The Hotel aston is very easy to find being only a short 5 minute walk from the metro at hospital clinic line 5 which connects nicely with the RENFE train to and from the airport, making it ideally located. On arrival at the hotel we were speedily dealt with by the receptionist, who spoke beter English than our Spanish. We were given a room on the 4th floor at the front of the hotel overlooking the main road. Traffic noise was evident in the room but not overly opressive. The interesting feature was the air conditioning, which had obviously not been on as the room temperature was equal to the outside 29 degrees. A visit to reception and within 5 minutes the air conditioning was switched on. it is controlled not from the room itself, but by reception and you have to ask for it to be turned on in the room. We went out for the day and as we left the hotel, they switched it off allowing the room to heat again. When we returend and asked for it to be turned on again, we were told we could only have it on for 15 minutes maximum.
The room was spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom, clean linen was provided every day.
The breakfast was serveddownstairs and offered a good selection of freshly prepared food and was available until 11.00, which we considered to be very generous.
The rooftop pool sauna and hot tub were a bonus, again being clean and well maintained and offering a panoramic view over Barcelona at the end or beginning of a days sight seeing.
Walking presented no problems, the harbour and all main attractions were within easy walking distance. For anyone not wanting to walk the metro allows cost effective links to everywhere you want to be.
I would certainly stay there again even with the contrived air conditioning. Good value for money
