Ideal Hotel for a Trip to Prague
01 September 2008
Star Rating: 4 stars and I believe it lives up to this
Type of Hotel: Modern, contemporary, minimalist, clean, functional
Location: In Pragues District 5, just south of the main attractions. 20 minute walk (nice river walk), 5 minute tram.
Rooms: We were on the Club Floor in a standard room. Very nice room, comfy bed, basic sat TV, DVD player, comfy chair, air con, lovely bathroom, mini bar (Pricey!) and tea, coffee making facilities - all modern and all cleaned thorougly every day.
Food: The Buffet breakfast accommodates it's main customers of Japanese, Chinese, English, American, Italian so you can choose anything from fruit to bacon and eggs and Miso soup to Croisants. Very Good Choice. We never ate in the Brasserie or the Restaurant outside of these times because the food seemed expensive.
Outside the hotel: It's in Pragues business and entertainment area so you have plenty of restaurants both Czech and Continental (pizza, TGI Friday, Mexican, Chinese, KFC, McDonalds) You also have the Novy Schimov Shopping centre which house about 200 shops, cinema, bowling, food and a large tesco). There are plenty of bars around outside for that late night drink although none are rowdy.
Final comment. You are near enough the attractions to walk everywhere, you feel safe around the hotel because the area is modern and lively but not rowdy or noisy.
For a stay in prague - Choose this hotel - it has all you need for a great holiday. Alpha rooms were cheaper than Expedia by about £100 and sorted transfers out totally seamlessly.

Great Hotel!
15 August 2008
Great hotel, nice facilities in the room and hotel. Good choice for breakfast. Hotel is close to the trams and metro. Lovely restaurants around the hotel area that are cheaper than centre of prague. Will definately recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a visit to prague.

Lovely Hotel, ideally located
28 July 2008
When we arrived at 9 30 am in the morning after a long flight we were welcomed with a room up grade and immediate availability, the hotel is very nice, very clean, terrific rooms with all the trimings, buffet breakfast was great especially as my wife is a veggie, so she was well pleased. Location wise, absoutly great, nice 25 minute walk to the centre or an easy tram rides in 5 minutes. Metro and trams easy yto understand, good restaurants nearby, really good value on food and drink, we would highly recomend this hotel for your stay in Prague, we hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Its easy to see why people rave about this hotel. Clean, modern, great food and fantastic rates, 100m from the Metro, 3 stops from the centre of the old town. Would strongly recommend it.

Fantastic modern hotel, in a convenient location
17 February 2008
I took my boyfriend for a four night stay at this hotel, so I was hoping that it would be a little bit special - even though I was on a budget. I could not have asked for anything better. The hotel was modern, trendy, clean, minimalist...with some great extras, inclding a wonderful (free) tea/coffee machine outside of the room, bath robes, slippers, TV - with lots of free channels, a queen size bed - and a very modern, spacious bathroom. The hotel had the wow factor - and for such a good price. We were able to book a table at a restaurant in Bethlehem Square, via the helpful receptionists. We would recommend this restaurant (Klub Architectu) to others. We also found that the metro and the trams were within approx 2 mins from the hotel - and were very easy to use. We also ate near to the hotel on two occasions, and there was a lot of choice here also.
All in all- we both had a great time, the best value for money you will get for a short city break.
I will be booking with Alpha again - and trusting the reviews/comments from other guests - THANKS!

Good place to base yourself
02 January 2008
My husband and I have just returned from a 5 day stay at Andels in Prague. We had high expectations for the hotel having read many reviews.
The room was a little smaller that the photos suggest, but it was well decorated and modern. The bar downstairs is lovely - they make great cocktails and the staff are very friendly. It is just as easy to wander around the hotel and find restaurants and bars at better prices though - there is so much choice. Breakfast was great - one of the highlights, there is lots of choice and it is all well cooked. The room cleaning was a little unreliable, we were left to wash our own glasses, the sink was not cleaned and the sheets were not changed until we stripped the bed ourselves.
The location of the hotel is a real plus. You can walk into the centre very easily - along the river. Or you can catch a tram or take the metro. There is a big Tesco near the hotel, a huge shopping centre and a cinema which shows films in English - you have everything you need within a few metres. Prague itself is one of the most beautiful cities and you will be spoiled for choice. We would highly recommend Andels - and for a wonderful meal - U Maliru Restaurant
Mala Strana, Prague 1 - the service is outstanding and the food is amazing!

Lovely place lovely hotel
25 August 2007
Have just returned from Prague where my husband and I stayed for our wedding anniversary. We arrived at the Andels after a particularly quick transfer by a local company. It really is a fantastic hotel. The bathrooms are luxurious, and better than any we have stayed in before. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast starts at 6.30 and carried on until 10.30, which is excellent if you are not an early riser. I was apprehensive about staying a little outside of the main tourist area, knowing we would have to get to grips with the local transport system. However, we purchased our 3 day ticket to travel on buses, trams and metro from an English speaking lady at the Andels Metro station. From there it was easy. The metro near the hotel is ideal and it is so convenient to use the metro (and easy too). We will definitely be coming back to Prague because a short break is just not enough. Also, I am sure we will book to stay at the Andels again. Staff are great, especially the friendly bar staff. We ended the evening there with a cocktail every night, as the bar is open until 2am.

