Amaragua Hotel review

14 November 2007
Stayed Nov 2007, very nice hotel, Reception and bar very grand, good location, nice clean and tidy hotel, would recommend. Make sure you visit the streets of La Carihuela just along the coast a little one street back from the sea front, The gate to the sea front is great to use to get everywhere.

A perfect relaxing break

15 September 2007
Am just back from a 5 night break and it was just as I expected (excellent) I was there in October 2006 and decided then I would go back. Ideal location,Beautiful hotel, Food choice and quality,(both in restaurant and poolside bar) top class.and of course the staff were both helpful and courteous. Have often said I would not go any more than twice to the same place but have changed my mind about Amaragua and will definitely be back

I booked the Amaragua hotel as a anniversary present for my parents who are in their 70's.I live in Spain and was able to visit the hotel prior to booking.
I chose the Amaragua after reading positive reveiws from this website.
My first impression was that the hotel was extremely clean and uncluttered.
The staff were very helpful and polite and spoke many languages.
The room was a good size and cleaned to high standards daily.
My parents said that the food was varied and fresh with plenty of choice at each serving.
There was entertainment each night to which they did not attend as they had walked endlessly each day and retired before it commenced however there was no noise what so ever.
They had a fantastic holiday and I would recomend this Hotel to people of all ages.

Just returned from a 7 day stay at the Hotel Amaragua. The location of the hotel is excellent, with direct access to the beach. Hotel amenities such as the gym, spa, steam room, sauna
and both indoor and outdoor pools are of a very high standard. Bar and restaurant facilities were first-rate with a superb variety of food presented each day. Staff were very friendly and courteous at all times. The ambience and general quality of the Amaragua was an enriching experience. Making plans already for a return visit.

Hotel is in perfect location in proximity to La Carihuela.  Very spacious reception and pool area.  Rooms adequate and clean.  Staff very friendly.

Booked in on B&B basis only but wide selection of food served.

Would have no hesitation in going back to this hotel.

I chose the Amaragua for our party of ten because the majority of reviews gave it five stars, and we were not disappointed. Every aspect was wonderfull, decor, service, food, layout, location, a truly tranquil 4 star hotel.A friend who visited us during our stay, having lived in the Costa Del Sol for eight years, and had not heard of it previously, commented how it was like finding a jewel that had been hidden away.

I booked the hotel for a 4 night stay as a suprise for my wife's 40th birthday. What a suprise! Everything went according to plan from the booking with Alpha Rooms to the taxi fares which i was informed about on other reviews about the hotel. The restaurant was very well stocked with very good food. the staff were helpful and polite. The rooms were very clean as was the rest of the hotel, all facilities were of a high standard this includes the gym, indoor pool, jacusi, sauna and Turkish bath. The location was perfect between Toremolinus and Benalmedina. You access the promenade via the back gate using your swipe card, we both enjoyed many walks during the day and evening. although we have children ourselves it was great to get away on our own without many children at the hotel. Overall a gteat holiday the only critisism would be very little entertainment in the evenings, but having said that we would both like to return again. Do go you won't be disapointed

The Amaragua is a beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is very well run. We had a lovely few days here. We have stayed at quite a few hotels along this beach front and would rate this as one of the best. The Spa facilities are excellent and plan to return for a well being trip to include the spa daily treatments. Great value for money.

'AMARAGUA' Perfect for couples!

05 June 2006
The Amaragua is a beautiful hotel with good facilities, good service and an excellent location. The hotel is definately more for couples as we only saw two children there during the whole of our stay and thy don't have a kids club or any kids entertainement.  As a result the whole ambience is peaceful and relaxing throughout the whole hotel. The restaurant food is very good quality, if a little dull (we like to try something new and exotic on holiday, but the hotel restaurant offers mostly old favourites such as roast beef/pork/chicken with gravy, casseroles and of course paella). The salad bar is excellent with lots of choice, including king prawns, mussels, fresh tuna fish, etc and there were plenty of english favourites at breakfast!  The spa facilities are wonderful and very clean and the hotel bar is generous with it's measures, but dispite all of this, the best thing about the Amaragua is it's location.  It's right on the beach with Benalmedina Marina just a 5 minute stroll to the right and Torremolinos a 5-10 minute stroll to the left (and I do mean stroll because we don't walk fast!).  Both of these places offer great shopping, restuarants and nightlife, but if you don't want to venture that far there are some excellent shops restuarants and bars along the beach front and the street parrallel to it just to the left of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful get-away from the kids with easy access to fun and frivolity when you want it, and a peaceful haven of a hotel when you don't!

