle of entertainment area and a short walk to the beach. Excellent.

Simply the best 2 star hotel that money can pay for. Staff were all very friendly and it was exceptional value for money. Rooms were clean, bright and had all necessary appliances...inlcuding air con in every room. Even the beds were comfortable!
Location is everything and the Baltum is perfect for the beach and the restaurants/bars of the Old Town of Albufeira. The "Strip" is a short taxi journey away but it would be a wasted trip as the Old Town should cover all needs.
Would definitely go back