Have just come back from very enjoyable stay in Prague. Hotel very good, Reception staff extremly helpful, bar and resturant great, breakfasts great the food was plentiful and a great choice. Staff in all of the hotel pleasent and helpful.Bedrooms very good although the sinks dispite looking modern were difficult to wash in without making a mess, shower was hot and fast. Area was near to centre and the metro fast andf frequent, the shopping centre that was within 100 metres of the Hotel was fantastic and all the designer shops you could want.Plenty of bars and resturants in the local area you did not need to go back into centre of a night.

From the time one enters this hotel, one is immediately impressed by the warmth and welcome of the staff. Staff at Reception, in Restaurant and Bar are most helpful and very anxious to make one's stay as meaningful and enjoyable as possible. The design of the hotel is most impressive and the abundance of glass gives an open, transparent and hospitable atmosphere throughout. The Restaurant on the first floor is excellent, and breakfast there each morning is a treat. Each evening after seeing the sights in the beautiful city of Prague, we relaxed in the bar of the hotel where there was a pleasant variety of refreshments to be had. Our room was spacious, comfortable, stylistic and very pleasant. This is an excellent hotel, adjacent to trains and trams and we are already looking forward to our return visit very soon.

Warm welcome
07 December 2006
Not sure about how warm a welcome & weather to expect at beginning of December. Prague made sure we didn't freeze (mulled wine & hot chocolate at the gorgeous Christmas Market in the Old Town Square helped) & Andel's made us feel nothing was too much trouble. Free upgrade to a suite for 1 of our 5 rooms(our birthday girl appreciated the comforts of the bathrobe & slippers and also the 2 plasma screens/dvds) The standard rooms were great, modern but comfortable, especially lovely beds & bedding.(I normally have to punch pillows into submission but these were fine) Breakfast went on for hours but always fresh, especially recommend the bread and pastries. Bar staff were busy with conference members the 1st nights but on 3rd/4th night went out of their way to be friendly and more than made up for busy time. All in all highly recommended and all 9 of us would definitely visit again.(In standard rooms tea/coffee making facilities would be the icing on the cake)

Definitely recommended
05 December 2006
Everything about this hotel was great - large spacious rooms, lovely bathroom with separate shower and bath, and a lovely extremely comfortable extra large bed. The staff were all so pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The location is perfect too - right beside the metro stop Andel and the tramline as well but it only takes 20 minutes anyhow to walk into the Old Town. The breakfast is excellent - such a wide choice and of a high standard. I will definitely stay here when I go back to Prague.

The location of this ultra modern hotel is ideal. It has a reliable tram service just a stone throw from the hotel to the old town an castle. The hotel is beautiful in its presentation and kept to the highest standard. The rooms were also modern an spacious and with every thing you needed, with the added bonus of fantastic beds (there huge)!! bath rooms were also well presented with seperate shower/bath. Breakfast buffet was catered for like we had never seen, some thing for every one an it just kept on coming. One particluar morning we were not particually early arriving to breakfast about 10 mins to spare, we were greated politley and bowled over by the fresh food we were expecting it to be dry an horrid with eager waitress hovering over you to get you out, but it was still fresh an whats more we were asked if we wanted anything different to what was already out! The staff all spoke good english and were in our eyes proffesional an friendly in their jobs with a certain pride about them selves an the hotel. THIS ONLY CONCLUDES TO US BOOKING THERE AGAIN ON OUR NEXT VISIT CANT WAIT!!

A nicely designed bright and roomy hotel, clean and spacious. The real selling point here though is the quality of service which throughout our stay was exemplary. The staff were exceptionally efficient and diligent and always went that extra mile (though some of the morning staff at breakfast seemed over eager to clear things from the table). There's no mark-up on bar prices so beer and cigarettes cost the same as everywhere else, and service was always with a smile.
Thanks to all at Andel's for a great stay.

Review of 'ANDEL'S'

With it’s marble floors and white voile draped from the ceiling in reception, walking through the door of the Andels hotel takes your breath away. Checking in, with staff fluent in English couldn’t be easier! We got to our room, clean and fresh, gigantic bed, marble bathroom, gorgeous chaise-longe with plump red cushions, and couldn’t believe the price we paid for our three night stay. Bargain! Breakfast consisted of a wide range of hot and cold food in a stylish setting, glass walls and sleek furniture. There’s a whole floor of massage parlours, hairdressers, fitness and sauna facilities, all at reasonable prices. Stepping out side there was a mix of traditional Czech buildings and a modern shopping complex. The Andels metro is a two minute walk from the hotel for fast transportation to the rest of city. Overall, ideal for the site-seer or the business traveller!!
