Review of 'ASTORIA'

The Astoria is very a short walk from the Renfe train station.
After arriving from San Francisco, we found the Astoria to be a very comfortable and quiet small hotel. Our room was on the smaller side but it was so well laid out that we were never in one another's way. The bathroom was very stylish and new with a Jacuzzi bath tub.
The breakfast buffet offered excellent quality and a moderate selection of foods. There is no reason for anyone to leave breakfast hungry!
The staff was very courteous and helpful.
We would stay again at the Astoria without a second thought.

We have used this hotel before and find it very convenient, being only a few yards from the railway which brings you to Malaga Centre from the airport. It is also close to the historic town centre, within walking distance (or one stop on the railway) of the RENFE railway and the bus stations. Rooms are comfortable though at this time of year (March) we find a room at the back advisable - no view but those at the front get too hot and as it is still winter the air conditioning isn't functioning. We stayed room only so can't comment on the food - there is plenty of choice of eating places/bars close by.

Right in the city near the parks which made for good walking tours. Very clean, quiet, not large rooms but plenty good enough. We had been traveling Spain for a week and stayed in houses with no heat. The best part here was a nice jetted tube and unlimited hot water. So good. Also clear and correct instructions on how to get to the airport. I like it when things work as presented.

Review of 'ASTORIA' The UK needs an Astoria
30 December 2005
Alpharooms have found a winner in the Astoria in Malaga. At around £43, we expected cheap and cheerful (if we struck lucky). We got willing, well informed staff, a largish, luxury bathroom and smallish but stylish room, both exceedingly well equipped, as well as the most central of locations - shop till you drop in El Cortes Ingles across the road, browse the mile of craft stalls ten minutes walk from the hotel and travel to the airport from the RENFE station almost next door to the hotel. The rail station for Cordoba, Seville and other major cities is walkable as is the bus station which has fast transport to Granada and Ronda. This is the best value room we have had in a European city.

Review of 'ASTORIA' Malaga
25 November 2005
This is our first experience of using Alpharooms and it definitely won't be the last! Their price was extremely competitive and their administration most efficient. The Astoria Hotel Malaga is well located for the city centre and literally two minutes walk from the train station. On arrival at 11.00 am, although our room was not immediately ready, it took only five minutes before we were able to take up occupancy. The staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful indeed. Our room had a fridge, safe, telephone, and hairdryer, the beds were comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. A very definite yes for a return visit!

Excellent, clean quality hotel in central location, 2 mins walk from the Electric Train service (trains every half hour to Malaga Airport 15 mins journey for 1 Euro 10 cents) and 15 mins walk from Renfe station and Bus Station. Easy, pleasant walk down wide boulevards into old area of Malaga with Picasso's Museum, Cathedral etc and a 20 mins tree lined walk to the beach promenade. Rooms double glazed so though beside main roads you hear very little noise. Air conditioning very welcome and minibar in room reasonably priced. Room furnishings quality wood and bathroom fitted with spa style bath. We chose a room only tariff as used Malaga as a base to travel to Seville, Ronda etc on day trip but had breakfast one morning in the hotel - excellent value buffet style breakfast with plenty of fresh juices, fruits, crusty bread, meats, cheeses, coffee or tea for 9 Euros. Check out time is reasonable at 12 and we gained entry to our room at 1 on day of arrival. Excellent hotel in great location for those looking for a city break (rather than a beach based holiday).

I visit Malaga City several times a year and have returned to this hotel for the past few years. I have stayed here with both my friends and husband. The location of the hotel is excellent not too far from anything - beach, shopping, restaurants and bars etc. The rooms are very clean and a decent size and reasonably priced for the city.
The staff are really helpful - they supply you with maps of the city pointing out the places to go and how to get there.
Malaga is a fantastic city and staying at the Astoria is a perfect hotel to stay whilst visiting.

Review of 'ASTORIA'

Thoroughly enjoyable hotel stay at The Astoria in Malaga, the staff were attentive & professional in the way they carried out the process of my 'checking in'. The hotel booking was made via the internet & a room was made available despite me checking in at 11am approximately. I could not speak Spanish but that did not pose a problem, with all members of staff able to speak English. They were able to help me hire a car from a local supplier without any delay or confusion that usually occurs when a third party is involved. I have got the utmost respect for the hotel staff at the Astoria who I felt conducted themselves in a thoroughly professional manner being both courteous & efficient during my stay in July 2005. If only other hotel staff at other hotels adopted a similar standard. The hotel is located next to the railway station, which in turn runs to the airport, so there were no problems locating the hotel. The costs where reasonable considering the standard of the room made available for my stay.
I have no doubts about recommending this hotel group & especially the Astoria hotel located in Malaga to other travellers, either for business or for leisure purposes. As a frequent flyer and user of hotels throughout the world, I intend to use this hotel group wherever possible in the future.
