We have just returned from 3 nights stay in the hotel america and rate this hotel very highly. The staff were always pleasant and helpful and after eating in a dodgy restaurant the 1st night they recommended an amazing tapas restaurant 'Cervesaria Catalan' 5 mins walk from the hotel that we never stopped eating in! Rooms were spacious, clean and beds very comfortable :)
We loved the use of free safe where you can put in your own code and also free aircon in the room on hot days. The pool was just the right size for a city break and there was always free chairs on sunloungers and places to relax after a long day sightseeing or to sunbathe. Sadly there was alot of drilling from a building nearby but this is not the hotels fault. The hotel's food and drinks were pricey so we chose to drink beers and coffee in the bar located next door to the hotel on your right as you come out. Was pleased we had a complimentary shower room and place to change as we had to check out at 12pm and our flight wasnt until 10pm. The ramblas are a 20 minute walk and the metro is one stop at 1.30euro single trip to save you legs. It is an expensive upmarket area and lovely views of the mountains and not very noisy although i couldnt sleep with the window open as i like complete silence!! Would definately recommend stayin here
