The Athenaeum is excellently situated close to Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus and the West End, while the nearest underground station, Green Park, is just one hundred metres away. The hotel was built in 1925, andl boasts numerous amenities including a twenty-four hour reception, luggage storage and a currency exchange desk. In addition to this, the hotel offers lifts, a café, a bar and an air-conditioned à la carte restaurant, as well as a conference room and internet access. Refreshing drinks are on offer in the lounge on a daily basis. Guests may also take advantage of the room and laundry service provided. The Athenaeum has long been a favourite with Hollywood film stars and celebrities throughout its existance, often linked to author Oscar Wilde in its heyday.

I found this hotel to be very average. The service was fine and we were kindly upgraded to an Executive room. The room was OK if not really befitting of a 5* hotel and made me wonder what a Standard room would be like. It was clean however, if a little dated in it's decor. One word of warning, the hotel bar prices were extautionate. £28 for 2 doube JD and Cokes! 5* price with 3.5* accomodation. To sumarise, you'd be better off elsewhere.
