Review of 'ABBA QUEEN'S GATE'

21 March 2007
The staff was warm and welcoming and the room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. We especially enjoyed the wonderful buffet breakfast. We also very much appreciated being able to check in early as we had arrived by a "red-eye" flight and were in need of a rest. The location was also very nice - off the main street so the room was quiet and peaceful, but just a short walk to either the Glouster Rd. or South Kensington Tube stations. Also easy access to Hyde Park to walk and enjoy, and to the Royal Albert, V&A Museum, Natural History and Science museums as well. The ABBA QueensGate provided a great home base for a wonderful trip to London. we'd definitely stay there again.

Review of 'ABBA QUEEN'S GATE'

21 February 2007
Location is everything in choosing a city hotel, and the Abba Queen's Gate is perfect in that regard. About 6/10 minutes from Gloucester Rd tube, and 6 stops from there to Piccadilly Circus. Very quiet area, and minutes from Natural History, V&A and Science Museums. The Original Bus tour stops just down the road from the tube also. The hotel itself is not much to cheer about. Its actually  a few Edwardian houses knocked into one, so be prepared for unexpected twists and turns in the building. Our room was on the 1st floor, and when we opened the door to the room, we found we had a flight of stairs up into the room itself: not good if you are not able bodied. The room itself was large, airy and bright, with a view of next door apartments, which didn't bother us. What did bother us was the bathroom. Tiny doesn't come close to describing it. No shelves to put toiletries [the cleaning staff put my toothbrush and toiletries on the floor under the sink, which I wasn't thrilled about]. The shower had to be run for a minimum of 10 minutes to get warm water[it never got hot] however the water pressure was good. The room had a safe in the wardrobe, hairdryer, trouser press, kettle, tea/coffee [sachets which were replaced daily] and the rooms were cleaned and beds made each day. Towels were replaced daily also. The ceiling however had several damp patches, and the storage space was limited. Checking in was fine, but they asked for a £20 pre-authorisation from my credit card in case we used the mini bar, which wasn't mentioned when we booked. We left on the last day in a bit of a hurry, and the pre-authorised slip wasn't returned to me. All in all, we had a good stay, because of the location, and the hotel was so reasonable through Alpharooms. [at reception the rate was displayed as £150 per night + VAT..definitely not worth that money]. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would have given it more stars but for the bathroom and the damp patches. The breakfasts, as others have said in reviews, was above average for hotel buffets, but don't leave it until the last minute to go down to the dining room.

Convenient location about 10 mins flat walk from Gloucester Rd tube and 5 mins from the Albert Hall. Buses 5 mins away into cown. Very convenient for museums like Science Museum, V & A, Natural History. Harrods etc 10 mins. walk.
The lift was broken when we arrived for two days. It would have been nice if they had given a complimentary something for our 4 flight walk up. Only have the breakfast if it is in your room rate and do not turn up in the latter half of breakfast service. We saw a poor US couple charged £15 +vat each  for the dregs of scrambled eggs. You can get a wonderful fresh cooked breakfast down the road by the tube for £5 including coffee! Rooms OK, reception helpful. Might stay again if the price was right.

What can I say?  We arrived at 11am knowing we could not check in until 2pm... we just thought we would leave our bags, but No... they had our room ready and were happy for us to check in then... great when you have been travelling since 4am!  The hotel room was so spacious, comfortable... good hairdryer... so few hotels have this!!  We had our safe and everything.  Room and bathroom were spotless.  Staff were friendly.  Breakfast the next morning - super, eat as much as you want!  No one rushing you out!  So central.  5 minute walk to Hyde Park and Royal Albert Hall.  Super.  Would stay again in a second!!

I stayed here with my teenage daughter ans would recommend it to anyone. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was excellent with all the facilities one would need. The dining room offers a wonderful breakfast in very pleasing surroundings. The good choice of food was excellent and really set us up for the day.You could eat as much as you wanted. The hotel is in an excellent position. It is on a lovely tree lined road close to Gloucester Road Tube station. Kensington Palace, Royal Albert hall, Science and History museums as well as Knightbridge are all within walking distance.
Overall an excellent hotel and very good value for money booking through Alpha Rooms.

