Excellent place to stay for a group of friends if you're just looking for a place to rest your head. Apartment is cheap as chips and only worked out at under a fiver each per night. Apartment consisted of four single beds and a sofa bed. We also had a large corner balcony that went right round the apartment. Only other amenity we needed was fridge. Not worried about the absence of a kettle or toaster as plenty of cheap places to eat or drink within the immediate vicinity. No maid service was a bonus as we didn't really want to be disturbed a couple of hours after we came in for the night. If you don't know where to get they key then just ask Billy at the bar underneath the hotel. He'll take you there and sort everything out for you.

before you go check where to collect keys, no reception so keys have to be collected in another hotel, bit of a treasure hunt. have 60 euro with you for deposit. rooms ok. not that you should be spending much time in them. we had two rooms. some have great views over the sea. close to bars and beach. ideal for bunch lads or girls, not great for a family. spend a bit more and get somewhere the kids will like.

On arrival at this Apartment Block the Reception was closed therefore we had no idea where to collect our keys.Fortunately a local waiter suggested the Catolonia Gardens. The apartment was described as complete with Bar which there was none. The room was spacious and clean on arrival, but there was no maid service or change of towels. The lifegaurd was obnoxious to Foreigners. On one evening myself and son were talking on the balcony and were ordered off the balcony by the security guard. Two evenings later the same security guard accosted my wife and two young children while leaving the lifts to return to the apartment. He launched a barrage of swear words at them.If it had not been for the ability to use the facilities at the Catalonia gardens Our holiday would have been ruined.

The rooms were adequate in size however amenities in our room were poor - the oven was dangerous in it's location and very out of date, there was no bar or cafe on site. We were not informed of the need to collect keys from elsewhere - lucky we arrived in the day time. Also not informed of the need to leave a 60 euro deposit only payable by cash or that every extra was charged for i.e. kettle, Toaster etc. (also not informed about.).
The pool was lovely and clean with a lifeguard present at all times.
The apartments were quite well located and we still had a nice holiday.

Just got back from 10 days at Atalaya, Sept 05!...Apartments clean & Basic, but spacious and good value for the money!... No bar or pool bar, entertainment, and a little noisy from the street bars below...but hey thats Salou. No reception on site! These are residential apartments, so strict rule around the pool, no food or glasses bottles by pool, no lilos, inflatables or balls in allowed in water. They have a vigilant and active pool attendant/guard!...but its not that bad and pool very clean.
Ideally situated right on the edge of the town night life. Rooms had washing machine, good size balcony and basic cooking facilities. Air con is a must have - pay forty pounds/sixty Euros refundable deposit (The norm). Airport bus picks up and drops off right at apartment doors - 9 Euros return.
You have to collect the keys from the reception 100 meters down the hill - same side as apartments - near side of international II hotel!...Would go again for a good basic holiday.

Excellent location for all the Bars/Restaurants and Shops. Porta Aventura Bus stops just outside on side street. But I think we must have stayed in the same room as Sue from L/pool as our boiler also leaked constantly not enough hot water for 5 people to have even a 30 sec. shower - no linen change for the whole 10 days we were there for. Ate out every day and night as cooking facilities weren't up to much. We were left with a dolls tea set!! In the apt. couldn't even have a cup of tea or coffee so ended up buying our own cups and dishes. No idea where to get keys from. We arr. at 10:45am and got help from a waiter who took me down to the Catalunya to get keys. But had to wait for 3 hours only to be given 1 key. Was almost locked out of apt. block as we only had key to the apt. (it was only because we were with friends who had a key to the block). We complained the following morning and were then given 3 keys. No Bar or Restaurant as advertised although there are many right outside. Pool Attendant very strict with the few British who were there (no eating/ball games/lilos) yet let the locals do what they wanted. No public toilets so had to keep going to apt. (on 4th floor!!!). It was our 1st visit to Salou & would def. come back again but never to these apts. - they are no way suitable for families with young children and you should also state clearly that there is no reception in these apts. everything is done through the Catalunya Hotel further down the road.

Apartments are in a good location for bars, shopping and the beach and are nicely situated around the pool, which is quite large and clean. Atalaya is somewhere adequate to sleep and relax or to swim but does not provide a restaurant or bar, so should not be advertised as including both! We ate out all of the time at some reasonably priced local restaurants / bars, which served good food. Major concern was that the reception that is advertised as 24hrs was closed from about 6pm onward, so when we arrived at 6.30pm we had no idea how to collect our apt. keys, tried to telephone local agent contact number but this number was unobtainable! Luckily a local waiter who we spoke to informed us that we could book in and collect keys from another hotel ( Ibersol ), which is situated 50 metres down the road, behind the Catalunya 92 shop. Why were we not informed of this when booking? Entertainment could be found elsewhere, at clubs, bars or other hotels! Beaches nice and Porta Ventura theme park also good. Salou is a decent place for a weeks holiday but would have struggled to find thing to do for longer.

The apt was in a good location and a decent size - sheets were not changed all week and we had to ask for clean towels. the boiler leaked soaking the bed and the shower was broken - self catering provisions were inadequate so we ate out all the time bumping up costs. There was no bar or restaurant at the apt as advertised and the pool although very nice was full of spanish residents and no balls/games allowed. No English to mix with and no entertainment - our 2 teenagers and 10 year old were bored to tears.Key collection on arrival not made clear - car parking available but at £5 a day and parking on the road was virtually impossible - not suitable for families - we would not return here as we had a really disappointing holiday.

Hotel was in an ideal location, not very far from Cambrils beach or the main street of bars, restaurants and shops. However the room was absolutely filthy - dirty walls, dirty bathroom and kitchen. We didnt even want to risk using the kitchen utensils and the glasses and so had to buy plastic cups to drink from! When we arrived the bed sheets hadnt even been changed i.e. were dirty and smelt! After complaining at the reception, a maid came and put a pile of clean sheets and towels on the bed - so we could change them ourselves! Was not at all satisfied with the room standard. However ideal location and the pool was lovely!
