Family Get together.
01 November 2008
A family Group-5 children from age 5 to 13, plus 8 adults from age 17 to 66. We had 5 rooms on the 1st Floor, facing the pool. The Hotel managed to allocated us adjoining rooms. The range of food (buffet style) was excellent both for breakfast and evening meals. The hotel was busy when we were there so mealtimes tended to be a bit noisy. Rooms were fine with all facilities and a balcony. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Entertainment most evenings. This Hotel is excellent for family Groups but may not be so relaxing for people looking for a quieter life! The Hotel is next to the beach (not private) and means just crossing a footpath-no roads to cross. Parking can be a problem as there is only street parking available.
A good all round hotel, excellent value for money paid. would definitely go back again.

Good
26 May 2007
the augustus was extemely clean - facilities were good, pool tables and internet, bar and pools. Being almost on the beach was fantastic. Maid service was every day. Most staff were lovely. Location was great - just outside salou - regular bus to cambrils or salou - bus stop right outside hotel.
food - was average - not much variety - catering more for a european taste.
We went early season and were the only english speaking guests in the hotel - so i think the food and entertainment was geared towards spanish and dutch holiday makers.
Overall we had a good time and the hotel was great value for money.

The hotel was in a great location, it was very clean both in the rooms and the lobby area.
The rooms were cleaned daily and the staff were always pleasant.
the only drawback was the food. The variety was very poor and the layout of the buffet could have been much better. However given the price we paid for the accommodation we were satisfied with the value for money.

We enjoyed our holiday at the Augustus and would have liked to stay longer than planned. On arrival we were disappointed as lobby and entrance need upgrading and painting. Food only adequate. Restaurant Cafe De Paris across road was excellent. Our room was lovely and clean. Maid service was excellent. Staff were reponsive. Children had benefit of animation and we enjoyed the entertainment provided. Hotel is directly by a lovely beach. Cambrils old village circa 3 miles away is lovely with nice fish restaurants. Enjoy!

Review of 'AUGUSTUS'

The hotel was below what one would expect, even of a 3*.
No parking anywhere near the hotel, nearest free parking was 5 minutes walk.A busy main road and tacky shops along he way. This hotel is not in Cambrils,it is really on the edge of Salou. The centre of Cambrils is about 3 miles away!
The hotel rooms were clean and the maid service was efficient.
Kids running amok and the pool was full of teenagers with no control by the attendants whatsoever.
The eating arrangments were a nightmare,it was like a school canteen and feeding time at the zoo. There was no service at all.Queues for everything, 5 minutes to warm up your bread!.
The food ran out and what there was was poor quality and often once the tray was empty it was not replaced but not to worry as we saw waitresses saving uneaten food obviously to be re served later.(particularly fruit and bread rolls)
The bar area was a playground and the noise was deafening with arcade games and air hockey machines everywhere.
Entertainment was poor and repetative.
Not recommended if you are looking for a reasonably priced place to take the kids.