THIS IS MY SECOND VISIT TO THE AMARAGUA AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANY TRAVELLER.  THE STAFF ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND THE FACILITIES ARE EXCELLENT- THE INDOOR POOL AND SPA TREATMENTS ARE AN ADDED BONUS.  THE LOCATION IS VERY GOOD BEING SITUATED BY THE BEACH WITH ACCESS TO THE PROM FROM THE REAR GATE OF HOTEL. IT IS JUST A SHORT TAXI RIDE FROM MALAGA AIRPORT TO HOTEL.  I CERTAINLY WILL BE RETURNING.

The room we had was a twin room witha "put up bed" for our 2 year old, at no extra cost.  The room was very nice and clean.  The staff were very helpful, the food was varied to cover the vast number of nationalities in the hotel.  There was a lack of food provided for children, but I am sure had we asked we would have been provided with something suitable.  By car the hotel was very easy to find, although there is limited parking.  But, a car is not essential as the hotel sits on the beach front with easy access onto a promenade that runs from Torremolinos to Benelmadena port, with numerous restaurants, souvenier shops and plenty of beach to choose from.  We were there at Easter and there wasn't a lot of entertainment provided by the hotel, the only children's activity at our time of stay was a small children's swimming pool, therefore we would say that this was not a child friendly hotel.  We would stay here again.

Just returned from a four night stay at the hotel "Amaragua". It is one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in, and only a 15 euro taxi ride from the airport. Although it was March the hotel was quite full and a variety of nationalities . The food was varied and plentiful and the staff (especially in the bar) were very friendly.
The hotel is situated at La Carihuela end of Torremolinos and is fairly quiet with a wonderful selection of decent restaurants specializing in seafoods.
We would definitely stay at the Amaragua another time.

Review of 'AMARAGUA'

We were very pleased with this hotel. It was perfectly situated midway between Benalmadena and Torremolinos. At least two or three times we enjoyed walking into Torremolinos during the day to shop and in the evenings to Benalmadena to enjoy the nightlife. We could have taken the bus either way but enjoyed the walks and exercise.

The hotel was nicely decorated and had great ammenities. The food was great and there was lots to choose from. We ate two meals a day at the hotel and the staff were polite and friendly and even helped me with my poor pronunciation when it was needed, which meant every day.

The gym was small but nicely laid out and the only problem was it got a little stuffy and humid at times but drinking lots of cold water resolved that minor inconvenience.

The hotel pool was very nice and a short walk down the stairs and out the gate at the back of the hotel took us to their beautiful beach. You'll have to pay a small daily rental fee to use the sun umbrellas on the beach but it's well worth it during the heat of the day.

The room that we had was simple but adequately decorated. There was some noise drifting into our room from the halls the as patrons went back and forth to their rooms but frankly that is more a sign of discourteous people than anything else.

Outside of the rear gate is also a very long promenade with tons of restaurants, bars and shops. We made it a daily routine to take longs strolls and even run along the promenade to enjoy all of the beautiful scenery and people. If you enjoy people watching, it's the place to be.

One important thing to note, at some bank/debit machines in Spain, if you have a bank card that has more than a 4 digit PIN, your card will not work and you shouldn't even attempt a second time. I ended up being locked out of my account, due to three failed attempts and my bank told me that I could only reset my PIN at a Royal Bank in Canada. Thankfully I had another account but it too had a 6 digit PIN but I was able to find a machine that it would work with on the first attempt.

I would return to this hotel without question but would probably upgrade to a higher level room than the one we had.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed in this hotel, the food was good and the staff are very friendly. The position of the hotel is good with a secure gate onto the promenade where there are numerous shops and restaurants. The rooms are good size, cleaned dailly, minibar and views to sea. The hotel has a large outdoor pool and plenty of sunbeds and sun shades, the grounds are well kept.

