Over Easter, the Irla worked out about the same price as a 2* on the Ramblas. It's set in a lovely quiet residential/posh shopping area just off the Diagonal with easy access to the centre via the Metro. We were very impressed by the rooms and the high-spec finish throughout the hotel. There were lovely touches like the free minibar and free 24hr self service "coffeeshop" (coffee machine, fridge of drinks and pastries) - always up for freebies! There is a small gym and very small but effective steam room. The best bit had to be the bathrooms though - glass walls, double power shower and best of all... a glass sink! No bath though... Oh and Barcelona's great too!
