What our customers say

We approached the hotel with some trepidation and being sent up eleven floors and then finding that our door overlooked a bit of a building site - although with mountains behind - we had a sinking feeling that this hotel was very cheap for a reason. But once inside all that changed. The good sized balcony at the other end of the room overlooked the sea, the harbour and the hotle pools, and although the kitchen was light on crockery and cutlery the bathroom was clean, (with an excellent shower), and there was plenty of space. (A Studio Room, unless marked as Double, comes with two single beds which we had to push together). We presume that this hotel was top of the range in the seventies, and if you like smoked glass, orange furnishings, and the light fightings of that period then you will find this place has a real charm. The rooms have obviously been done up since then with your typical basic hotel fare but the place does have some character. And the staff are friendly and helpful. Within a few minutes of our fuses blowing in the kitchen somebody was there to mend them. We didn't eat here - going to the exellent Bar Carmen over the road for lots of fish - but the hotel menu seemed well priced. There are some basic amenities for children; the lift works; and the pools are very good. The hotel is literally a minute from the beach which is clean with a clear sea that has no seaweed or tide but which does shelve rather quickly. The harbour - the main attraction of the resort - is a forty minute walk along the front taking you past many restaurants where fish or meat is prepared on a barbecue in front of you. The town has more to offer than at first glance, with a fantastic park with the largest collection of cacti you will ever see, where the Spanish families stroll in the early evening. We loved it here - mainly because of the wonderful balcony. But we do wonder how crowded both this hotel and Benalmedena itself would be in the height of the season.
