Arenal Playa

We've stayed at the Arepar apartments a couple of times over the last five years and are going back again this year. The complex is small and has a very family atmosphere.

The restaurant is great for the kids, with basic but good quality food. TIP: stay with bottled beer as the draught is London prices!

The apartments themselves are basic, with one bedroom having bunk beds (no ladder, but OK for kids over three I would think)

There is minimal entertainment at Arepar, but it is reight next to a larger complex with plenty of entertainment for kids and adults. It is nice to get back to the quiet of Arepar to chill out at the end of the night.

In all Arepar is a good base for the Arenal resort. Highly recommended.

Family with Children 11 and Under

The Arenal Playa Apartments are simply lovely.  Just like little villas and typically spanish but with all amenities.

Lovely small pool with a baby pool and lovely surrounding gardens.  

The apartments are situated in a really quiet part of the island but the beach is only a few minutes walk away.  There is a supermarket opposite the apartments and a pizza restaurant that is reasonable with good food.  

The bars and shops are also within walking distance, about 10 minutes walk and there are a couple of hotels that have good evening entertainment but you must visit the Irish Bar, fantastic entertainment and very friendly.

It is advisable to hire a car if you are staying here unless like ourselves you just want a very relaxing holiday.

It was very quiet because it was coming to the end of the season and bars and shops around were starting to shut down for the winter but I would highly recommend staying at the Arenal Play apartments.