Review of 'AMARAGUA'

14 March 2006
I selected the Hotel Amaragua because of the good reviews it has & was not disappointed.

All the staff are very friendly and can speak English. Check-in was very quick. The hotel and room was very clean. We stayed bed and breakfast only so we cannot comment on the food except breakfast was great. It was a buffet style breakfast with plenty of choice including bacon and eggs cooked in front of you, however you like them.  Breakfast times was 7.30-10.30

The room was well appointed and nicely decorated. It was a side sea-view that faced east which meant the room did not get too hot during the day. The air conditioning in the room did not work on cool setting and only added to the heat if you switched it on, so we left the patio doors open during the day to cool the room. There was some building work going on below us and this was a bit noisy in the morning with diggers, etc but this was not anything to do with the hotel and was just ' one of those things'

The location is good too. You can walk through the garden, via a security gate (you swipe your room card) and step straight on to the promenade. There are plenty of shops and restaurants etc. This time of the year it was very quiet at night but busy enough when the sun came out. Turn right and Benalmadena and Puerto Marina are approx 10 mins walk, very nice area with good restaurants and bars. Turn left and this takes you past the fish restaurants of carihuela and on into torremolinos.

The hotel has a lovely spa with indoor heated pool and a very large jacuzzi. steam room, sauna and gymnasium. it was open 10.00-2.00 and 16.00-20.00 mon-sat and 10.00-2.00 on sundays

the hotel grounds had plenty of sunbeds around the large pool ( a bit cold at this time of year) and was a great place to relax and sunbathe. Lovely views out to sea as the hotel is elevated from the promenade.

we paid 160.00 pounds for 3 nights B&B in a double room from 10-13 March 2006. Incredible value for this 4 star hotel and i do not think you will find any better value than this for what the hotel and area offers.

I would definetly stay here again & would recommend the hotel to anyone - you won't be disappointed.

Took a weekend break 25-28th Nov 2005.Hotel nice and clean and central short walk along the promenade to benaldamena marina which was pleasant. Room spacious with nice sea view, beds fairly hard and uncomfortable, a/c didnt work well.bathroom well laid out, plenty of hot water, excellent shower over bath, plenty of little extras shampoo, razors, toothpaste, shoe shine etc.
On the downside we had noise disturbance despite few guests staying as there was a conference and drunk guests were lying on the corridor outside our room at 5.30am playing with the ice machine.
Food lets this hotel down. The breakfast was adequate by any 4 star standard, but the dinner buffet was repetitive, boring, pretty monotonous and not very nice. Too much over cooked fish, little vegetables and although there was a roast joint most evenings it was accompanied by "fries". The starters were nice however, I was surprised that there was no bread apart from a bread roll and no butter unless asked for!.
The service was good, staff nice and friendly, the bar was nice without inflated prices, and the spa was also very nice. It had limited opening hours over the winter period however.
In all a pleasant stay, but with so many restaurants closed this time of year half board is advisable. At other times this hotel would be fine on a bed and breakfast basis as I dont think it compares with any 4star hotel ive stayed in the canary islands for example.

Review of 'AMARAGUA'

We went on a 4 day break to the Amaragua having read the opinions of other people regarding the Hotel, its food etc and we were not disappointed.
The hotel was very clean, tidy and well situated for local restauraunts, shops and nightlife.
Access to the promenade and beach was easily achieved via a secure rear access gate allowing walks to Benalmadena and 'old' Torremolinos.
We had read the comment about 'unedible food' on a previous review but were very pleasantly surprised.
The variety and quantity of food presented on a daily basis catered for every palate, genre and nationality you could think of, and if anything was not to your liking the staff were on hand to correct it. All you had to do was ask!
The grounds were well maintained with lots of sunbeds, a well appointed bar/restaurant area and good sized pool.
Our room was very clean and comfortable with TV minibar etc. etc. and a view looking out toward the beach.
The reception was very large with very comfortable seating areas and the bar offered similar comfort.
All in all a very enjoyable stay and would return again without hesitation.

We were delighted with this hotel. We find that hotels often dont accomodate a family like ours whose children are not yet fully independent but are unable to share a room with us - we have two boys aged 12 and 14. This hotel was perfect with interconnecting rooms supplied at no charge.
The food was excellent and the service was also good. Very few English guests but the hotel staff spoke good english so we got by! The pool was extremely clean with a lovely poolside bar.
Position was also good with your hotel key opening a gate directly onto the beach promenade. This promenade stretches many miles and you can walk to Torremolinos and Bene???? but the section that opens up from the hotel was relatively quiet.
Taxi servce was good -only about 15mins from the airport and relatively cheap -16 euros.
All in all we had a very pleasant and peaceful break and would definatly return to this hotel.
