Enjoyable stay

H. Perry's review covers most of the main aspects of this hotel. The staff are helpful, but remember the Greeks can be very direct in their manner at times. As soon as we entered the door we were told to 'sit down over there and I will call you when ready' so that the reception guy could check in another couple and then call us over when ready. Sometimes a simple please/thank you goes a long way. However, once at the counter the person was very helpful, had a good sense of humour and you soon realise...it is just the Greek way. The room was basic with average decor. However, this is a budget hotel and what it does offer for the money is exceptional...a double room at not much more than the cost of two people staying in separate dorms in a youth hostel! It can't really be faulted. Good continental style breakfast, free internet access, comfortable beds, TV in room and air conditioning. The area the hotel is in is reasonable. There are much nicer locations, but it is quite convenient. Some of the slightly more expensive hotels were within a stone's throw of this hotel. We also found some nice places to eat within 3 minutes walk away. I think this hotel represents excellent value for money. We stayed two nights and did two tours. It was a cheap and cheerful place to stay. It is great for a quick passing through or very short stop. However, if I was planning to return to Athens for a longer period, say 5 or 6 days, then I would probably opt for a sea front hotel, as I was told a tram heads from the sea front to central Athens for 50 cents! You've then got the sea (the coastline around Athens (esp slightly to the East is lovely), nice restaurants, and easy access to central Athens. Tours will also collect you from coastal hotels. The reason I recommend the coast is that Athens city did not provide the charm I thought it might when compared to many other cities and therefore although an enjoyable place to visit the attractions etc, not a lot is to be gained by staying centrally given the traffic, noise etc. Hope that helps. In respect of this hotel, I highly recommend it to budget travellers and hostellers. Can't fault it for the money!

Review of 'Aristoteles'

Very friendly hotel, within walking distance of main locations in Athens, such as Omonoia Square and the National Archaeological Museum. Reception is available 24 hours, and staff always have a smile and a cheerful word, even into the wee, small hours of the morning! My room was comfortable and spacious.

A substantial breakfast is included: this comprises bread, jam, boiled egg, cheese, slice of ham, cereal, piece of cake, coffee, orange juice drink.

Good value for money. Does exactly what it says on the tin. And they don't charge the earth for a single room like some places do. I would definitely stay there again.
