Altamira
30 June 2007
Second stay at the Altamira, both times in June, as all other reviews state, this is in a superb location, very quiet, with friendly staff. Although generally appears very clean, this year we suffered with cockroaches in parts of the appartment, even the sprays provided by the staff didn't completely sort the problem. I think the hotel is probably ready for another refurb.

fab location of 'Altamira'
20 February 2007
5* location We have just returned from Tenerife. We walked miles locating apartments with the best location on the island for our future trips. We have been to Tenerife about nine times in the past so we know it quite well. As soon as we spotted the location of these aprtments we knew that this was for us. The best beach for miles is visible from the apartments, swish location, flat walking to Christionas etc etc. We went straight to the reception to pick up the details and I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the cost. We have paid much more than this in Los Gigantes and other areas.

The rooms are very clean. There is no scrabbling for sun beds on a morning. The pool area is quiet. The food is not brilliant.

ALTAMIRA A++++++
28 February 2006
I have stayed at Altamira 4 or more times now and each visit gets better. The staff are friendly, the complex are clean and the immediate area is relaxing. The pool is lovely with a toddler pool, older child pool and deep pool and the great thing is no balls or lilos are allowed! The lovely beach is a stones throw away, just through some private gates. Just across the road is a supermarket, 2 pleasant restaurants and an English bar which serves a good breakfast.There are some lovely wine bars as you walk along the beach - Acanto is lovely although a little expensive - A definite A1 place to visit on the whole.

This was our second stay at Altimira and once again we enjoyed it very much. The Complex is quiet, relaxing, clean and the apartments were well equipped, although the cutlery was a bit dated and there was no microwave. However the apartment was very comfortable and the Pool area is well laid out with an ample supply of sun loungers and cushions (1.5 Eu) if required. Although situated on a steep hill, there is easy access to the walkway along the back of the beaches from the pool area. (Gate key obtained from Reception). It is also within easy reach of a number of restaurants offering different cuisine. More restuarants and shops are within walking distance (about 20 minutes) along the beach walkway. Local shopping is currently limited one nearby supermarket.

I have to say - I use a company called pineapple holidays - after booking originally we found we had been put in a young and lively accommodation - of course I complained. The nice guy at pineapple sorted it and moved us to the ALTAMIRA.
AND ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW AND DOUBLE WOW. It was just a great/fab apartment/facility/staff. I would happily live there.
I would go again and have recommended to many since, who have followed my lead and enjoyed the ALTAMIRA.
Give it a go - you won’t be sorry...............

The good: Clean, well equipped apartments with stylish, if basic decor. Good size nice, clean pool with about enough sun loungers to go round. Located in the middle of a group of very swish hotels so you get the 5* feel without the 5* price! Short walk to La Caleta where there are 3 top notch seafood restaurants.
The bad: No late bar or retaurant facilities. Nothing for miles for the kids to do. Not a problem for us but for a family holiday, it's too far from the fun. 5* district means 5* prices in local bars and restaurants meaning a stroll to La Caleta or Fanabe for a cheap feed. Local supermarket obscenely expensive (not the Altamira's fault but worthy of note).
We thoroughly enjoyed it but walked MILES for food and drinks. Lost half a stone! Wouldn't recommend for families or a boozy crowd but if you've hit the age when you feel old in Veronicas but don't yet have kids to entertain, this could be for you!

The Hotel Complex was really nice, very clean and the apartments were very well equipped and very comfortable. The Pool area is lovely. Our only gripe, was the fact that there was no entertainment and that the bar wasn't open in the evenings. When you go as a mature couple, well 45/48 a little entertainment and some extra company in the evenings usually makes your holiday.Even the bar with some modern music playing would have been suffice, at least you get to meet other people. This is the 1st holiday we have been on and didn't make any friends.
