Overnight in Barcelona

23 July 2009
We stayed one night, post cruise, in these apartments. It was an excellent choice - clean, modern and well managed. We were too early to check in but our bags were safely locked away for us, to allow us to head out for the day. The apartments are barely 5 minutes walk from the Segrada Familia, and since we were there so early we were able to enjoy looking round before the crowds arrived. The whole area around here feels very residential and safe, and there are lots of places to eat. You could probably walk to the Ramblas area - but why bother? We walked instead towards the Arc de Triumph and a beautiful park and boulevard, ending up close to the Olympic village, where we took the metro back to the apartment. Our only slight disappointment with the apartment was that our anticipated view of the cathedral wasn't there! Instead we had an "interior" view into a courtyard surrounded by other apartment buildings. At first this was disappointing, but after sitting out on our balcony sipping a glass of wine and eating some olives for an hour or two, we realised that it was much better to be there than to be over the busy street in front! It would have been good to have some furniture on the balcony, but we simply carried a couple of the dining chairs out instead. In the morning we walked a couple of minutes to a lovely cafe/bakery where we had coffee, freshly squeezed o.j. and delicious fresh pastries for breakfast. On our return our taxi - which we had asked reception to order for us - was waiting, and we headed off the the airport. We would definitely consider using these apartments again - especially if we were in Barcelona for a few days. It seemed a bit of a waste to be only using the accommodation for one night! There was everything we needed - including a very large fridge/freezer and a dishwasher - and overall it was an excellent choice.

I would highly recommend these apartments to anyone. They were excellent, very clean, beds were very comfy, and working air conditioning. Location near the fantastic Sagrada Familie.. For short stays I would highly recommend the open top bus tour.. you can see loads of Barcelona without your poor feet hurting you! I would return to these apartments next time I visited 10 out of 10

Great Choice

Fab location, a minute from the amazing Sagrada Familie!! Spacious residential sized apartments. They were clean, air con (a must have) and surprisingly no noise so good nights sleep after all that sight seeing. Would return here without any doubt. The metro is a few minutes so you can transfer to airport by train which is much cheaper option.

The Marina apartments are brilliant the location, cleaniness, facitilities & staff 1st class would go back tomorrow if we could !!!! ps do look into getting a barcelona card if staying more than 2 nights as it can save pounds on public transport and entry fees on lots of sights etc buy on line and pick up at the airport at info desk after customs easy and use it on the train to get into the city saving money straight away !

Review of 'APARTMENTS MARINA'

Apartments Marina surprised us with the quality and spaciousness of the accommodation. For the same average price as a hotel room for our family, we got to enjoy a full living/dining room, 2 separate bedrooms, a bathroom and quite a large kitchen with all appliances, incl. a dishwasher! The rooms were even cleaned and the dishwasher filled with detergent and turned on for us every day. Staff was extremely friendly, well informed, and good with kids. Very convenient supermarket a few steps away. Within spitting distance of the Sagrada Familia, the nearby park with playground, and all sorts of transport options.
Oh, that Apartments Marina could become the standard of self-catering accommodation around the world!

Review of 'APARTMENTS MARINA'

Well if I could give more than 5 stars I would. Talk about a little gem. The apartment couldn't be more central without actually being on the [much over-rated] Ramblas. Less than 1 minute from the Blue Line on the Metro which brought us to Diagonal in 2 stops. The apartment itself was superb. Very large living room with huge balcony, big kitchen [with a dishwasher even!] and a full sized fridge-freezer. 1 large double bedroom and 1 standard single room, with a more than adequate bathroom. At this price, in this very expensive city, it was a real bargain. The reception staff were very nice and friendly. Our apartment was at the back of the building, so no view of the Sagrada Familia, but then again, no traffic noise either. The apartments are fully accessible to wheelchair users too. The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels, and the cleaners ran the dishwasher for us each day. If you want to spend a fortune being in ripoff land close to the city centre, then book somewhere else. If you want what amounts to a luxury suite for peanuts then book here! I'll be back.

Wow - comfortable & spacious! Clean! Soundproofed! Lift. Top floor balcony views of Sagrada Familia. Tiled flrs cool for hot tired feet, big bedrooms & comfy beds ( gd nght's sleep!), proper kitchen (needs kettle), big dining table, relaxing sofa area, lovely calm deco-ish bathroom, nice lighting, good temp control ( but could do with fan alternative to a/c and bedside lamps).Away from clubby/bar noise, but only 10 mins by (cheap)taxi, 15 by metro (30 secs to Sagrada F. station) from old town, port, sea-side, Parc Guell, nightlife etc. Good walks down into town via "Modernisme" area (30 mins to Ramblas). Not too night time touristy so mainly locals in restaurants, bars, shops, & the small supermart on the corner. A problem (our fault) with entry key was quickly and totally sorted by friendly 24 hr concierge. Only caution: it is not for those looking for 'characterful' rental as quite bland, modern but well designed.

These apartments are fantastic value for money.  I have never stayed in such an immaculately clean apartment, with such great facilities for the money.
The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and our check-in was easy and problem free.  We had only booked a one-bedroom apartment but were allocated a huge two-bedroom apartment.
The location is good too, just a two minute walk to Sagrada Familia and the Metro station.
I would definitely recommend these apartments for young and old alike - you won't be disappointed.

Review of 'APARTMENTS MARINA'

The apartments are ideally suited for someone who requires some level of self catering. The "apartments marina" provided us with a two bedroom apartment with basic cooking facilities in a separate kitchen. Stick the pots and pans in the dish-washer and they are washed by the cleaning staff when you get back at the end of the day. The apartment is clean and well furnished without being luxurious. It is just round the corner from the temple of the sagrada familia and a short metro ride from the main tourist & shopping centres. If you are travelling by car there is a car park under the apartments, though the cost is 15€/day, but this is better than either trying to do battle with the spanish traffic or finding a parking place above ground which is nearly impossible. There is a small supermarket next to the apartment for basics, and the staff looking after the building are extremely friendly.

Review of 'APARTMENTS MARINA'

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Apartments Marina and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in Barcelona. With just a stones-throw from the breathtaking Sagrada Familia it is located in what I found to be an ideal part of the city to stay.
Metro services are nearby and with such a good service it does'nt take long to get to any part of the city.
The rooms are extremely well layed out and exceptionally clean! I could not fault the very well equipped apartment and found it most comfortable to spend time in. The air-conditioning was very relieving after a hot day exploring!
I could'nt believe how well the sound-proofed apartments shut out any noise from any traffic noise outside - as a light sleeper this was a big plus.
There is a supermarket right besides the apartments which was very convenient as it had very late opening hours.
All in all, Apartments Marina gives immaculate, tasteful modern accommodation which caters for all ages with all the amenities you could ever need in a super part of the city. On my next trip back to Barcelona I'll certainly be booking back into Apartments Marina.
