Great place to stay!
16 May 2008
We stayed in the Academy for one night in May during a two day Dublin city break. Unbelievably (for Ireland) there was bright blue sky for virtually the entire stay! The location of the hotel is excellent. The room was everything that we were looking for....clean, modern and very comfortable. It could have been a little bit bigger, but quite frankly that is just nit picking. In fact, the entire hotel has been refurbished and is very nice. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The (buffet style) breakfast was good although the breakfast room itself was a bit warm and noisy (with the noise of tables being cleared). Overall though a great place to stay. I would definitely stay there again and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it.

Tis all good at the Academy
18 February 2008
Went back to Dublin after a six year gap to celebrate my 40th Birthday with friends who hadn't been before. The city has changed, as has the Guinness, but dont panic though it's still a great place to visit just very busy now, much more cosmopolitan, and a bit dearer! We stayed at this hotel six years ago and it has improved markedly in the intervening years; it was pretty good last time. The upgrade that has been carried out is very tasteful, the reception was bright, airy, and was operated by friendly and helpful staff at all times with good facilities such as internet; the bar was spacious, modern, and comfortable with prices on a par with the city; the rooms were clean, comfortable, and sufficiently well equiped for a city break where you wont expect to spend too much time in; and the restaurant at breakfast, although very busy, was well operated with friendly and efficient staff on hand to keep the buffet well stocked with hot food and provide fresh tea and coffee - the full Irish breakfast was great - and there was also a range of different breakfast options available. Only two minor grumbles about the hotel which really wont put you off and that is that there was no luggage room although they are putting one in shortly I was told, and the plate provided for breakfast was too small - or was it that I just wanted good value for my sterling! And that leads on to value - this hotel was very good value booked through Alpharooms, it is in a very good location at the top of O'Connell street - wherever you stay in the city you will walk alot - and as a base for exploring, shopping, and recovering from late nights in Temple Bar its excellent. Highly recommended by us and our friends.

Good everything
14 January 2008
We stayed at the Academy hotel on 12th January 2008.
The staff were very polite and rooms were clean and well presented.
The Abacus restaurant situated in the hotel was a little bit costly but the food and service were second to none.
The hotel was quiet and no noise in the corridors ensured a full nights sleep.
The hotel is just off O'Connell Street and 2 minuets walk to the shops.
The city tour buses start just outside the hotel.
Presentation and location would ensure another stay.

A fab hotel and weekend
11 December 2007
We stayed at The Academy 8 Dec 207, Saturday to Monday and had a fantastic time. The hotel is clean and modern and the staff very helpful.
The hotel is in walking distance of a super shopping centre and the wonderful Temple Bar Area. You couldn't choose a better location.
Breakfast was good although there was a lengthy queue each day - worth the wait though.
We would highly recommend this hotel and will certainly return.
Once again well done Alpha Rooms.

07 December 2007
We stayed at the Academy Hotel for our birthday weekend away in November. Our room was just what we needed for our coupl of days, breakfast was great with plenty of selection and bar prices where cheaper than some city centre bars. Location is excellent as we bought tourist pass at airport and the buses stopped right outside hotel and airport bus just round corner. I would definitely recomend this hotel to anyone for location, cost, food and rooms. I will be returning and hopefully sooner rather than later.

Academy Review
03 December 2007
I stayed in this hotel in the last weekend in November 2007. The hotel is very accessible for Dublin City and is close to all major attractions. The rooms are very modern and comfortable. The only downfall with this hotel was the queue for breakfast, we waited at least 15mins every morning to get into the breakfasting room. There were no staff around to tell you what the delay was or to apologise for the wait. Apart from this the hotel was great.

great place to stay
30 November 2007
travelled to the hotel in late November 2007, we found the hotel very easily and were more than happy with the facilities on offer, the room was very comfortable and the dining and bar facilities were excellent. the hotel is in an ideal location near bus routes and places of interest and would have no hesitation booking a room in the future.

girlie weekend away
20 October 2007
Travelled to the hotel in Ocotber 07. Looks like the hotel has just been fully refurbised as both public areas and our bedroom were decorated to a high standard and clean. The beds were comfy and the breakfast tasty, though it was very busy we were seated fairly quickly and the staff seemed to cope well. The hotel is off the main street so not too noisy at night and only a short walk from the main areas.

Academy Hotel
07 October 2007
just home from a stay in the academy hotel and we could'nt fault it. our rooms were spotless and the location is brill (just off o connell street). the breakfast was great and even though the staff had to cater for over 400 people that morning for breakfast they kept everything running smoothly(fair play to them).anyway great hotel, good location and pleasant staff.

Review of Academy
30 July 2007
Perfect location a short stroll from O'Connell Street abd with subsidised car parking in the Qlink car park across the road. The hotel is still under going a major refurbishment which seems to be nearly complete. Room was spotless and air conditioned. Had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent and the 2 waiters on duty were very helpful. Could do with printing cleaner menus though !!
The cold and hot buffet breakfast was also very good for this standard of hotel. Very happy and would stay again

Review of 'ACADEMY'
26 March 2007
Ideal location just off O'Connell street, 10 min walk from temple bar area. When we stayed the restoration was still being worked so we did get disturbed in the mornings. We did request a refurbished room at back of the hotel as advised by other reviews. We did get this on arrival and if definately helped, but one thing we repeatedly asked for, on booking, prior to us leaving for dublin and at check-in was a triple room with three seperate beds, unfortunately we got a single and a double. Otherwise the room was very nice. Breakfast was nothing spectacular but certainly what you would expect from 3* hotel. For the its price the academy was well worth it, but would be a much more positive experience once all the work has finished

Went over for St Patrick's weekend and although there was refurb work going on and they were full to capacity the staff were excellent very helpful and friendly especially at breakfast where there was no pressure to vacate tables quickly and you were allowed to eat your meal in peace. Rooms immaculate and very comfortable. Would recommend this hotel

Excellent hotel especially as its rated at 3*. The location is brilliant just off O'Connell Street about 5-10 min walk from Temple Bar/Grafton Street. The hotel staff were top class and couldn't do enough to help. The rooms were extremely clean and functional. The breakfast was great and the restaurant staff were more than happy to cater to any needs. We would definately use this hotel again. Both of us have travelled extensively and have experienced a lot of bad hotels - this one was not one of those ! The spanish girl on the reception was an absolute delight
