What our customers say
We made the reservation early in the year for a two week break in September.
Between the booking and departure the resort changed hands and was renamed the VILA MONTE.Unfortunately we were not informed which meant a difficulty in locating the hotel.Locals were not very helpful and there was little in the way of direction signs for the 'new' VILA !
The previous owners were German and as a result the clientel was almost exclusively German speaking. We were the only English speaking guests.
The Resort grounds were well maintained, the three swimming pools were excellent and golf facilities were there for those so inclined.
The rooms were adequate with air cond. but without TV, UK radio or tea/coffee making facilities.
There was one very good, but expensive restaurant (48 euros for dinner del dia), which also served an excellent breakfast.Dinner was Pseudo French rather than traditional Portugese.Wine was far too expensive !There was a pool bar for lunch but this again was expensive.
Management attentiveness left much to be desired with lack of information for guests.Outdated literature re previous ownership didn't help.No newspapers were available without a drive to the local town. After week 1 activity lists in English failed to appear despite requests.
For guests who require something other than complete inertia a hire car is essential so that they can sample the local restaurants which have greater ambiance and more reasonable prices.
The resort is rated as 4 Star but will have to raise it's standards to achieve that level.3 star would be more in keeping with what was on offer. We would need a lot of persuading to return.
