Nice but can be Noisey!!
31 August 2008
We have just returned from a weeks stay at this Hotel and after being invited by Alpharooms for a review here goes. We picked the S`anfora & Fleming, because of its location, close to the bay (Bay beach about 10 min walk and about 15-20 mins to San Antonio at a leisurely pace).
Although a mature couple we enjoy the buzz of a lively resort, although not the noise of party revellers all night long, so the hotel position seemed spot on.
The surrounding area is typically populated with holiday accommodation/snack bars/supermarkets etc but no bars or clubs which are to be found on the beach promenade and San Antonio's West End.
The Good
We have to say for a 2 Star hotel or actually as the owners describe it a Hostal, the overall cleaniness and ambience was very nice. All the staff we met were helpful and courteous.
There was plenty of seating available in the bar, lounge and dining areas which were fully air conditioned both day and night. Speaking of the Bar, typical drink prices at time of writing were about the same as the UK, eg Pint of San Miguel lager 2.9 euros, large glass of wine 4 euros.
The continental breakfast was offered a reasonable choice of cereals, cold meats, fruit, bread rolls etc.
The bedrooms although basic, were clean and comfortable, with en-suite, no double glazing though. The air conditioning was superb, available day and night at no extra charge. A simple wall on off switch also made it very easy to control.
The rooms were cleaned every day, with clean towels etc replaced.
The Bad
Dispite specifying a quiet part of the Hotel with a pool view, on arriving we recieved neither, although to be fair this was partly remedied when another room became available the next day - no pool view though. Oh one more thing all rooms are twin beds!
There are about 16 rooms directly on the main road, the first room we had was one them - very disruptive if you are not used to it.
The hotel does attract groups of single sex parties, probably because its cheaper on the outskirts than in the popular West End of San Antonio. In the main this was no problem, but with some clubs closing at 6am be prepared for some disturbance.
Finally the pool and pool area is very small for the size of the hotel, with guests when we were staying out numbering sun loungers, fortunately the lovely beach isnt that far away so we went there instead.
Would we stay again definitely, but we would avoid the clubbing season next time.