Review of 'ABBA QUEEN'S GATE'

23 August 2006
The Hotel staff were friendly and helpful from checking in to departure.  The room was clean and tidy and had all the facilities we required for our three night stay. We booked a triple room and the single was a 'put u up' type of bed, which my 10 year old described as 'very comfy', however the room was designed for just a double bed and the extra bed made it a bit of a squeeze. The buffet breakfast is good for filling up for the day as you can eat as little or as much as you like and there was always plenty of choice.  The Hotel is ideally located for the Natural History and Science museums and is a 10 to 15 minute walk from Gloucester Road Underground station, where there are also some reasonably priced cafes and restaurants and a Tescos and Waitrose for those essentials that you may have forgotten.
If you have lots of luggage a Taxi should cost arround £4.00 including a tip.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would recommend it to friends and family.

This is an excellent hotel for the price.
Good, quiet, location.
A pleasant 5 min walk to Gloucester Road tube station.
Clean, tidy room, not too small, tea and coffee facilities.
Bathroom new and clean, full compliment of shower caps etc!
Excellent buffet breakfast, served in a nice spacious room. You could eat until you burst - if that is your style!
The staff are cheerful and friendly, I think that this makes all the difference.
So, to summarise, excellent mid-range hotel at a great price. I would stay there again.

The hotel is situated in a tree lined wide road
within 3 minutes walk of The Royal Albert Hall.
The hotel staff were polite and helpful.  The
basement dining room was verynice and relaxing.
Our room was comfortable and reasonably large but
very dark and in need of some decoration.  Furnishings
and fitments appeared new but the walls and paint
very drab toffee colour.   Required the light on
despite sunny day.  The hotel has just recently been
taken over by Abba Hotels.

The hotel was very good value for the money we paid, The rooms were very clean, had everything that most hotels have, if anything maybe the rooms were on the small side but being in central London you couldn't expect much bigger. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay, pretty close to subway so no probs getting around, staff couldn't have been more friendly and it is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the city.

The area around the hotel is stunning. Very posh, well kept and quiet. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the tube station, which is handy.

The staff are very welcoming and helpful, and will do anything to help you. The rooms are gorgeous, clean, and the maid service is amazing.

Room service was not too expensive, £9.95 for a pizza, and the drinks were about £1.90 for a spirit, but £1.80 for the mixer. Still not too bad for london, in a lovely hotel, and being delivered to your room.

I recommend this hotel for any type of stay in London, whether it be business or pleasure.

10 February 2006
I have just returned from a 24 hour visit to London. The offer was amazing, less than £70 for two of us bed and breakfast. We were 5 minutes walk from the Royal Albert Hall and minutes away from all the museums. Our room was on the top floor not much of a view but as we were only staying for one night it wasn't a concern. The room was better than I expected, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was was a good size with bath and shower. The water was not as hot in the morning, obviously other guests all using it.
The staff were friendly and professional. We ordered food to our room which took a long time to arrive,(50 minutes) so I would recommended finding out how long it will be. The staff were apologetic and reassured us we would still have time to eat before going out.
The breakfast was o.k, we had continental included with our bill. We could have paid an extra £6 for a cooked breakfast.
Overall the stay was enjoyable, I would definitely go back again and recommend it to others.

Very good hotel for the money £64 a night for a double room.  Very Clean & looks like its just been refurbished. Excellent location on Queensgate in Kensington,  staff are very helpfull if only a bit inept. 5 mins walk from the major museums, 10 mins walk to Harrods, good restaraunts and bars near buy.  Hotel faciliies are limited, small bar and breakfast is only a poor continental although you can upgrade to full english for £6.  I have stayed in 5 star hotels where the rooms are not as good as the ones at the QueensGate Concorde and I will be staying there again on my next visit to that area as it is just excellent value for money.

The Concorde is in the heart of Kensington, 100 yards from Hyde Park and a short walk from Harrods. The room was very spacious with the biggest bed I have ever seen. The facilities were excellent - tea coffee, trouser press, beautifully appointed bathroom, TV with 5 major channels and pay options. Breakfast is very good and, although no restaurant is available for evening meals, there is an extensive and fairly reasonably priced menu available 24 hours. A taxi back from the West End was £11.80 - which is cheaper than the Tube if there are four of you sharing! We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights and the next time we visit London we will be sure to check out  availability at the Concorde.

My best friend took me and my daughter to London this summer for the first time. What a great time we had! The QGC was faultless in making our visit a comfortable and very pleasant one. The room was spacious and spotless with very comfortable beds and lovely shower. Perfect to unwind after a busy day sightseeing and shopping! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly providing us with lots of information about places to eat nearby and the best routes to all the attractions. The hotel is located on a quiet street in the posh Kensington area, which was great because we had no trouble getting to sleep at night and it was only a 10min walk to Gloucester Road tube station, then a few stops to the West end. All in all, excellent value for money.
